INTRODUCTION
In this document you will find a detailed description how to install and to use the “T-
ModemPCI” modem as well as software to operate it.
“T-ModemPCI” device is a modem for data transfer via GSM network. The Modem is designed
to be mounted into motherboard of a PC. Once the device is mounted to the motherboard you can
access the Internet using a GSM channel for data transferring. “T-ModemPCI” supports the following
data transfer channels: EDGE, GPRS, CSD, HSCSD, SMS. The device can function as a “watchdog”
timer, watching over the PC temperature and van velocity.

1. PACKAGE CONTENTS
‘T-ModemPCI” is supplied to clients in carton with all contents, which are needed for
connection to PC and normal work:
1) Carton,
2) “T-ModemPCI” modem,
3) A CD with User’s Guide and drivers,
4) An external GSM antenna (just upon special orders of customers),
Notice: the producer does not provide a SIM card among other items of a package, which is necessary
for connection to GSM Network! You can obtain a SIM card from your local GSM service provider!
If any of the components is missing please contact your local distributor.

2. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
2.1. Data transferring
“T-ModemPCI” supports all bearers of GSM Network. Which data channel is used
depends on GSM operator and data transfer capacity in the chosen GSM Network.
•EDGE 2 class (up to 118,4 kbps),
•GPRS 6 class (up to 56-114 kbps),
•HSCSD (up to 43.2 kbps),
•CSD (up to 14,4 kbps),
•SMS textual messages.
2.2. Mechanical specifications
“T-ModemPCI” modem is a board, which is mounted into motherboard of a PC. The modem
is connected to the motherboard using a PCI connector. External dimensions and measures of the unit
are shown in picture 1.

2.3. Electrical and operating specifications
The MODEM is supplied from Motherboard’s PCI connector of a PC. The supply voltage is
+5V. A PC to which the “T-ModemPCI” modem is going to be connected must have PCI interface.
Electrical parameters of the device are shown in Table 1.

2.4. Indication
“T-ModemPCI” has 2 LEDs for indication. They are located at the top part of the device. Due
to these indicating LEDs we can determine in which mode is the device operating, are there any
shortcuts in its functionality or not. The indication status of the modem is given in the Table 3.

3. MODEM INSTALATION AND SETUP
3.1. Connecting to PC
1) Turn Off your PC;
2) Insert SIM card into the mode. Follow the instructions on the device sticker. Make sure, the
SIM card is pushed inside till it fixes;
3) Mount the “T-ModemPCI” modem into the Motherboard of a PC;
4) Connect an external GSM antenna to the “T-ModemPCI” board;
5) Turn on the PC.
3.2. Installing of Modem driver
1) Turn your PC on and wait until the OS boots;
2) Insert a CD supplied in the carton package
into CD ROM;

new device “PCI Simple Communications
Controller”. “Found New Hardware Wizard”
dialog box will appear. In the opened dialog box,
select “No, not this time” and press “Next” button;
2. “Found New Hardware Wizard” dialog box will
appear. In the opened dialog box, select „Install
from a list or specific location (Advanced)“ and
press “Next” button;
3. “Found New Hardware Wizard” dialog box will
appear. In the opened dialog box, select “Include
this location in the search” and press “Next”
button;
4. “Hardware Installation” dialog box will appear.
Stating that there has been performed any “Windows
Logo” testing to the driver select “Continue
Anyway”;

5. “Found New Hardware Wizard” dialog box will
appear. A successful „NetMos 9835 PCI Multi-I/O
Controller” installation message will appear;
6. Further in the same way install a parallel port
(“NetMos PCI ECP Parallel Port”) and two serial ports
(“NetMos PCI Serial Port”);
7. Once the ports have been installed, a “Hardware Update Wizard” dialog box will appear. Select
“No, not this time” and click “Next”;
8. “Hardware Update Wizard” dialog box will appear. In the opened dialog box, select „Install from a
list or specific location (Advanced)“ and press „Next“ button. “T-ModemPCI modem installation will
begin;
9. After completing the “Found New Hardware Wizard” click “Finish”;

3.3. Installation of “T-Modem Control Tool”
1.The installation program should start
automatically. If it is not the case, so find a catalogue
“Software” in the CD and start “setup.exe” file. The
first “T-Modem Setup” dialog box will be opened;
2.Press “Next” button in the opened box. A second
“T-Modem Setup” dialog box will appear;
3. You can select a preferable driver
installation way in the dialog box. When
“Typical” installation is chosen, a standard driver
will be installed. When “Custom” installation is
chosen, you can install separate driver
components and show the driver installation
folder. When “Complete” installation is selected,
a complete driver installation will take place. It is
recommended to select a “Custom” installation.
The third “T-Modem Setup” dialog box will be
opened;
4. “T-Modem Setup” dialog box will appear. Press
“Next” in the opened dialog box;
5. “T-Modem Setup” dialog box will appear.

6.“T-Modem Setup” dialog box will appear. Enter
dial-up settings in the ialog box. The dial-up
settings are automatically read from a “*ini” file on

the user has to fill in them by him self. He can
obtain the dial-up settings by his GSM operator.

7. A new „T-Modem Setup“ dialog box will state a
successful „T-Modem Control Tool“ installation
process. Press „Finish” button.
3.4. Changing of security setting
For SIM security a unique PIN (Personal Identification Number) is used. Before starting using
GSM network services, it is necessary to enter a PIN code. “T-ModemPCI” supports two main GSM
security modes: “PIN code enabled”, “PIN code disabled”. When “PIN code enabled” mode is chosen,
the PIN code will be required each time the modem is turned on. If the mode „Disabled“ is chosen,
PIN code has to be entered just once and this will not be required further on while turning the device
on.
“T-Modem Control Tool” program is used for changing security settings.
Activating PIN:
1) Start “T-Modem Control Tool”;
2) Select “Search For T-Modem”;
3) Select “Modem -> PIN query”;
4) Select “PIN code enabled” and click OK.
Deactivating PIN:
1) Start „T-Modem Control Tool“;
2) Select „Search For T-Modem“;
3) Select „Modem -> PIN query“;
4) Select „PIN code disabled“ and press OK;
5) A new dialog box will appear, where a PIN of a
SIM card should be entered
6) Enter PIN and press OK
7) If the PIN code is entered correctly, a message
will appear confirming the cancellation of PIN
code checking.
3.5. Controlling of Server
“T-ModemPCI” modem could be applied as a “watchdog” timer and restart a server should it not
respond within a predefined time. “T-ModemPCI” provides an additional Internet connection
channel for servers. System administrators could use this safe connection channel for server
configuration. You can control a COM port of a server directly from your PC. It also gives you the
possibility to send SMS messages from your PC.

T-ModemPCI supports two different types of data transferring:
•GPRS, EDGE packet data transfer. In this case you have to know APN,
user name and password;
•CSD, HSCSD data transfer. You have to know a phone number of a dial-up
server;
If GPRS/EDGE for data transfer is used, you have to set up an APN (Access Point Name).

3.7. Internet connection settings
Getting connected to the Internet:
1. The dial-up connections being set, start “T-Modem
Control Tool” program. The program can be started
also from the PC desktop while clicking on the shortcut.
When the shortcut will be clicked, “T-Modem Control
Tool” dialog box will be opened;
