Installing and Removing the Keyboard
Installing the Keyboard
To install your Compaq iPAQ Foldable Keyboard, complete the following tasks:
■Read the “Before You Begin” section of this guide for pre-installation information.
■Install the software and start the application.
■Connect the keyboard to your iPAQ Pocket PC.
Before You Begin
Before you install the Compaq iPAQ Foldable Keyboard software:
■Disable any other keyboard applications that you have installed on your iPAQ Pocket PC.
(Refer to the user guide included with your iPAQ Pocket PC for instructions on this.)
■Ensure there is at least 50 Kb of memory (450 Kb for the Japanese iPAQ Pocket PC).
Task 1: Install the Software
1. Connect the iPAQ Pocket PC to a computer using the docking cradle or cable.
2. Establish a connection between the computer and the iPAQ Pocket PC using ActiveSync,
then back up the data on your iPAQ Pocket PC. (Refer to the user guide included with
your iPAQ Pocket PC for instructions on this.)
3. Insert the CD into an optical drive on the computer.
4. Software installation begins automatically. Follow the on-screen instructions to install
the software.
✎If installation does not begin automatically, select Start > Run from the Start
Menu on your desktop or notebook computer. In the dialog box, enter X:\Setup
where Xis the letter of your optical drive. Select OK. Follow the on-screen
instructions to complete the installation.
5. After the software is installed, disconnect the iPAQ Pocket PC from the docking cradle
or cable.
6. Using the stylus, press the Reset button on the iPAQ Pocket PC for two seconds. This
allows the device to recognize the keyboard software.
