4. Connect negative cable.
Note: If negative covering is available to prevent accidental
connection of the jump lead and charger on the negative
terminal, this must be installed.
5. Register the new starter battery with a suitable diagnosis
tool on the battery management systems. (E.g. ContiSy-
sCheck, www.vdo.com)
Operation and maintenance
Start-stop and starter batteries (SLI) are maintenance-free.
For your safety
• Never open the battery! Battery acid is highly corrosive and
harmful to the environment.
• Do not remove the safety valves. Do not reill acid or distilled
water.
• Keep the battery clean. Wipe down with a damp cloth as
necessary. Apply acid-free grease (terminal grease, spray
lubricant) to the battery terminal and terminal clamp.
Charging
Only use regulated charging devices with an IV curve and
observe the user guide. Conventional charging devices are not
recommended. Recharging with an external charging device is
necessary in the case of
• battery capacity of <75 % and open-circuit voltage of <12.5 V.
Installing AGM or EFB batteries in vehicle models not speciied by
the manufacturer is prohibited and voids all warranty claims.
Removing the battery
WARNING! Voltage interruption can lead to the failure of individual
components/systems including car radio, immobiliser, car alarm
system, data storage, etc. Save coding before disconnecting the
battery. Ensure continuous voltage with an external power source
when exchanging the starter battery as necessary.
1. Switch of ignition and all items requiring electricity.
2. Caution! First disconnect the battery cable from the negative
terminal, then the positive terminal!
3. Remove the starter battery according to instructions in the
vehicle handbook.
4. Dispose of old battery in an environmentally friendly manner
(see “Disposal”).
Inserting the battery
Observe warnings on the battery cover and information in the
vehicle user guide.
1. Secure the starter battery according to instructions in the
vehicle handbook. Only use original fastening devices!
2. Install vehicle-speciic battery components
such as degassing hose, terminal covers and heat protectors
end exchange if necessary.
3. Connect positive cable.
