SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard. The appliance shall be installed in accordance with national wiring regulations. The range of external static pressures is -0.2Pa to 0.2Pa.Keep the unit 5m or more apart from combustible surfaces.Do not operate your air conditioner in a wet room such as a bathroom or laundry room.
SAFEGUARDING THE ENVIRONMENT
This appliance is made of recyclable or re-usable material. Scrapping must be carried out in compliance with local waste disposal regulations. Before scrapping it, make sure to cut off the mains cord so that the appliance cannot be re-used. For more detailed information on handling and recycling this product, contact your local authorities who deal with the separate collection of rubbish or the shop where you bought the appliance. SCRAPPING OF APPLIANCE This appliance is marked according to the European Directive 2012/19/EU, Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE). However, pay attention to the following points:The basic installation work procedures are the same as the conventional refrigerant (R22 or R410A). CAUTION1.Transport of equipment containing flammable refrigerantsCompliance with the transport regulations2.Marking of equipment using signsCompliance with local regulations3.Disposal of equipment using flammable refrigerantsCompliance with national regulations4.Storage of equipment/appliancesThe storage of equipment should be in accordance with the manufacturer'sinstructions.5.Storage of packed (unsold) equipmentStorage package protection should be constructed such that mechanicaldamage to the equipment inside the package will not cause a leak of therefrigerant charge.The maximum number of pieces of equipment permitted to be stored togetherwill be determined by local regulations.6.Information on servicing6-1 Checks to the area Prior to beginning work on systems containing flammable refrigerants, safety checks are necessary to ensure that the risk of ignition is minimised. For repair to the refrigerating system, the following precautions shall be complied with prior to conducting work on the system.6-2 Work procedure Work shall be undertaken under a controlled procedure so as to minimise the risk of flammable gas or vapour being present while the work is being performed.6-3 General work area All maintenance staff and others working in the local area shall be instructed on the nature of work being carried out. Work in confined spaces shall be avoided. The area around the workspace shall be sectioned off. Ensure that the conditions within the area have been made safe by control of flammable material.6-4 Checking for presence of refrigerant The area shall be checked with an appropriate refrigerant detector prior to and during work, to ensure the technician is aware of potentially flammable atmospheres. Ensure that the leak detection equipment being used is suitable for use with flammable refrigerants, i.e. non-sparking, adequately sealed or intrinsically safe.

CAUTION6-5 Presence of fire extinguisher If any hot work is to be conducted on the refrigeration equipment or any associated parts, appropriate fire extinguishing equipment shall be available to hand. Have a dry powder or CO2 fire extinguisher adjacent to the charging area.6-6 No ignition sources No person carrying out work in relation to a refrigeration system which involves exposing any pipe work that contains or has contained flammable refrigerant shall use any sources of ignition in such a manner that it may lead to the risk of fire or explosion. All possible ignition sources, including cigarette smoking, should be kept sufficiently far away from the site of installation, repairing, removing and disposal, during which flammable refrigerant can possibly be released to the surrounding space. Prior to work taking place, the area around the equipment is to be surveyed to make sure that there are no flammable hazards or ignition risks. “No Smoking” signs shall be displayed.6-7 Ventilated area Ensure that the area is in the open or that it is adequately ventilated before breaking into the system or conducting any hot work. A degree of ventilation shall continue during the period that the work is carried out. The ventilation should safely disperse any released refrigerant and preferably expel it externally into the atmosphere.6-8 Checks to the refrigeration equipment Where electrical components are being changed, they shall be fit for the purpose and to the correct specification. At all times the manufacturer's maintenance and service guidelines shall be followed. If in doubt consult the manufacturer's technical department for assistance. The following checks shall be applied to installations using flammable refrigerants: –The charge size is in accordance with the room size within which therefrigerant containing parts are installed;–The ventilation machinery and outlets are operating adequately and are notobstructed;–If an indirect refrigerating circuit is being used, the secondary circuit shall bechecked for the presence of refrigerant;–Marking to the equipment continues to be visible and legible. Markings andsigns that are illegible shall be corrected;–Refrigeration pipe or components are installed in a position where they areunlikely to be exposed to any substance which may corrode refrigerantcontaining components, unless the components are constructed of materials

CAUTION which are inherently resistant to being corroded or are suitably protected against being so corroded.6-9 Checks to electrical devices Repair and maintenance to electrical components shall include initial safety checks and component inspection procedures. If a fault exists that could compromise safety, then no electrical supply shall be connected to the circuit until it is satisfactorily dealt with. If the fault cannot be corrected immediately but it is necessary to continue operation, an adequate temporary solution shall be used. This shall be reported to the owner of the equipment so all parties are advised. Initial safety checks shall include:–That capacitors are discharged: this shall be done in a safe manner to avoidpossibility of sparking;–That there no live electrical components and wiring are exposed whilecharging, recovering or purging the system;–That there is continuity of earth bonding.7.Repairs to sealed componentsDuring repairs to sealed components, all electrical supplies shall bedisconnected from the equipment being worked upon prior to any removal ofsealed covers, etc.If it is absolutely necessary to have an electrical supply to equipment duringservicing, then a permanently operating form of leak detection shall be locatedat the most critical point to warn of a potentially hazardous situation.Particular attention shall be paid to the following to ensure that by working onelectrical components, the casing is not altered in such a way that the level ofprotection is affected.This shall include damage to cables, excessive number of connections,terminals not made to original specification, damage to seals, incorrect fittingof glands, etc.Ensure that apparatus is mounted securely.Ensure that seals or sealing materials have not degraded such that they nolonger serve the purpose of preventing the ingress of flammable atmospheres.Replacement parts shall be in accordance with the manufacturer'sspecifications.NOTE:The use of silicon sealant may inhibit the effectiveness of some types ofleak detection equipment. Intrinsically safe components do not have to beisolated prior to working on them.8.Repair to intrinsically safe componentsDo not apply any permanent inductive or capacitance loads to the circuitwithout ensuring that this will not exceed the permissible voltage and currentpermitted for the equipment in use.Intrinsically safe components are the only types that can be worked on while

CAUTION live in the presence of a flammable atmosphere. The test apparatus shall be at the correct rating. Replace components only with parts specified by the manufacturer. Other parts may result in the ignition of refrigerant in the atmosphere from a leak.9.CablingCheck that cabling will not be subject to wear, corrosion, excessive pressure,vibration, sharp edges or any other adverse environmental effects.The check shall also take into account the effects of aging or continualvibration from sources such as compressors or fans.10.Detection of flammable refrigerantsUnder no circumstances shall potential sources of ignition be used in thesearching for or detection of refrigerant leaks.A halide torch (or any other detector using a naked flame) shall not be used.11.Leak detection methodsThe following leak detection methods are deemed acceptable for systemscontaining flammable refrigerants:–Electronic leak detectors shall be used to detect flammable refrigerants, butthe sensitivity may not be adequate, or may need re-calibration. (Detectionequipment shall be calibrated in a refrigerant-free area.)–Ensure that the detector is not a potential source of ignition and is suitablefor the refrigerant used.–Leak detection equipment shall be set at a percentage of the LFL of therefrigerant and shall be calibrated to the refrigerant employed and theappropriate percentage of gas (25 % maximum) is confirmed.–Leak detection fluids are suitable for use with most refrigerants but the useof detergents containing chlorine shall be avoided as the chlorine may reactwith the refrigerant and corrode the copper pipe-work.–If a leak is suspected, all naked flames shall be removed/ extinguished.–If a leakage of refrigerant is found which requires brazing, all of therefrigerant shall be recovered from the system, or isolated (by means of shutoff valves) in a part of the system remote from the leak.–Oxygen free nitrogen (OFN) shall then be purged through the system bothbefore and during the brazing process.12.Removal and evacuationWhen breaking into the refrigerant circuit to make repairs – or for any otherpurpose – conventional procedures shall be used.However, it is important that best practice is followed since flammability is aconsideration.The following procedure shall be adhered to:–Remove refrigerant;–Purge the circuit with inert gas;

CAUTION–Evacuate;–Purge again with inert gas;–Open the circuit by cutting or brazing. The refrigerant charge shall be recovered into the correct recovery cylinders. The system shall be “flushed” with OFN to render the unit safe. This process may need to be repeated several times. Compressed air or oxygen shall not be used for this task. Flushing shall be achieved by breaking the vacuum in the system with OFN and continuing to fill until the working pressure is achieved, then venting to atmosphere, and finally pulling down to a vacuum. This process shall be repeated until no refrigerant is within the system. When the final OFN charge is used, the system shall be vented down to atmospheric pressure to enable work to take place. This operation is absolutely vital if brazing operations on the pipe-work are to take place. Ensure that the outlet for the vacuum pump is not close to any ignition sources and there is ventilation available.13.Charging proceduresIn addition to conventional charging procedures, the following requirementsshall be followed:–Ensure that contamination of different refrigerants does not occur whenusing charging equipment.–Hoses or lines shall be as short as possible to minimise the amount ofrefrigerant contained in them.–Cylinders shall be kept upright.–Ensure that the refrigeration system is earthed prior to charging the systemwith refrigerant.–Label the system when charging is complete (if not already).–Extreme care shall be taken not to overfill the refrigeration system. Prior to recharging the system it shall be pressure tested with OFN. The system shall be leak tested on completion of charging but prior to commissioning. A follow up leak test shall be carried out prior to leaving the site.14.DecommissioningBefore carrying out this procedure, it is essential that the technician iscompletely familiar with the equipment and all its detail.It is recommended good practice that all refrigerants are recovered safely.Prior to the task being carried out, an oil and refrigerant sample shall be taken incase analysis is required prior to re-use of reclaimed refrigerant. It is essentialthat electrical power is available before the task is commenced.a) Become familiar with the equipment and its operation.b)Isolate system electrically.

CAUTIONc)Before attempting the procedure ensure that:–Mechanical handling equipment is available, if required, for handlingrefrigerant cylinders;–All personal protective equipment is available and being used correctly;–The recovery process is supervised at all times by a competent person;–Recovery equipment and cylinders conform to the appropriate standards.d) Pump down refrigerant system, if possible.e) If a vacuum is not possible, make a manifold so that refrigerant can beremoved from various parts of the system.f) Make sure that cylinder is situated on the scales before recovery takesplace.g)Start the recovery machine and operate in accordance with manufacturer'sinstructions.h) Do not overfill cylinders. (No more than 80 % volume liquid charge). I ) Do not exceed the maximum working pressure of the cylinder, even temporarily. j ) When the cylinders have been filled correctly and the process completed, make sure that the cylinders and the equipment are removed from site promptly and all isolation valves on the equipment are closed off. k) Recovered refrigerant shall not be charged into another refrigeration systemunless it has been cleaned and checked.15.LabellingEquipment shall be labelled stating that it has been de-commissioned and emptiedof refrigerant.The label shall be dated and signed.Ensure that there are labels on the equipment stating the equipment containsflammable refrigerant.16.RecoveryWhen removing refrigerant from a system, either for servicing ordecommissioning, it is recommended good practice that all refrigerants areremoved safely.When transferring refrigerant into cylinders, ensure that only appropriaterefrigerant recovery cylinders are employed.Ensure that the correct number of cylinders for holding the total system chargeis available.All cylinders to be used are designated for the recovered refrigerant andlabelled for that refrigerant (i.e. special cylinders for the recovery ofrefrigerant).Cylinders shall be complete with pressure relief valve and associated shut- off valves in good working order. Empty recovery cylinders are evacuated and, if possible, cooled before recovery occurs. The recovery equipment shall be in good working order with a set of

CAUTION instructions concerning the equipment that is at hand and shall be suitable for the recovery of flammable refrigerants. In addition, a set of calibrated weighing scales shall be available and in good working order. Hoses shall be complete with leak-free disconnect couplings and in good condition. Before using the recovery machine, check that it is in satisfactory working order, has been properly maintained and that any associated electrical components are sealed to prevent ignition in the event of a refrigerant release. Consult manufacturer if in doubt. The recovered refrigerant shall be returned to the refrigerant supplier in the correct recovery cylinder, and the relevant Waste Transfer Note arranged. Do not mix refrigerants in recovery units and especially not in cylinders. If compressors or compressor oils are to be removed, ensure that they have been evacuated to an acceptable level to make certain that flammable refrigerant does not remain within the lubricant. The evacuation process shall be carried out prior to returning the compressor to the suppliers. Only electric heating to the compressor body shall be employed to accelerate this process. When oil is drained from a system, it shall be carried out safely. CAUTION When moving or relocating the air conditioner, consult experienced service technicians for disconnection and reinstallation of the unit. Do not place any other electrical products or household belongings under indoor unit or outdoor unit. Condensation dripping from the unit might get them wet, and may cause damage or malfunction of your property. Do not use means to accelerate the defrosting process or to clean, other than those recommended by the manufacturer. The appliance shall be stored in a room without continuously operating ignition sources(for example, open flames, an operating gas appliance or an operating electric heater). Do not pierce or burn. Be aware that refrigerants may not contain an odor. To keep ventilation openings clear of obstruction. The appliance shall be stored in a well-ventilated area where the room size corresponds to the room area as specified for operation. The appliance shall be stored in a room without continuously operating open flames (for example an operating gas appliance) and ignition sources (for example an operating electric heater). The appliance shall be stored so as to prevent mechanical damage from occurring.

The pipe-work shall be complianced with national gas regulations.Spaces where refrigerant pipes shall be compliance with national gasregulations.Servicing shall be performed only as recommended by the manufacturer.All working procedure that affects safety means shall only be carried bycompetent persons.The maximum refrigerant charge amount is 0.936 kg.Mechanical connectors used indoors shall comply with ISO 14903. Whenmechanical connectors are reused indoors, sealing parts shall be renewed.When flared joints are reused indoors, the flare part shall be re-fabricated.The installation of pipe-work shall be kept to a minimum.Mechanical connections shall be accessible for maintenance purposes.

Remove packaging materials■Remove and recycle packaging materials.Remove tape and glue residue from surfaces before turning on the air conditioner. Rub a small amount of liquid dish soap over the adhesive with your fingers. Wipe with warm water and dry.■Do not use sharp instruments, rubbing alcohol, flammablefluids, or abrasive cleaners to remove tape or glue. These products can damage the surface of your air conditioner. ■■Handle the air conditioner gently.Keep unit upright at least 2 hours prior to use.WARNINGExcessive Weight HazardUse two or more people to move and install air conditioner.Failure to do so can result in back or other injury.Caution: Installation accessories are stored in the top of the carton, and are required for proper cooling performance. Please remove all accessories from packing materials before use.

LOCAL AIR CONDITIONER USE
Operating your portable air conditioner properly helps you to obtain the best possible results.
This section explains proper air conditioner operation.NOTE: In the event of a power failure, your air conditioner will operate at the previous settings when the power is restored.IMPORTANT:■Do not stay in direct airflow from the air conditionerfor extended periods of time.Never use in tightly enclosed spaces. Always ensurethere is sufficient airflow of outside air entering thehousehold especially when used in conjunction withcombustible devices such as gas stoves, fireplaces,furnaces, hot water heaters etc. Do not place thepower cord or air conditioner near a heater, radiator,stoves or other apparatus(including amplifiers) thatproduce heat.This air conditioner is intended for household use asa residential appliance. Do not use it as a precisionclimate control for commercial use, or for precisionequipment, food, pets, plants, artwork, etc.■■Do not block or obstruct the exhaust vent hose as itmay severely affect performance, or cause failure ofthe air conditioner.■The air conditioner display shows the current room temperature.■■When changing modes while the air conditioner is inoperation, the compressor will stop for 3 to 5 minutes before restarting.
