IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should
always be followed, including the following:
1. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS. All users must read and understand this instruction
manual before operating or cleaning this appliance.
2. The cord to this appliance should be plugged into a 120 V AC electrical outlet only.
3. Use with wall receptacle only.
4. Use on a heat-resistant, at and level surface only.
5. CAUTION HOT SURFACES: This appliance generates heat during use. Follow these
safety precautions to prevent the risk of burns, re or other damage to persons or
property.
6. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use the handles to open, close and move the appli-
ance.
7. To protect against risk of electric shock, do not immerse the cord, plug or cooking
unit in water or any other liquid.
8. This appliance should not be used by children.
9. Extreme caution must be exercised when any appliance is used near children.
10. Unplug from wall outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before
putting on or taking o parts, and before cleaning or storing this appliance.
11. Never yank the cord to disconnect the Contact Grill from the outlet. Instead, grasp
the plug and pull to disconnect.
12. Do not operate any appliance if the cord or plug is damaged. Do not use this appli-
ance if the unit malfunctions, if it is dropped or has been damaged in any way. To
avoid electric shock, never repair the Contact Grill yourself. Bring it to a qualied
technician for repair, or electrical or mechanical adjustment. An incorrect reas-
sembly increases risk of electric shock.
13. The use of accessories or attachments not recommended by the manufacturer
may cause re, electrical shock or injury.
14. Do not use outside or for commercial purposes. This appliance is for household
use only.
15. Do not let the electrical cord hang over the edge of the table or counter, or touch
hot surfaces. The cord can gettangled or cause the appliance to fall, or can melt if
it touches hot surfaces.
16. Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven, as it could
cause the exterior to melt.
17. Use extreme caution when moving any appliance containing hot food, water, oil
or other liquids.

18. Do not leave this appliance unattended during use.
19. The appliance will remain ON unless unplugged. Always unplug aer use.
20. When in use, provide ventilation above and on all sides of the contact grill. Do
not allow the grill to touch curtains, wall coverings, clothing, dish towels or other
ammable materials during use.
21. Do not place unit directly under a cabinet when using; this may result in excessive
heat build-up.
22. Steam may be released between the cooking plates. Take caution to prevent
hands from coming in contact with the steam to prevent burns.
23. Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
24. The appliance is only to be operated in the closed position..

Note: A short power supply cord is to be provided to reduce the
risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a lon-
ger cord. An extension cord is available and may be used if care
is exercised in their use. If an extension cord is used, the marked
electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least as great as
the electrical rating of the appliance. The extension cord should be
arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop
where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over unintention-
ally.
Note: This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than
the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended
to t into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not t
fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not t, contact a
qualied electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.

WARNING
• Use NON-PLASTIC coasters or place mats between the contact
grill and any heat sensitive counter surfaces. Failure to do so
may cause permanent damage or stains.
ELECTRIC POWER
• If the electrical circuit is overloaded with other appliances, your
contact grill may not operate properly. It should be operated
on a separate electrical circuit from other appliances.
CAUTION
• This appliance is hot during operation and retains heat for
some time after unplugging. Always use oven mitts when han-
dling hot materials and allow metal parts to cool before clea-
ning.
• Do not place anything on top of the appliance while it is opera-
ting or while it is hot.

USING YOUR CONTACT GRILL
BEFORE USE
• Unpack the contact grill and place it on a at countertop. Wipe
the outer surface and non-stick plates with a damp cloth.
• To help protect the non-stick surface, coat the grill plates with a
layer of vegetable oil before preheating.
• Some odor may be emitted during initial preheating. This is
normal and will disappear after one or two uses.
USING THE CONTACT GRILL
1. Plug in the power cord to a power supply to preheat with the
lid closed. The red “Power On” light will illuminate and stay on
as long as the appliance is connected to the power supply.
2. The green light will illuminate when the unit is ready for you to
begin cooking. This may take about four minutes.
3. Use the top handle to carefully open the lid, using oven mitts
or a potholder to reduce the risk of injury. Place food on the
bottom cooking plate.
4. Carefully close the lid with the handle.
5. Optimal grilling time will vary according to thickness and type
of food and personal taste.
6. Once the cooking process has nished, open the lid, again
using care and oven mitts or a potholder. Remove food with
a plastic or wooden spatula. DO NOT use metal utensils. They
can damage the non-stick coating.
7. Close the lid to keep the temperature high if you are going to
grill another item.
8. When nished, disconnect the power supply and allow grill to
cool before cleaning.

CLEANING, MAINTENANCE & STORAGE
CLEANING & MAINTENANCE
• Remove the drip tray and clean it under water using mild detergent
and a non-abrasive sponge.
• Unplug the appliance and wait until it cools down completely before
cleaning.
• Wipe the Lid, Cooking Plate and Cover with an absorbent paper tow-
el or a so cloth.
• WARNING: Never immerse the appliance into water for cleaning as
electric shock may occur.
STORAGE
• Make sure unit is unplugged and fully cooled.
• Attach clean drip tray to the contact grill.
• Lower top grill plate.
• Store the cord on the bottom of the Contact Grill by wrapping it
around the back 2 legs and the central hub. Do not put any stress on
the cord where it enters unit, as this could cause it to fray and break..
USDA COOKING GUIDELINES
The United States Department of Agriculture recommends that
meat and poultry be cooked to the following internal tempera-
tures to be certain harmful bacteria has been killed. Cook all food
to these minimum internal temperatures as measured with a
food thermometer before removing food from the heat source.
• Ground turkey and chicken: cooked to an internal temperature
of 165°F / 74°C
• Ground beef, veal and lamb: cooked to an internal tempera-
ture of 160°F / 71°C
• Whole chicken and turkey: cooked to an internal temperature
of 180°F/82°C, for breast to 170°F / 77°C
• Goose and duck: cooked to an internal temperature of 180°F /
82°C
• Fresh beef, veal and lamb: cooked to an internal temperature
of 145°F / 63°C
