Secutity
Before using your Crazy Foil read carefully this document and keep it safely for future
consultation.
WATERSPORTS SAFETY CODE
Hydrofoil use can cause accident with severe injury. Even if Crazy Foil is the easiest hydrofoil to
use on the market it is recommended to follow the instruction carefully and if it is available take
a lesson on how to properly use it.
Before operating your Hydrofoil make sure your insurance cover you properly. In some country,
it may be considered as an extreme sport that may have impact on your insurance coverage.
You are always responsible of your decision and what you do with your hydrofoil.
Before you get in the water: Wakeboard or Kite instruction is recommended before
use. Instruction will teach general safety guidelines and proper use techniques, wich
may reduce your risk of injury. For more information on wakeboard or kite schools,
contact your dealer, Association, or local club.
Know the federal, state and local laws that apply to your area.
If you are not familiar with a waterway, ask someone who is, to tell you about
any hidden dangers to things to avoid.
Whether you plan to be in a watercraft, or riding behind one it is important you
are wearing a properly fitter life jacket (PFD) approved by your country’s agency,
USCG Type III, ISO, etc.
Inspect all equipment prior to each use, check bindings, foils, attachment, tow
rope and flotation device. Do not use if damaged.
Watercraft Safety: A knowledgeable and responsible driver is the most important safety
device on any watercraft.
Never operate a watercraft, wakeboard or kite under the influence of alcohol or
drugs.
Never allow passengers to hang outside the watercraft or towed device or sit on
the gunwales or anywhere outside of the normal seating area.
Never allow water to overflow the bow or gunwales of the watercraft.
Uneven weight distribution or additional weight may affect the handling of the
watercraft.
Carbon Monoxide: The exhaust from the engine on a watercraft contains Carbon
Monoxide (CO) which is a colorless, odorless and poisonous gas. Excessive exposure to
CO can serve injury or death. Follow this advice to avoid injury.
Never ‘’Platform Drag’’ by holding onto the boarding platform or be dragged
directly behind the watercraft.
Do not sit on the watercraft transom or boarding platform while the engine is
running.
Make sure the engine is properly tuned and running well. An improperly tuned
engine produces excessive exhaust and CO.
If you smell engine exhaust do not stay in that position.

Go to the United States Coast Guard’s or your national equivalent website:
www.uscgboarding.org for more information on how to help protect yourself
and others from the dangers of CO.
Tow Ropes: Tow ropes come in different lengths and strengths for different activities.
Make sure any rope you are using is suited for wakeboarding or kiting and that it is in
good condition.
Never use a rope that is frayed, knotted, unraveling or discolored from use or
being left in the sun. If a rope breaks while in use it can recoil at the user being
towed or into the watercraft where it might strike passengers. Replace tow
ropes with any sign of damage.
Never use a tow rope with elastic or bungee material to pull skiers or riders.
Rope should be attached to the watercraft in an approved fashion with hardware
designed for towing. Refer to your watercraft manual for instruction on proper
tow rope attachment.
Always keep people and tow ropes away from the propeller, even when idling.
If a tow rope should become entangled in a propeller, shut off engine, remove
the key and put it in your pocket before retrieving the rope.
Tow ropes should be neat stowed in the boat when not in use.
Preparing to ski or ride: Always have a person other that the drivers as an observer to
look out for the user.
Be sure the driver is aware of the experience and ability level of the user.
The driver, observer and user need to agree on hand signals before riding.
Signals should include READY, STOP, SPEED UP, and SLOW DOWN.
Start the engine only after making sure that no one in the water is near the
propeller.
Turn the engine off when people are getting into or out the watercraft, or in
the water near the watercraft.
Always make sure the tow rope is not wrapped around anyone’s hands, arms,
legs, or other parts of the body.
Start the watercraft and move slowly to remove slack until the tow rope is tight.
When the user signals READY and there is no traffic ahead, take off in a straight
line. Adjust the speed according to the signals given by the skier/rider.
Skiing or Riding : the watercraft and the user should always maintain a sufficient
distance from obstacles so a user falling or coasting and/or watercraft will not
encounter any obstacle.
Do not use in shallow water or near shore, docks, pilings, swimmers, other
watercraft, or any other obstacles.
Use only on water.
Never attempt land or dock starts. This will increase your risk to injury or death.
Always wear a propely fitted life jacket (PFD) approved by your country’s agency,
USCG Type III, ISO, etc.
The faster you go, the greater your risk of injury.
Never make sharp turns that may cause a slingshot effect on the skier/rider’s
speed.
The user should be towed at an appropriate speed for their ability level.

Fallen user: Falling and injuries are common in skiing or riding.
Circle a fallen user slowly to return the tow rope handle or pick up the fallen
user.
Put the watercraft in neutral when near a fallen user.
Always keep the fallen user in view and on the driver’s side of the watercraft.
Display a red or orange skier-down flag to alert other vessels that a user is down.
Here are a few other rules to know and respect for wind traction:
The equipment helmet, flotation device, suit etc. are good contributor to your security, but You
are always responsible of your decision and what you do with Your hydrofoil. There is always
thing that you can’t control to 100%. Be careful and responsible.
Never go by yourself, always have someone with you that can assist if necessary.
Have the right equipment with you:
Helmet: The helmet is recommended to protect you when you fall down and it is even
more important if you fall down on the ground or if you hit obstacle like a boat or water
pack equipment. Better be safe than sorry!
Suit: use the appropriate suit for the water temperature. Getting cold is not comfortable
make you consume more energy, increase you response time, reduce your strength and
finally if fall on the ground or you hit an obstacle it still a ferly good skin protection.
Life vest: In addition to be useful to help you floating during water start or getting
prepare the life vest might be your best friend if you have to swim long distance. More
than anything else it might be you only chance to stay alive if you lose continence during
a severe fall.
Select your site and the appropriate weather conditions
Using a foil request more water than just the board itself even if Crazy foil have a mast
of 20” you still have to be care full on your site selection. Make sure there is no rock
shallow spot hitting the bottom with the foil will be no fun. You can injure yourself or
you can break the Hydrofoil. In addition, learning with waves makes it more difficult.
Finally having a spot without too many people is a good thing Foils goes fast and have
sharp corner. Always make sure you have enough ability to operate by keeping you and
other people in security. Keep you inform of areas not allowed for hydrofoil; close to the
beach, with in navigation area etc..
Wind
If you use wind as traction, too much wind will not help your case if you are still not an
expert. Make sure you have a good orientation before you go to make sure you can
come back. Having the wing punching you to the offshore may put you in trouble if you
do not have yet the skill to come back easily. Talk with peoples that knows the spot they
will give you good advice.

The Warnings and practices in the Watersports Safety Code represent common risks
encountered by users. The code does not cover all instances of risk or danger. Please
use Common sense and good judgment.
WARNING
Use of this product and participation in the sport involves inherent risks of injury or death.
To reduce risks. :
This product has sharp edges, be careful
Always use helmet and life vest when you use this product
If you fall in Kite hydrofoil, the hydrofoil and the board can keep their speed sometime after. Be careful of collisions
A board with hydrofoil can go away quickly. Do not leave it along too long.
Hydrofoil add weight to the board and it is more difficult to maneuver when immerged in water, it generates a lot more drag to side board
movement, manipulation in water has to be done slowly, try to avoid rapid movement
This product should not be used by small children or inexperienced riders.
Rider may read and follow instructions before used.
Rider should always use board with proper boots & bindings, not using proper boots or binding maintaining feet firmly to the board may result in
serious injury or death when pull behind Watercraft.

You are ready to go!
Be careful when you manipulate your board with your Crazy foil installed on it. It
become much bigger and envier. Make sure you do not hit anything or anyone on your
way to the water.
Going to the water
No Mather how you go to the water by waking or getting out of a boat, make sur there
is enough water where you plan to ride. When you come back to shore, do not forget
your foil need more water than a traditional board. Stop before you get in to shallow
water. Finally, do not forget to follow all the security rules mentioned at the beginning
of this document.

How to use your Hydrofoil
Start up
You start pretty much the same way you would do with a normal board. The
major exception is that now that you have a hydrofoil under your board will
longer accept to have side movement. Make sure board always have forward
movement without side movement. Your Hydrofoil act as e very efficient keel
that will make you rolling as soon as you have a side movement.
Getting out of water
As you get out of the water and move forward. Make sure you always keep your
board as level as possible. If you have a positive angle, you may take off before
you are ready. If you have negative angle, you will tip over. If you have a side
angle, you may take off without been in good control.
Take off
When you get to the proper speed, move your center of gravity on the back just
a little bit and you will take off. As soon as you take off bright back your center of
gravity to re level your board. It is recommended at the beginning to make many
take off following by immediate landing. Doing that will help you having a good
feeling of when it is time to make a correction with your body and how big you
need to make a correction.
Turning
Turning with a hydrofoil is pretty much like turning with a bicycle. If you look at
turning with a bicycle step by step you will realized it is the same.
1. Tilt in the direction you want to turn
2. Move you front foot in the direction you tilt
3. The board will start to turn in that direction
4. To stop turning, use your front foot to turn more or less until you get
back to equilibrium
5. Do step 1-5 each time you want to turn.
In real life, you will do it all the time without noticing it very quickly!

Some characteristics of your hydrofoil that is nice to know
How Crazy Foil patented design can help you Hydrofoiling
Crazy Foil is designed to facilitate the operation regardless of your skill level. Crazy Foil is
designed especially to be towed behind a boat and, above all, is the only hydrofoil
forgiving user’s mistakes.
Watch how the board remains stable when the foils reach the surface.
Normal navigation Reaching surface Landing Normal navigation
This behavior is produced by a patented design unique in the world, making the use of
Crazy Foil easier and more enjoyable than any other hydrofoils. Less experienced users
can prolong the pleasure of flying over the water even though the course is strewed
with small mistakes!
Comfort adjustment
Crazy Foil is designed with multiple adjustement features. One of those
features is the ability to move the hydrofoil position on a track to
accurately position Crazy Foil according to the natural boarder position.
With two M8 bolts, it’s possible to precisely repositioning Crazy Foil for
maximum comfort.

Crazy Foil up and down stability and turn inertia
Crazy Foil is designed with the possibility to adjust the responsiveness on vertical
movements, and the inertia on turns. By reducing the distance between the foils,
the responsiveness will increase. It will be easier to ride in the waves and in tight
turns. But it also required more attention to keep the level over the water.
Foils Surface Area
The foil surface area cumulates the
projected surface of all foils. It is a
good indicator of the capacity of the
foils to support a weight. For a given
foil profile, the bigger is the foil
surface area, the more lift it will
generate. Having more surface area
give the ability to support more
weight at a same speed or taking off
at a lower speed for a same weight.
Wet Area
All surfaces in contact with water. This value is one of the indicators used to evaluate the
drag factor. The larger is the wet surface area, the more it contributes to the drag
generated at high speed. Many other parameters can contribute to the drag, but this
one is important at high speed. The calculation includes the Crazy Foil with ½ of the mast
length (considering the other ½ is outside the water!).

Projected surface
All surfaces you see when you look at the
Crazy Foil from the front. This value is one
of the indicator used to evaluate the drag
factor. The higher is the projected surface,
the more it contributes to the drag. Many
other parameters can contribute to the
drag, but this one is important. The
calculation includes the Crazy Foil with ½ of
the mast length (considering the other ½ is
outside the water!).
Range tested without adjustment
This is a very important characteristic of the
new Crazy Foil generation. As the speed
increases to keep the same comfortable
position on your board, you need some forces
to stay well balance:
Border weight = Lift
Moment = forces X perpendicular distance
Moment Traction/drag = Moment Boarder
weight/Lift
As the speed increase, the new Crazy Foil
design wisely moves the position of the lift to
keep equilibrium in moments allowing the
boarder to keep the same comfortable
position on a wide range of speed.

Foil direction stability
In case the hydrofoil gets misaligned with the water flow, there is a difference between
each model to naturally realign with the water flow. The Crazy Foil is the one that
naturally realigns with water flow because of the mini mast placed after the main mast.
It makes the learning process easier.
Crazy Foil lateral rotation inertia
The lateral rotation inertia is mainly guided by the aspect ratio. The aspect ratio is the
relation between the two dimensions of the foil: the chord and the span. In our case,
the chord is the same so the model with 28 inches foil as a bigger aspect ratio
consequently have a bigger inertia to rotation
and requires more force to rotate.
