Overview
The B-D2020 is a compact, lightweight network presenter beltpack unit
designed to fulfill all audio requirements for situations such as pitchside
reporting or presenting.
The unit generates a programme sound microphone output with noiseless diversion
of that output to two discreet talkback outputs plus a combined feed.
There are two volume controls, each volume control may be fed with stereo or mono
audio.
Various talkback key functions, microphone gain, limiter, phantom power and
sidetone are all conveniently adjusted using the OLED display. The display also shows
on-air or talk status and meters the microphone audio for confidence.
The unit may be operated using Power over Ethernet (so just one cable) or via a 12
volt DC adaptor.
Microphone levels may be adjusted in 1dB steps from 0 to +66dB with
switchable 48 volt phantom power.
The B-D2020 will also operate in Dante AES67 mode.
Power
The B-D2020 is ideally operated PoE but if a suitable PoE router is not available it
may be connected using a network cable and a separate 12 volt DC supply.
Network Connections
The green LED on the rear will flicker on successful network connection.
A standard RJ45 cable or a locking Ethercon may be used.
Audio Connections
The microphone input is a 3 pin XLR and the headphone/earpiece jack is a standard
6.35 mm stereo jack. All other ‘audio’ connections are over the network.

Using with Dante Controller
Below is a picture of how the B-D2020 will appear in Dante Controller.
Dante Transmitters
These are the B-D2020 outputs. Programme sound will be active at all times unless a
talkback key is pressed. When button 1 is pressed the programme microphone audio
will be diverted to ‘Keyed 1’. When button 2 is pressed the microphone will be
diverted to ‘Keyed 2”. When either key1 or key2 (or both) are pressed then the audio
will also be available on ‘Keyed 1 + 2
Dante Receivers
These are the Headphone inputs, two stereo feeds are available. Send audio to both
left and right for mono feeds.

Audio Metering
The meter has a slightly wider band to show the position of -18dBFS. Each of the pips
are 4dB apart so the meter will show from -38dBFS to -6dBFS accurately. The meter
is active at all times except when setting up the unit.
Display
The display normally shows the text On-Air, microphone settings and metering.
When a talkback button is pressed the unit will display whichever key is pressed (or
both). If a mute key has been programmed then the display will flash ‘Mic Muted’.
Setting up the B-D2020
To enter setup mode press the Setup button for 3 seconds. The display will change to
show the current microphone amplifier gain. Press the talk ksys (+ or -) to get to the
required setting. Press the button once for adjusting in 1dB steps or press and hold
the required button and the display will scroll fater through the gain settings.
When adjusted as required press the setup button again, the display will now show
phantom power on or off. Press the + or – keys to adjust.
Press again to adjust the microphone limit level range 0dBFS to -20dBFS.
Press again to set key1 function. These are:
1 - Momentary action. Only diverts audio while the button is pressed.
2- Latching action. When pressed audio will be diverted until the button is pressed
again. The switch will illuminate red when active.
3- Disabled. The key does not operate.
4- Mute momentary. The key can be used as a ‘cough key’. The on-air microphone is
switched off but audio is not routed anywhere. ‘Mic Muted’ will flash on the display
when pressed.
5- MuteLatch. As above but with an off off latching action. Again, ‘Mic Muted’ will
flash on the display while the button is latched on and the button will illuminate.
Press again to set key2 function, details as key1.

Press again to set a sidetone level in the headphones range. Nominal level 0 to -39dB
then Off.
Press again and the display will show ‘Exit < or >’. Press either talkback key to exit
setup mode or press the setup button again to go back through the menus.
At any time during programming the setup button may be pressed and held for 3
seconds to exit setup mode and return to ‘On-Air’ mode.
If no buttons are pressed for one minute when in setup the B-D2020 will revert to
normal operation.
