1. Introduction
Before Using the Product
Important
Read and follow the instructions in this user manual before installing, operating or
servicing this product.
The manufacturer will not accept liability for any resulting damages caused by the non-observance of
this manual.
After unpacking, examine the contents of the box. If any parts are missing or damaged, contact your

Intended Use
This device is designed to be used as an active full-range loudspeaker. It is suitable only for indoor use.
Any incorrect use may lead to hazardous situations and result in injuries and material damage.
Any other use, not mentioned under intended use, is regarded as non-intended and incorrect use.

Throughout the user manual the following text conventions are used:

2. Safety
Important

Warnings and Safety Instructions
DANGER
Danger for children
For adult use only. The device must be installed beyond the reach of children.
●Do not leave various parts of the packaging (plastic bags, polystyrene foam, nails, etc.) within
children’s reach. Packaging material is a potential source of danger for children.
DANGER
Electric shock caused by dangerous voltage inside
There are areas within the device where dangerous touch voltage (> 120 V DC) may be present.
●Do not open the device or remove any covers.
●Do not operate the device if the covers or the housing are open.
●Disconnect the device from electrical power supply before service and maintenance, and when the
device is not in use.
DANGER
Electric shock caused by short-circuit
This device falls under IEC protection Class I.
●Make sure that the device is electrically connected to ground (earth). Connect the device only to a
socket-outlet with ground (earth) connection.
●Do not cover the ground (earth) connection.
●Do not bypass the thermostatic switch or fuses.
●Do not let the power cable come into contact with other cables. Handle the power cable and all
connections with the mains with caution.
●Do not modify, bend, mechanically strain, put pressure on, pull or heat up the power cable.
●Make sure that the power cable is not crimped or damaged. Examine the power cable periodically
for any defects.
●Do not immerse the device in water or other liquids. Do not install the device in a location where
flooding may occur.
●Do not use the device during thunderstorms. Disconnect the device from the electrical power supply
immediately.

WARNING
Stability hazard
The device may fall if it is mounted on a distance pole, causing personal injury or death. The device is for
use only with the stands that are recommended in this user manual.
●Make sure that the device is safely mounted on a distance pole.
●Do not place objects on the top of the device when it is mounted on a distance pole. These objects
may fall and cause injury.
Attention
Power supply
●Before connecting the device to the power supply, make sure that the current, voltage and
frequency match the input voltage, current and frequency specified on the information label on the
device.
●Make sure that the cross-sectional area of the extension cords and power cables is sufficient for the
required power consumption of the device.
Attention
General safety
●Do not shake the device. Avoid brute force when installing or operating the device.
●If the device is exposed to extreme temperature variations (e.g. after transportation), do not switch it
on immediately. Let the device reach room temperature before switching it on, otherwise it may be
damaged by the formed condensation.
●If the device fails to work properly, discontinue the use immediately.

This device shall be used only for the purposes it is designed for.
This device is designed to be used as an active full-range loudspeaker. It is suitable only for indoor use.

●This device does not contain user-serviceable parts. Unauthorized modifications to the device will
render the warranty void. Such modifications may result in injuries and material damage.
Attention
Before each use, examine the device visually for any defects.
Make sure that:
●There are no deformations on the housing.
●The power cables are not damaged and do not show any material fatigue.

Attention
Do not expose the device to conditions that exceed the rated IP class conditions.
This device is IP20 rated. IP (Ingress Protection) 20 class provides protection against solid objects greater
than 12 mm, such as fingers, and no protection against harmful ingress of water.
Requirements for the User
This product may be used by ordinary persons. Maintenance and installation may be carried out by
ordinary persons. Service shall be carried out only by instructed or skilled persons. Contact your Highlite
International dealer for more information.
Instructed persons have been instructed and trained by a skilled person, or are supervised by a skilled
person, for specific tasks and work activities associated with the installation, service and maintenance of
this product, so that they can identify risks and take precautions to avoid them.
Skilled persons have training or experience, which enables them to recognize risks and to avoid hazards
associated with the installation, service and maintenance of this product.
Ordinary persons are all persons other than instructed persons and skilled persons. Ordinary persons
include not only users of the product but also any other persons that may have access to the device or
who may be in the vicinity of the device.

3. Description of the Device
The DAP NRG-8A is a 180 W RMS active full-range speaker. It has dedicated line and microphone inputs
and is equipped with Bluetooth 5.0 with TWS (True Wireless Stereo). The device has an internal DSP with 4
modes. The device can be used with an audio mixer, as well as without an audio mixer.

4. Installation
Safety Instructions for Installation
WARNING
Incorrect installation can cause serious injuries and damage of property.
Installation must be carried out only by instructed persons.
Follow all applicable European, national and local safety regulations concerning rigging and trussing.
●Make sure that the overhead structure can hold the weight of the device.
●Make sure that the installation location is free of any obstructions and the speaker cables do not
come in contact with other objects.
Personal Protective Equipment
During installation and rigging wear personal protective equipment in compliance with the national and
site-specific regulations.
Installation Site Requirements
●The device must be installed only indoors.
●The device can be installed on a distance pole, on a speaker stand or suspended from an overhead
structure.
●The maximum ambient temperature ta= 40 °C must never be exceeded.
●The relative humidity must not exceed 90 % with an ambient temperature of 40 °C.

Mounting Options
The device can be mounted on a pole, on a speaker tripod, suspended from an overhead structure with
cables/chains, or mounted to a truss with a clamp. See 3.5. Optional Accessories on page 12.
The device has 2 mounting openings on the bottom for upright (0°) or inclined installation (5°) on a pole
and 3 rigging points on the top for suspended installation.
Installation on a Speaker Stand
WARNING
Stability hazard
The device may fall if it is mounted on a speaker stand, causing personal injury or death. Make sure that
the device is safely mounted.
Make sure that the speaker stand can support the weight of the device.
You can mount the device on a tripod stand or on a speaker stand with a baseplate. See 3.5. Optional
Accessories on page 12.
To mount the device on a tripod stand:
Place the tripod stand on a level stable
surface.
Fully extend the legs of the tripod stand.
Lift the device above the tripod stand.
Place the device on top of the stand so that
the tube of the tripod fits in one of the 2
mounting openings (21)/(22).

Installation on a Distance Pole
You can stack the device on top of a subwoofer with a distance pole. See 3.5. Optional Accessories on
page 12.
To mount the device on a distance pole:
Place the subwoofer on a level stable surface.
Insert the distance pole into the threaded
mounting opening on the top of the
subwoofer.
Turn the distance pole clockwise to secure the
distance pole to the subwoofer.
Lift the device above the tripod stand.
Place the device on top of the distance pole
so that the tube of the distance pole fits in one
of the 2 mounting openings (21)/(22).

Overhead Suspension
CAUTION
Restrict the access under the work area during installation and/or deinstallation.
You can suspended the device on an overhead structure from the 3 rigging points with rigging eyes. See
3.5. Optional Accessories on page 12.
To suspend the device, follow the steps below:
Use a hex key to remove the 3 hex screws from
the 3 mounting openings (01).

Note:
It is recommended to use a fender washer under
the rigging eye to distribute the load on the
enclosure.
Insert the rigging eyes in the 3 mounting
openings (01).
Turn the rigging eyes clockwise to tighten
them.

Make sure that the rigging eyes are fully
seated and oriented in the plane of pull.
Suspend the device on the overhead structure
with suitable suspension cables/chains.
Note:
If the rigging eyes are removed, reinstall the hex
screws in the 3 mounting openings (01). If the
screws are not installed in the 3 mounting openings
(01), air leaks occur in the enclosure. This results in
undesirable performance of the device.

Overhead Mounting with a Clamp
CAUTION
Restrict the access under the work area during installation and/or deinstallation.
You can mount the device with a clamp to a truss. See 3.5. Optional Accessories on page 12.
To mount the device, follow the steps below:
Use a hex key to remove the hex screw from
the mounting opening (01) at the back end of
the device.

Insert the spigot in the mounting opening (01).
Turn the spigot clockwise to tighten it.

Attach the clamp to the overhead structure.
Lift the device under the clamp and insert the
spigot into the socket on the base of the
clamp.
Note:
If the spigot is removed, reinstall the hex screw in
the mounting opening (01). If the screw is not
installed in the mounting opening (01), air leaks
occur in the enclosure. This results in undesirable
performance of the device.

5. Setup
Warnings and Precautions
Attention
Connect all cables before supplying power.
Disconnect power supply before connecting or disconnecting cables.
Connecting Multiple Devices
You can connect 2 or more active full-range speakers in a daisy-chain.
Use a 3-pin XLR cable to connect the 3-pin XLR mix connector OUT (17) of the 1st active full-range
speaker to the combined line-level connector IN (18) of the 2nd active full-range speaker.
Repeat step 1 to connect more active full-range speakers in one setup.

Setup with an Audio Mixer
You can use the NRG-8A in a setup with an audio mixer. In this setup you can connect 2 active full-range
speakers NRG-8A to 1 or 2 active subwoofers (NRG-12SA/15SA/18SA).
To complete the setup, follow the steps below:
Make sure that all devices are switched off.
Connect the active full-range speakers and the active subwoofers. See 5.3.1. Setup with 2 Active
Subwoofers on page 19 and 5.3.2. Setup with 1 Active Subwoofers on page 20.
Set the DSP of the active full-range speakers to +SUB with the DSP button (04). See 6.5. DSP Settings on
page 25.
Set the DSP of the subwoofer(s) to NRG-8A.
Connect the active full-range speakers to the power supply. See 5.6. Connecting to Power Supply on
page 23.
Connect the rest of the devices to the power supply.
Switch on the audio mixer.
Switch on the active full-range speakers. See 6.2. Switching On/Off on page 24.
Switch on the active subwoofer(s).
Adjust the gain controls of the active full-range speakers. See 6.4. Adjusting the Gain on page 25.
Setup with 2 Active Subwoofers
To connect 2 full-range speakers to 2 subwoofers (NRG-12SA/15SA/18SA), follow the steps below:
Use a 3-pin XLR cable to connect the combined line-level connector IN (18) of the 1st active full-
range speaker to the 3-pin XLR connector THRU A of the 1st active subwoofer.
Repeat step 1 to connect the 2nd active full-range speaker to the 2nd active subwoofer.
Connect the active subwoofers to the audio mixer.
