DataCard 500 User manual

Automate your card
issuance backup system
The Datacard®Backup Server
provides a powerful, centralized
backup repository for your
Datacard®9000, 7000 or 500
Series card issuance system. No
more managing cumbersome
tapes and diskettes—or waiting
hours to recover from system
failures. With the Datacard
Backup Server, it’s all integrated
and immediate.
This solution operates
independently of the
CardSystem Manager (CSM)
to securely back up and restore
critical information on client-
connected PCs and the CSM.
It also provides a secondary
data source when a primary
data link is broken. So, opera-
tors can work right through
situations that would otherwise
require extensive downtime
and lost revenue.
Convenient, centralized
backup and storage
In addition to backing up
and storing cardholder data,
the Datacard Backup Server
gives you a centralized storage
and access repository for
configuration and setup man-
agement, including all setups,
fonts, logos and templates. A
scalable, modular design gives
you freedom to configure back-
up processes that match your
needs, and make easy upgrades
and add new users as your
needs change.
Fast failure recovery time
Traditional methods for
rebuilding corrupted systems
often take hours—or days—to
complete. By maintaining
correct, current data on the
Datacard Backup Server, you
can rebuild systems in a matter
of minutes.
An instant alternative
data source
The moment your primary
production data source
becomes inaccessible, the
Datacard Backup Server can
move into action, providing a
secondary channel for the data
to reach your card issuance
system. Your operators simply
choose a new data source.
Share data and
configurations over
a network
The Datacard Backup Server
eliminates the tedium of going
from system to system to load
and store files, once and for all.
By creating a common directo
ry
and file structure that allows
data to be shared over a
network, it allows authorized
users to share system setup
information, fonts, logos and
UltraForm™templates from
the convenience of their
PC desktops.
Backed by a wealth of
service and support
A responsive team of
professionals can assist you
with all your initial and
ongoing Datacard Backup
Server needs—including every
phase of installation, training,
administration and upgrades.
Our expertise includes
working within a networked
environment on archiving,
adding and removing devices
and shared information,
upgrading operating systems
and managing directories,
subdirectories and audit trails.
