CLEANING
8
LIMITS OF USE
The following operations must be performed
once per year. After removing the detector:
Clean the slots on the side of the side of
the detector using a vacuum cleaner and a
soft brush.
Clean the outside of the cover using a
damp cloth.
The smoke alarm detector is a device that
gives a rapid warning of any outbreak of fire
at a reasonable cost. However, residential
fires can break out in different ways and are
often unpredictable.
Yet it can fail to warn you of a fire if:
- The battery is low or the wrong type.
- The detector is not clean.
- It is mounted in the wrong place or the
smoke does not reach it.
- The operational test is not regularly done.
It is advisable to replace this detector after
5 years.
Cleaning your detector is essential
for your safety. If your detector is
positioned in a dirty area, you must
clean it more frequently in order to
ensure that it operates efficiently.
The DOFX helps save lives, but
does not exempt you from taking
out insurance to protect persons
and property.
1
PRESENTATION
The DOFX wireless smoke detector is desi-
gned to detect the start of a slow burning
fire. The detection of smoke particles is indi-
cated by a radio message to the TYXAL
control unit which then triggers the alarm.
It is suitable for 24 hour per day surveillance
of private homes (house, apartments, mobi-
le home, caravan, etc.).
Any presence of smoke is indicated by the
flashing red LED and the sounding of the
audible alarm.
Whatever the state of the system (sur-
veillance On / Off), when smoke is detected:
- The CSX control unit emits warning beeps
(beep, beep, beep, etc. for 45 seconds if
the fault is no longer present, or 4 cycles of
45 seconds if the fault is continuous).
The fault will be indicated by the “alarm”
LED 1.
- A telephone call cycle is triggered.
It will indicate “fire alarm, press on star”,
and your personal message.
- On a control keypad with display, “technical
detector” appears on the screen, followed
by its identity (to be personalized).
Note:The system siren does not sound
because it is a “technical alarm”.
2
FITTING
RECOMMENDATIONS
The detector must preferably be attached to
the ceiling in the centre of the room or:
- more than 20 cm from any obstacle
(wall, beam, etc.).
- more than 60 cm from any corner in the
room.
If this is not possible, mount the detector on
the wall at a distance of 15 to 25 cm from the
ceiling.
Contents:
- a wireless smoke detector,
- an installation and user guide,
- a packet of screws.
This does not detect gas.

has already been recorded.
- Close the battery cover of the control
unit.
Stand at a reasonable distance
from the detector to protect your
hearing from the loud alarm.
Do not try to trigger an alarm by
any other means (by using a lighter,
etc.). You could damage the detec-
tor.
4
REPLACING THE
BATTERY
- Remove the detector
from the base by turning
it anticlockwise.
- Pierce at the indicated
place and mount the base
using the 2 attachment
screws and pins provided
(∅5 mm).
- Fit a 6LR61 type 9 Volt
battery (see section § 4).
- Secure the detector onto
the base by turning it
clockwise.
3
INSTALLATION
The DOFX is equipped with a
safety device that prevents it from
being secured without the battery.
Do not install the detector:
- Less than 1 m from heating, cooling, or
aeration vents.
- In a location where the temperature may
go below 0°C or above 50°C; the detector
may malfunction.
- In a location where there is a lot of
condensation (bathroom, laundry room) or
grease (oven, boiler), in a location where
smoke may be produced (kitchen or a
garage which is not aired), or in a dusty
place.
Never throw away the used battery. It must
be taken back to the point of purchase.
We recommend that you change the batte-
ry once a year.
Never use a rechargeable battery
Low battery indication:
The detector will emit an audible beep every
minute when the battery is low. You must
therefore replace the battery as follows:
- Remove the detector from the base by
turning it anticlockwise.
- Remove the used battery.
- Fit a new 6LR61 type 9 Vdc alkaline
battery respecting the indicated polarity
and replace it in its compartment.
- Secure the detector onto the base by
turning it clockwise.
- Check that the detector is operating
correctly (section § 6).
For mobile homes:
- For recent mobile homes designed with
adequate insulation, install the detectors on
the ceiling.
- For poorly insulated mobile homes, a ther-
mal barrier may form on the ceiling, install
the detector on a wall.
2 3
The Tyxal control unit must be in
Maintenance mode (press the ON and OFF
buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds on an
already recognized control device and open
the battery cover on the control unit).
