Hazard for children and a wider group of persons
zThis device is not intended for use by persons (including children) with limited physical,
sensory or mental abilities or lacking experience and/or knowledge, unless they are
supervised by a person responsible for their safety or have received instructions for use
of the device from this person in advance.
zSupervise your children in order to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
zKeep packaging bags and films away from babies and small children; there is a risk of
suffocation!
Hazard from electricity
zThe base and power cable must not be immersed in water or other liquids. Electrical
shock hazard! Therefore, also do not use the kettle in the vicinity of moisture sources,
e.g. a sink.
zThe kettle is filled with water, but must not be immersed in water itself. Water must
not come into contact with the electric parts in the bottom section and with the base.
zDo not operate the appliance with wet hands.
zDo not operate the appliance outdoors.
zConnect the appliance to a properly installed safety socket with voltage corresponding
to the “technical data”.
zEnsure that the socket is well-accessible, so that you can remove the mains plug quickly,
if necessary.
zAlways switch the kettle off prior to filling with water.
zDo not operate the kettle unsupervised.
zDo not use the appliance:
- if the kettle or base are damaged,
- if the power cable or mains plug are damaged,
- if the kettle has fallen.
zUnwind the power cable completely prior to use. In doing so, ensure that the power
cable is not damaged by sharp edges, hot items or rotating parts.
zDisconnect the mains plug from the socket:

zDo not carry out any modifications to the appliance or its power cable. Only have
repairs carried out by a professional workshop, as devices that have not been properly
repaired can be hazardous to the user. Also pay attention to the enclosed guarantee
conditions.
zDo not use an extension cord. If the power cable of this appliance should be damaged,
it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its after-sales service or customer service in
order to avoid hazards.
zThe appliance must not be connected to a time switch, a dimmer switch or any other
remote control system.
Burning/scalding and fire hazard
zThe kettle becomes hot during use. Burn hazard! Only hold the handle.
zWhen heating and during boiling, hot water vapour escapes. Scalding risk if touched!
zClose the lid prior to switching the appliance on. Otherwise, the appliance cannot
switch off automatically and the hot water can overboil. Ensure that the lid is locked in
place.
zWARNING: Do not open the lid during boiling and pouring. Risk of scalding from hot
water vapour!
zPay attention to the MIN and MAX filling marks:
- If insufficient water is filled (below MIN), the kettle can overheat.
- If too must water is filled (above MAX), hot water can spray out of the kettle.
Burn hazard!
Injury hazards from other causes
zDo not allow the power cable to hang over the edge of the table top or work surface.
You could become caught on it or children could pull the appliance down with it.
Caution – property damage
zOnly use the supplied base.
zPlace the appliance on a sturdy, level surface. When doing so, make sure the appliance
is not located near sources of heat e.g. hot plates, heating pipes etc. The power cable
must lie securely in the cable recess of the base, so that the based stands securely.
zPosition the appliance so that hot water vapour will be ventilated away from other
objects. Do not position the kettle beneath a hanging cabinet or shelf and turn the
spout away from sensitive surfaces or wallpaper. Also maintain a distance to easily
flammable materials, e.g. curtain or table cloth.

zThere are feet on the underside of the base. As the furniture/floor surfaces are made
of diverse materials and are treated with diverse care products, it cannot be entirely
ruled out that some of these materials contain components, which could attack and
soften the appliance feet. If necessary, place a non-slip underlay under the base.
zDo not clean the kettle with hard, scratching or abrasive detergents, steel wool, or
similar.
As soon as the mains plug is inserted into a socket and the kettle is placed on the

Keeping water warm
The kettle has a keep-warm function.
zWith a temperature of 40, 60, 80 or 100 °C, you can keep the water warm for approx.
30 minutes. Afterwards, the kettle switches off automatically; two signal tones will
sound and all LEDs will extinguish.
zIf you have set a keep-warm temperature of 100 °C, the water will be kept warm within
a range of 90-100 °C, in order to avoid excess steam generation.
zIf you have set a keep-warm temperature of 40, 60 or 80 °C, the kettle will keep the
temperature approx. 8 °C below/above the set temperature.
Please note:
zOnly use the keep-warm function if a minimum of 0.5 litres of water are in the kettle.
Otherwise, the small amount of water could boil away during the next 30 minutes and
the dry-run protection (see page 11) will switch the appliance off.
zIf you cannot set a temperature, it is probably because the water temperature in the
kettle is still higher than the desired temperature.
zYou can stop the boiling procedure at any time by pressing the on/off button or the
KEEP WARM button
zAs soon as you lift the kettle off of the base, the appliance will switch off and all settings
will be lost.
The keep-warm function can be activated before, during and directly after boiling water.
Prior to boiling water:
1. Press the KEEP WARM button.
2. Press the SET TEMP button repeatedly until the appropriate temperature LED
illuminates in the operating panel.
3. Press the on/off button in order to start the boiling and subsequent keep-warm
process.
The LED of the relevant temperature, the KEEP WARM and on/off button will
illuminate.
The water is heated and then kept warm.
During boiling:
1. Proceed as described in the “Boiling water” section (see from page 8).
2. Press the KEEP WARM button during boiling.
After the water has boiled, the LED of the relevant temperature, the KEEP WARM
and on/off button will illuminate.
The water will continue to be kept warm after heating

Dry-run protection
A dry-run protection safeguards the appliance from damage. The protection switches on
automatically if no more liquid is in the kettle.
The dry-run protection should only be used as a safety device. It is not intended
to be part of the normal operating procedure for the appliance.
If the dry-run protection has been activated:
1. Disconnect the power plug from the socket.
2. Allow the kettle to cool off.
Then, you can fill the kettle with water again and use it as usual.
Cleaning + descaling
Cleaning
HAZARD
- The base, kettle and power cable must not be immersed in water or other
liquids. Electrical shock hazard!
- Remove the plug from the socket before cleaning the appliance.
- Allow the appliance to cool off completely before cleaning it. Burn hazard!
CAUTION
Do not open the lid during boiling and pouring. Risk of scalding from hot water
vapour!
1. Remove the plug from the socket and allow the kettle to cool off completely.
Wipe the outside of the kettle clean with a slightly damp cloth.
2. Clean the base with a dry cloth.
3. Open the lid and remove the sieve that is fastened in front of the spout. For this, press
the sieve down slightly and then fold it off.
The sieve prevents limescale deposits and dirt particles from being poured out.

4. Rinse the sieve under running water or clean it using a damp cloth.
5. Reinsert the sieve into its holder in front of the spout. Ensure that it locks in securely.
If the sieve is already very calcified, place it into a mixture of water and vinegar (6:1
ratio) for a few hours. Afterwards, rinse the sieve with plenty of clear water.
Descaling
You should descale the kettle on a regular basis, as a very calcified kettle requires more
electricity. How often the appliance needs descaling will depend on the hardness of the
water used and frequency of use.
zWith normal use, you should descale the kettle every 3 months with soft water and 1x
per month with hard water.
zYou should descale the appliance regularly to avoid thick calcification forming on the
heating element in the kettle.
You can obtain information about the water hardness in your area from the local
water authority.
For descaling, you can use commercially available descaler (pay attention to manufacturer
instructions) or mix household vinegar with water in a 1:1 ratio.
1. Fill the kettle with descaling liquid and boil it.
2. Afterwards, leave the liquid to take effect, for approx. half an hour.
3. Where thick calcification is present: Boil the descaling liquid a second time.
Then, pour it away.
4. Refill the kettle with fresh water, boil the water and also pour it away.
Afterwards, you can use the kettle as usual.
