Product Features & Specifications
The Devine EZ-Creator Key XL is a relatively compact MIDI key oard with 49 keys and the
asic features needed to play simple chords into (for example) the included Bitwig software
or other music production software or DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations).
Below, you will find an overview of all of the features offered y the EZ-Creator Key XL:
1. Keys
The key ord of the EZ-Creator Key XL has 49 keys that are a little smaller and narrower
than those of a standard piano or key oard. This is so that the device remains compact,
while it can still e used to play complex chords and melodies. The keys are velocity
sensitive to a specific degree and provide the perfect level of functionality for any eginning
producer who may only use a few chords at first.
2. Fader
Using the multi-functional and assigna le fader of the EZ-Creator Key X, you can specify
whether it functions as a master volume fader, or as a pitch controller.
This is also referred to as the M.P.V. function and includes a utton to switch etween the
different functions: Pitch, Modulation, and Volume.
This utton can e found directly a ove the fader.
Using the editor software, a different function can e assigned to the fader. For example, it
can e assigned to function as a rever effect control.
3. Edit Button with ‘+’ and ‘-’ Buttons
The Edit utton switches etween three different functions. The Octave function is the
default selection. In this mode, the LED is not lit and the ‘+’ and ‘-’ uttons are used to shift
the pitch of the key oard up or down y an entire octave.

By pressing the Edit utton once, the Transpose function is activated. While this mode has a
similar function to Octave, it shifts the pitch of the key oard y half an octave. Press the Edit
utton once more and the LED will start to link, indicating that the Multi-Functional mode
has een activated. The key oard can now serve a secondary function y accessing and/or
adjusting certain settings.
In Octave mode, the octave can e shifted y max. -3 or max. +3. The Transpose function
can e shifted y max. -12 or max. +12.
4. Connections
The EZ-Creator Key XL comes with the all of the connections required for controlling
hardware as well as software.
This starts with the fitted analogue 5-pin DIN port, so that this key oard can e used as a
standalone device, as a secondary key oard for a workstation, or as the controlling
key oard for a synthesizer.
A socket to which a pedal can e connected has also een included. A simple sustain pedal
can e connected to this socket using a 6.35mm TS jack plug.
A USB-B port has also een included. This dou les as a power input as well as the MIDI
data output to a computer or laptop. The EZ-Creator Key XL can e powered via USB while
sending MIDI data via the 5-pin DIN port, making the device as versatile as possi le.
System Requirements
So that your EZ-Creator model functions properly when connected to your computer or
laptop, the computer or laptop must meet the minimum system requirements. If your laptop
or computer does not meet the minimum system requirements, this may cause the EZ-
Creator to function incorrectly.
Windows Mac OS

(laptop CPU may require higher)
256 MB RAM
DirectX 9.0 or higher
Windows XP (Service Pack 2) or higher
Windows 98, ME, NT and 2000 are not
supported
Macintosh G3* 800/G4 733 MHz or higher
(laptop CPU may require higher)

Basic Functionality
Connecting the EZ-Creator to a computer or laptop
The EZ-Creator should e automatically recognised as a generic MIDI input and output
device as soon as it is connected to a computer or laptop. If you’re using an application that
supports MIDI input, go to the settings and select the EZ Creator as the MIDI INPUT device.
Connecting the EZ-Creator via analogue 5-pin DIN
Every EZ-Creator key oard comes fitted with a 5-pin DIN port that supports a MIDI OUT
signal so that the EZ-Creator can also e used as a secondary key oard for other
key oards and workstations that support this, or to control a synthesizer module.
Powering the EZ-Creator
The EZ-Creator is powered via USB when connected to a laptop or computer.
If you are not using the EZ-Creator with a computer or laptop, then a USB power supply
can e used to power it. This USB power supply must e a le to deliver a minimum of
500mA at 5V DC.
Ma ing Sound/Music with the EZ-Creator
A MIDI key oard like the EZ-Creator cannot produce sound on its own, ut sends a specific
signal to another device or software to control the sounds that that device or software is a le
to generate. This can e a software package or an external synthesizer.
Using the Editor (CD)
The EZ-Creator Series models come with a special Editor CD that can e used to adjust
some of the details of your controller. For example, you can adjust the MIDI note per key.
Making these adjustments can make it much easier to use your controller with external
hardware that needs to receive specific MIDI messages in order to trigger specific functions.
You can also set up details like the MIDI channel over which the controller outputs its MIDI
data.
Below is a summary of the adjustments that can e made using the Editor CD:
– setting the MIDI channel
– setting the key velocity (velocity/touch sensitivity) in 5 levels
– pedal input settings (CC num er, minimum value, maximum value)
– slider/fader settings (CC num er, minimum value, maximum value)
General uttons/kno s:
– Ena le/Disa le function, to lock keys or send out a signal
– CC message setting
