Use of the speaker
When using use the MOH 15A for lots of different purposes, it is important to be aware of all the functions
and options of the unit. This section reveals all kinds of information which you can use to use the MOH 15A
optimally. This also ensures optimal audio uality, for music as well as vocals. Please read these tips
thoroughly and use this information as a reference sheet if you want to know how to use a certain function
most efficiently.
Audio inputs and volume control
Please make sure that the audio uality of your signal source is optimal. If you connect any auxiliary
hardware, please ensure that the sound played through it is of high uality (no low uality audio files) and is
not distorted. Distortion may be caused at your music source, usually because one of the gain settings is not
set properly. This may be visible on your auxiliary product because peak LEDs are blinking or red LEDs are
active on your LED VU-meters.
Ensure that the maximum output level of your auxiliary products is 0dB or as close to it as possible. For
dynamic microphones it is not possible to adjust or monitor the input volume. Please adjust the volume
knobs until the desired volume is reached and listen if the sound uality is OK. If large amounts of distortion
are present, it may be caused because the microphone channel volume is driven all the way up. Ensure that
the person holding the microphone is holding it properly (like drinking from a glass, but not touching the lips).
Most unexperienced people hold the microphone too far from their mouth, which makes it hard for the
microphone to capture proper sound.
Master level
The speaker is not e uipped with a master level volume knob. Instead, the mix of the different channels will
create the master mix. Usually, this only needs to be set once with minor changes. When connecting several
audio sources to the MOH 15A and if the volume needs to be changed multiple times each time, a separate
audio mixer could be more useful to create a proper audio mix on the desired volume.
Bluetooth function
The MOH 15A is e uipped with a Bluetooth function, which makes it possible to stream music from any
Bluetooth-enabled smart device, such as a laptop, smartphone or tablet. Mostly Bluetooth is used for
background music purposes or for simple music playback during performance. Please note however that
Bluetooth is wireless and not 100% reliable for music playback. This counts for every Bluetooth music
streaming device. Fre uency interference may cause disturbance and loss of signal. If it is possible, please
use a cable to connect your device to the speaker, for optimal and reliable music playback.
Line input
The line input of the mixer can be used in several ways. It can be used with the dual RCA connectors for DJ-
booth monitoring, but also as main PA. Usually the MOH 15A is connected to a DJ controller, DJ mixer or PA
mixer. Connecting other devices may be an option, but please contact your local dealer when in doubt.
MP3 player
The built-in MP3 player can be used as a music playback device and also hosts the Bluetooth function. The
MP3 player accepts SD(HC) cards and USB thumb drives. It is recommended not to connect high-capacity
storage devices of more than 32 GB, as the large volume of the storage device may cause trouble when
searching for a specific file.
EQ Treble/Bass
The built-in EQ is used to adjust the fre uency balance of the loudspeaker. It is possible to amplify or
decrease low and high fre uencies if the situation re uires this. However, Devine advises to use the EQ with
caution. This is because the EQ function can not be used as an amplifying device and may cause distortion
of the audio signal, thus losing music uality. It is recommended to reduce the volume of the opposite
fre uency range. For example, if you use the MOH 15A for speech applications, large amounts of low
fre uencies are not welcome. For these kinds of applications, you can reduce the Bass level, thus reducing
the amount of low fre uencies in the audio signal. This will ensure more vocal clarity.
EQ MP3 player
Any information and illustrations shown in this user manual are subject to change without further notice.
User manual version: 1.0 Creation date + author initials: 17-06-2015 RV Revision date + author initials:

During MP3 playback of an USB or SD drive or while streaming music from your Bluetooth enabled
streaming device, it is possible to select one of the built-in EQ presets of the MP3-player. This way, you can
adjust the sound to your preferences. Please note that the sound is most accurate if the EQ function is not
used, as it will change the sound. The EQ preset function can not be used for FM radio.
FM radio
The integrated FM radio of the MOH 15A makes it possible to listen to FM radio fre uencies, starting at 87.5
MHz. With the included remote or the menu buttons on the speaker, you are able to change radio stations. It
is also possible to create up to 30 radio presets, based on the strongest FM radio signals which can be found
by the integrated player and antenna. There is no physical antenna present on the speaker panel.
Using the included remote
The included remote control is solely used for the built-in MP3 player. It can be controlled up to a distance of
about 15 meters, if aimed properly and not blocked by any objects in its path. Please ensure that you are
standing directly in front of the speaker, as the infrared sensor is placed at the front of the speaker. The
included remote can be used to change signal sources, change tracks or radio stations, play certain songs of
a SD card or USB thumb drive and is used to change the EQ presets. When using the remote for the first
time, please remove the transparent tab which is sticking out of the remote bottom, in the battery
compartment. This makes sure the included CR2025 battery is activated and makes contact with the
terminals, ready for use.
Clipping
The amplifier section of the MOH 15A is e uipped with a CLIP limiter with LED indication. Clipping can be
present because the input channels of the speaker are driven with a signal which is too strong. This can be
reduced by lowering the channel volume, or checking and lowering the volume of the audio source (such as
a DJ mixer).
Clipping of an audio amplifier needs to be prevented as much as possible, because the amplifier can not
provide the right amount of power with its internal components. This situation can be compared with a person
who can carry a weight of maximum 20 kilograms. If you force the person to carry a weight of more than 30
kilograms, he will not be able to lift the weight. The same counts for your power amplifier, which is trying to
deliver the re uested amount of power, while overloading the internal components. This may not only cause
temporary distortion of the sound, but can also cause a lot of harm to all internal components of the speaker!
Defects may be caused to the amplifier module because of overloaded components, but also the speaker
component such as the woofer may be damaged permanently as the overloaded components will deliver a
distorted sound that damages the speaker.
It Is therefore strongly recommended to keep an eye on the CLIP LED limiters on the speakers and take
proper action if the LED is lit or slightly blinks. Listen carefully to your loudspeakers and ensure that the
audio source is sending a signal of the best possible uality, to prevent distortion and a lack of uality in the
sound.
Speaker stand
The MOH 15A is delivered with a speaker stand, which makes it possible to position the speaker on human
ear level. This ensures that high fre uencies will be spread more evenly over the listening audience, as high
fre uencies reflect more than low fre uencies. When placing the speaker on the floor, the high fre uencies of
the tweeter will reflect more easily, which makes it more difficult to reach your audience with vocals and
music.
When using the speaker stand, make sure the base tightening knob is turned counter-clockwise. Pull the
speaker stand legs so the three legs will spread and form a solid, wide base. When the desired width is
reached (a floor diameter of about 1m), tighten the base tightening knob. To extend the speaker stand,
loosen the upper tightening knob so the speaker pole comes loose and can be set to the desired level. When
the desired level has been reached, tighten the knob. Ensure that the safety pin of the speaker stand can still
be installed, to ensure a safe positioning of your speaker.
Stand adapter
The MOH 15A is e uipped with a 35 mm stand adapter with integrated tightening knob. The 35 mm stand
adapter can be found at the bottom of the loudspeaker, while the tightening knob is found at the bottom rear
Any information and illustrations shown in this user manual are subject to change without further notice.
User manual version: 1.0 Creation date + author initials: 17-06-2015 RV Revision date + author initials:

of the speaker. It is recommended to place the MOH 15A on a speaker stand when used, because high
fre uencies are very sensitive to dispersion, opposed to low fre uencies. By placing the speaker on a stand,
where the dispersion horn of the tweeter is just positioned above your audience, the ideal dispersion of high
fre uencies is ensured.
The MOH 15A can be used with regular speaker stands which usually have a diameter of around 35 mm (or
a value which is very close to this), such as the included speaker stand. Before placing the speaker on a
stand, loosen the tightening knob so it will not interfere with the speaker stand.
After this, lift the speaker and place it gently on the speaker stand. Do not let the speaker fall on the stand
when the stand adapter is inserted to the stand, as the housing of the cabinet may break and cause
permanent damage. Gently place the speaker on the stand and tighten the knob on the back of the speaker
afterwards. This knob only needs to be tightened by hand, excessive force on the knob needs to be
prevented. The tightening knob is only used to secure the speaker on the stand, thus making it impossible to
wobble or turn around during use. Also resonance of loudspeaker vibrations are prevented this way.
Protective grill
The front of the speaker is e uipped with a protective grill for the woofer. As the woofer is a very sensitive
part of the speaker, it needs to be protected sufficiently during transport, use and storage. Therefore it is
prohibited to remove the speaker grill, thus preventing damage to speaker components.
Bass reflex system
The MOH 15A speaker is e uipped with a bass reflex chamber system. This is a specific loudspeaker
cabinet solution to increase low fre uency volume. If the speaker is used at high volume, it may be possible
that air vibrates near the bass reflex speaker gaps. This is perfectly normal. However, do not put any objects,
li uids or small items like confetti in the openings to prevent damage to the speaker and its internal
components.
Handles and wheels
The Devine MOH 15A is e uipped with handles on both sided of the speaker cabinet and an extra handle on
top. This ensures secure and easy transport of the speaker as you can lift it with both hands. The integrated
wheels make it easy to roll the speaker into a van or car.
Using the included dynamic microphone
The included dynamic microphone can be used for vocal applications and is mostly used for presentations
and speeches. When using the microphone, ensure a proper microphone positioning. When giving it to
somebody who is not experienced with the use of microphone, please instruct them properly. Ensure that
the person holding the microphone is not standing directly in front of, or next to the MOH 15A speaker (or
any speaker for that matter). If this happens, there is a very large chance of audio feedback. This can be
caused by sound that is picked up from the microphone, amplified by the speaker, picked up by the
microphone, amplified by the speaker and so on, which is mostly recognizable by a high-pitched static
s ueaking noise. If this kind of feedback is present, take immediate action and move the microphone away
from the speaker or lower the microphone level on the speaker panel.
