5. Programming via SMS
The Digit Primo is shipped with 30s updates as standard. It will also send the SOS to a test SMS location, in order to send to your desired
recipient you will need to send an SMS. The default settings are for MTN and changes will need to be made if you wish to use a Vodacom
card.
5.1 SOS message numbers
A maximum of three recipient numbers can be added for sending SOS messages
You will need to send the following SMS to the device depending on if you want to teach it one, two or three numbers
(For one number) AT+GTGLM=AIR11,1,1,3,+27831234567,,,,,,,000D$

The characters in RED indicated the 30s time interval
In order to alter the time between position sending later the values of XX with a number between 10 and 86400s
86400 s is 24hours

By default the device will not try to unlock the SIM card using a PIN number. However to protect users from using the SIM card to make
calls, you may wish to lock the SIM card with a PIN. BEFORE inserting the PIN locked SIM card you will need to teach the device the PIN
and instruct it to enter the code before starting up. Use a SIM card with NO PIN in order to teach it the code.

To revert back to the South African settings send the following
AT+GTBSI=AIR11,internet,internet,internet,,,,,0002$
6. Battery Life
Many users ask what is the battery life of the Digit Primo? This is a bit of a variable and is thus very hard to quote accurately. Experiments
have shown that if used for a whole day by a guard doing patrols, the Primo comfortably made 13 hours at 30s moving updates. Another
test during the comrades where the runner ran without stopping, the battery lasted the 6h30min run as well as 3 hours afterwards, again
on a 30s update. Extending the update time to 5 minutes instead of 30s has increased the battery time to 48 hours on some tests. And
then in one test under ideal test situations the battery lasted almost 7 days with once per hour updates. Depending on the temperature,
movement ratio and the age of the device the figures above may vary.
Remember you can check the battery percentage under the “BattV” column of the Digit software.
The manufacturer suggests that the latest firmware they have developed will allow the battery to last for a year if the device only
updates once per year. We suggest that this is unlikely because during such a long period the battery is likely to go flat with even low or
no load. As the product is new we also have not had a whole year to test it.
