1. Introduction
The MSMGE104+ is a MICROSPACE Gigabyte
Ethernet PC/104-Plus peripheral card.
The PC/104+ compliant board extend a PC/104+
CPU board with a one gigabyte LAN (Local Area
Network) connection.
The board is produced with high quality, compo-
nents with long term availability. Before delivery
each device goes through a stress under hard
conditions.
The product is not fully qualified by DIGITAL-
LOGIC AG. This user manual is the first draft edi-
tion and does not fully describe all necessary in-
formation for the user to install and operate this
board.
Please check weekly for new relases of this de-
scription.

2. Important information
Warning
Maintenance must primarily be carried out through
qualified personnel. Refrain from touch the board if
it is powered because of danger of an electrical
strike.
Waste disposal information
The packing material is selected according to envi-
ronment friendly aspects and therefore recycling is
possible.
Claim for warranty
The claim for warranty is valid for 2 years
from date of purchase (original receipt is
needed as proof and therefore has to be
stored). The internationaly valid factory war-
ranty contains defects of hardware and pe-
ripheral components which are delivered
together with the hardware.
Warranty is only granted when the device is
not dismantled and is handed over or sent to
the responsible sales agency in original
packing together with sales slip or invoice.
The operating system, user software and
external peripheral devices are subject to
warranty regulations of the respective manu-
facturers and are excluded from factory war-
ranty.
Incorrect operation and handling, operation in
inappropriate surroundings, changes or
modifications on device and connectors of not
authorized peripheral components exclude
any claims for warranty.
Damages through transport or visual defects
(splintered parts, bumps) must be notified to
the manufacturer immediately or at the latest
2 weeks after reception of the device.
The following components are not under
warranty:
- Cable
- CD media
- DVD media
- Software of various kinds
- SmartCard media
- External peripheral devices

Juridical information
The manufacturer has taken every effort that this
manual contains information which are complete,
accurate and up to date. As far as permitted by law
any legal liability for damages in consequence to
the use of this manual or the device are excluded.
The MSMGE104+ was developed for the use in
residential areas, in offices, in business areas or
industrial areas.
For application where vital functions are depending
on the operation of this device, the authorization of
the manufacturer has to be obtained.
Possible examples are:
-Military devices
-Safety relevant applications
-Safety relevant medical applications (e.g. life
preserving machines, Xray-devices, breath
surveillance devices)
-Avionics, astronautics

product remain subject to change without prior

3. Extent of delivery
Firstly the device has to be inspected for eventual
damages through transport. For damages or de-
fects which are not notified to the manufacturer
within 2 weeks from date of purchase any claim for
warranty will expire.
The packaging includes:
1. MSMGE104+ PC/104+ board
Completeness has to be checked through the
customer.

4. Introduction and description
The MSMGE104+ is a 10/100/1000 Base-T Giga-
byte network card
PC/104+ pheriperal board
The board is PC/104-Plus "Compliant" this refers to
the PC/104-Plus Specification, including both me-
chanical and electrical specifications. Exception the
RJ45 connector is 13mm high.

power lines.

8. Hardware installation
The following parts are required for the operation of
the MSMGE104+
•PC/104 CPU board at least
PC/104-Plus "Bus-compatible"
•Power supply
•Properly installed operating system like
MS-DOS 6.22, Windows 2000, Windows XP,
Linux
For installation it may be necessary to connect
pheripheral devices to the CPU board like
•PS/2 keyboard
•PS/2 mouse
•Analog-VGA-monitor or LCD-monitor
Set the five jumper beside the PC/104+ connector
if necessary, the factory default setting work prop-
erly if only one MSMGE104+ board is stacked
together with the MSM855. If several PC/104+
boards are stacked together each should use
different resources, see jumper table.

13. Security instructions and
warnings
Reading of the user manual as well as the following
security instructions are very important.
•The MICROSPACE-PC is a highly complex
electronical device which is constructed with
special components. The inside of the device
must only be touched through skilled special-
ists.
•In any case the power supply has to be shut off
(remove cable at the back of the device).
•To insure security of the device as well as of
the user the following instructions must be
considered before start up:
-The device must be turned off before pe-
ripheral cables are pluged in and out.
(VGA, Mouse, Keyboard, LAN, ISDN,
Sound).
Strictly forbidden:
•Bringing liquids onto or into the device. If
this happens by mistake the device must
immediately be turned off and be given to
the customer service for repair and exami-
nation.
To be avoided:
•Installation site near a heat source, e.g.
heater or direct sun light.
•Environment temperature over +70°C.
•Hypotermia of the device (below zero de-
gree C.). For big room temperature differ-
ences the device must be acclimatized
during 2 hours. This prevents formation of
condensed water.
•Cover the device with paper, textiles or
other objects.
•Inappropriate handling e.g. dropping or
damage of the device.
•Repairs as well as correcting mal-
functions must only be carried out
through skilled personnel of the
manufacturer.

11. Service
In case of malfunction the customer is supposed to
take the following safety measures:
•Save all data on the hard disk (back up)
Accurate description of the problem or the malfunc-
tion:
•WHICH malfunction occures?
•WHICH operating system is being used?
•WHICH application programs are installed?
•ALL peripheral devices have to be mentioned.
•Submit sales slip with purchase date.
•Provide name of distributor and place of pur-
chase as well as description of device and se-
rial number.
Important:
•The device has to be sent in original wrapping
together with all the above information to the
nearest service point.
