This unit complies with safety standard EN60950-1 as appropriate. The unit shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing and no objects filled with
liquids, such as coffee cups, shall be placed on the equipment. To ensure safe operation and to guard against potential shock hazard or risk of fire, the
following must be observed:
o Ensure that your mains supply is in the correct range for the input power requirement of the unit.
oEnsurefuses fitted are the correct rating and type as marked on the unit.
oTheunitmust be earthed by connecting to a correctly wired and earthed power outlet.
oThepower cord supplied with this unit must be wired as follows:

ContentproducersandbroadcasterscanreduceloudnesscomplaintsbyusingtheDP600
toprovideviewerswithaconsistentaudioexperienceacrossprograms,channels,and
networks.ExpandingupontheuniqueDialogueIntelligence™technologydevelopedfor
theDolbyLM100BroadcastLoudnessMeter,theDP600normalizestheloudnessofaudio
programswhilepreservingtheiroriginaldynamicrange.1TheDP600analyzesthe
loudnessoffile‐basedaudiobitstreamscodedinDolbyDigital,DolbyDigitalPlus,Dolby
Pulse,andDolbyE,andvalidatesandcorrectsthedialnormparameterwithouttheneed
fordecodingandreencodingtheoriginalaudiobitstream.TheDP600alsoprovides
intelligentspeech‐basedloudnessnormalizationforbothPCMaudioandMPEG‐1LII
audio.
TheDP600‐Cprovidesfaster‐than‐real‐timefile‐basedencoding,decoding,andconversion
betweenallofDolby’saudioformats(DolbyDigital,DolbyDigitalPlus,DolbyPulse,and
DolbyE),andPCM,MPEG‐1LII,AAC,HEAAC,andHEAACv.2,whilepreservingthe
audiometadata.Inaddition,itoffersaunique,high‐quality,single‐stepDolbyDigitalto

intelligentprocessingnode.Inthisenvironment,theDP600adaptstoyourday‐to‐day
operationsandworkflow,whichincludes:
•Programingest,audiotranscodingandconversion,andqualitycontrol(QC):Newly
ingestedcontentcanberoutedthroughtheDP600forloudnessanalysisand
correction,encoding,decoding,andconversionprocessesbeforebeingmovedtoyour
mediastoragelibraryorplay‐outserver.
• Postproduction:File‐basedDolbyE,DolbyDigital,DolbyDigitalPlus,andDolby
Pulsebitstreamscanbeencodedanddecodedtoandfrommultichannel.wavor
Broadcast.wavFormat(BWF)fileswithmetadata(includedintheDolbyaudio
metadatachunk).File‐basedmediaandaudioassetscanbeanalyzed,logged,and(if

thepublic.Thiscontentcanbesuppliedtotheserverseitherdirectly,viaaningest
departmentatthebroadcasteroraffiliate,orviasatellitefromoneormorecontent
aggregators.TheDP600canbeinstalledatthecontentaggregator,normalizing
contentbeforeitissent(ʺpitchedʺ)overthesatellitelink.Alternatively,itcanbe
installedatthehead‐end,takingcontentthathaseitherbeeningesteddirectlyor
caughtfromoneormorepitchersandnormalizingitbeforeitispassedtothe
customer‐facingserver.
1.2 Work-Flow Flexibility and Ease of Use
TheDolbyDP600platformsupportsseveraltypesofapplications,includingarchiving,
automatedQC,contentconversion,andmediaassetmanagement;itoffersconsiderable
potentialforintegrationwiththird‐partysystemsthroughanopenapplication
programminginterface(API).
Tomeetspecificuserrequirements,youcancontroltheDP600anditsprocessingengines
inthreeways.
•Manualcontrol:Userscansetupandinitiateworkordersonanindividualorbatch
basisfromasimple‐to‐useinterface.
•Third‐partycontrolviaWebservices:Toenablesystemintegrationatanylevel,the
DP600’sprocessingenginesarealsoavailableasasetofWebservices.Thisallows
manufacturerstointegratetheseenginesdirectlyintotheirworkflowtocreatea
seamlessuserexperiencewithoutimpactingday‐to‐dayoperations.
•Automatichotfolderingestprocess:Userscancreatehotfoldersandpredefinea
workorderprofileforeachone.TheprofilegovernstheDP600’sbehaviorwith

youcannotrestartthesystembypressing<Ctrl>+<Alt>+<Delete>torestart.Alwaysavoid
restartingbydisconnectingandreconnectingthepowercables.

1.5.4 Power Supply Indicators
ThreepowersupplyLEDsonthefrontpanelindicatewhetherthepowerison,ifoneofthe
redundantpowersupplieshasfailed,andthetemperatureoftheunit.
Power:ThisgreenLEDlightswhentheDP600haspower.
Powersupplyfailure:ThisredLEDisoffduringnormaloperation.Itlightsor
flashesredifeitheroftheredundantpowersuppliesfails.
Temperature:ThistricolorLEDglowsgreenwhenthetemperatureoftheunitis
cool,yellowifthetemperatureiswarm,andredifthetemperatureishot.Ifthis
LEDisyelloworred,theoperatingenvironmentmaybewarmerthanexpected
andinneedofmodification.Insuchacase,callyourDolbyauthorizedtechnical
representativeimmediately.
1.5.5 Internal Drive Indicators
TheDP600hasfivephysicalinternalharddrives.Drives1and2arearrangedina
RAID1configurationtoprovideprotectionfortheoperatingsystemaswellas
localstorage.Theremainingthreeharddrivesareconfiguredasseparatedrivesto
providelocalstorage.ThisconfigurationofoneRAIDpairandthreeseparate
drivesrepresentsfourlogicaldrives.
TherearefourbicolorLEDsonthefrontpanel,labeled1,2,3,and4.TheseLEDsindicate
thestatusoftheDP600’sfourlogicalinternalharddrives.ThedriveLEDsfunctionas
follows:
Off(nonilluminated):Indicatesafunctionaldrivewithnocurrentdiskaccessactivity.
Green:Indicatesnormaldriveactivity.
Red:Indicatesadrivefailure.
LED1 showsthestatusofthetwo‐driveRAID1configuration.Theoperatingsystemis
installedonthesemirroreddrivestopreventaphysicaldrivefailure,resultinginan
inoperablesystem.Ifeitherofthemirroreddrivesfails,theotherRAIDdriveenablesthe
systemtooperatenormallyuntilthefaileddriveisreplaced.

LEDs2,3,and4indicatethestatusoftheotherthreephysicaldisks.Thesedisksare
configuredasseparatedrivesanddonothaveRAIDbackupcapability.Ifanyofthese
drivesfail,thefaileddrivesmustbereplaced,andanyworkordersinprogressduringthe
failuremustberestarted.
IfoneofthedriveLEDsturnsred,refertoTable 1‐1todeterminewhichphysicaldrive
failed.Typically,theDP600automaticallyrebuildstheRAIDarraywhenoneoftheRAID
driveshasaproblemorisreplaced(withthepoweron).DuringtheRAIDrebuildprocess,
LED1blinksinredinhalf‐secondintervals.Whentherebuildprocessiscomplete,LED1
stopsblinking.
Insomeinstances(forexample,ifyoureplaceanon‐RAIDdrive),youmustinitiatethe
rebuildprocessmanually,asdescribedinSection 3.1.2.
IfyoureplacebothRAIDdrives,youalsoneedtoreinstalltheDP600software.Insucha
case,followtheinstructionsforacleaninstallationinSection 3.3.Whenyoureinstallthe
software,thesystemautomaticallysynchronizesthetwoRAIDdrives,re‐creatingthe
originalmirroredRAIDarray(manualrebuildnotrequired).
