The ‘MULTI-LOCK QUICK Coupler’ i
characteri ed in the manner in which
both front and rear pin of the attachment
i are independently hydraulically re-
lea ed by the coupler and both front and
rear pin are independently locked
through the full working cycle.

ated from the comfort and afety of the
machine cab.

Thi ‘MULTI-LOCK Quick Coupler’
product, when u ed correctly and with
proper OEM (Original Equipment Manu-
facturer) excavator bucket and attach-
ment will provide a afe and reliable
mean of quick attachment and change-
over of variou implement , thu allow-

tivity from the machine.
The Coupler can operate with a range of
bucket and a wide range of attach-
ment within the ame pin ize range,
ome of which are illu trated blow in fig-
ure 1.

Please Read Carefully.
1. A a new owner / operator of a Dro-
mone ‘MULTI-LOCK Quick Coupler’ it i
very important that you take time to ac-
quaint your elf with the main feature of
the hitch and the requirement for it
afe operation and maintenance.
Therefore, we recommend that you
tudy the content of thi booklet very
carefully and be fully familiar with it
content before commencing work.
Alway treat coupler with the re pect
they de erve.
2. Great care mu t be taken when work-
ing on or with the ‘MULTI-LOCK Quick
Coupler’. Never attempt to work on, or
carry out maintenance to thi product
without fir t en uring that it ha been
made afe, and that the machine to
which it i attached i witched off.
3. In the ca e of a hydraulically operated
hitch. Even with the machine witched
off the hydraulic circuit may remain
pre uri ed o care mu t be taken when
connecting / di connecting hydraulic
ho e .
4. While the ‘MULTI-LOCK Quick Cou-
pler’ i de igned and proven to work with
mo t available bucket and other attach-
ment . Dromone do not approve the u e
of mechanical pulveri e , mechanical
hear , mechanical tump grinder and
uch tool with thi coupler. Limited u e
of breaker with the coupler i permitted.
Warranty will be void if uch attachment
are u ed with thi coupler.
5. Regardle of the bucket or attach-
ment being u ed with the ‘MULTI-LOCK
Quick Coupler’ they mu t be u ed in
trict accordance with their individual
manufacturer guide line and in truc-
tion .
6. In order to en ure that you get the
mo t from your ‘MULTI-LOCK Quick Cou-
pler’ product we have et out in thi
booklet ome recommended ervice and
maintenance check . The e hould be
carried out on a regular ba i and any
damaged part hould be replaced imme-
diately.
7. Never attempt to modify either the
Dromone Multi Lock Quick Coupler or the
machinery onto which it i intended to be
attached without fir t receiving approval
from Dromone Engineering per onnel.
Unauthori ed modification of the Quick
Coupler or the ho t machine can eri-
ou ly impair the performance of the
equipment and could cau e eriou injury
to per onnel.
8. It i the re pon ibility of all per on
involved in the in tallation, maintenance
and operation of the Dromone Quick
Coupler to en ure their own per onal
afety by wearing uitable protective
clothing, afety footwear, Hi-vi ibility
ve t and ear & eye protection where ap-
propriate.
9. If you hould have any difficulty with
your Dromone Multi Lock Quick Coupler
which i not addre ed in thi manual,
then you hould contact Dromone Engi-
neering Ltd. Immediately at the number
provided on the back of thi manual.
10. Although every effort ha been made
to optimi e the trength and durability of
the Dromone Multi Lock Quick Coupler, it
hould be noted that the typical environ-

working can be extremely har h and det-
rimental to all type of machinery. For thi
rea on, Dromone Engineering highly
recommend that; a well a the regular
maintenance check , certain component
be replaced a a matter of cour e after
reaching a pre- pecified no. of working
hour .
Intermittent problem can be ymptom
of imminent failure and if the e are ex-
perienced with key control component
uch a the control box or olenoid valve,
the e component hould be replaced im-
mediately.
Detail of pecific component and their
expected normal working life can be
found in the Maintenance ection of thi
manual. Plea e take the time to become
acquainted with the e component and to
monitor their working age.
Only genuine Dromone parts must
be used to service this Quick Cou-
pler.

It i important to note that if you or
your repre entative i re pon ible for the
initial in tallation of the Dromone Quick
coupler, e pecially in regard to the hy-
draulic / electrical y tem; you mu t take
the full re pon ibility to make ure the
in tallation i carried out in trict accor-
dance with Dromone Engineering’ in-
truction . Any failure to do o may allow
the un afe operation of the coupler and
re ult in eriou injury or death, with the
in taller being found to be liable.
12. Other than the tructural integrity of
the Dromone Multi Lock Quick Coupler,
the mo t important component( ) in thi
coupler are the two hydraulic cylinder
and the front and rear pin locking mecha-
ni m .
It i imperative that to en ure the contin-
ued afe and effective u e of thi coupler,
a daily check be carried out to monitor
wear, blockage and other damage that
can po ibly occur to the detriment of the
y tem’ afe operation.
While every effort ha been made by Dro-
mone Engineering Ltd. To provide a afe,
durable and effective product to work in a
typically har h environment, it mu t be
tre ed that it i the re pon ibility of the
owner / u er to keep the y tem erviced
and in good working order. The machine
operator and / or owner could be held to
be negligent if they either fail to keep the
y tem in good order.
13. It i e ential to en ure continued
afe operation of the Dromone Multi Lock
Quick Coupler, that along with regular
maintenance check and ervice carried
out on the coupler; clo e attention be
paid to the pre ence and condition
(legibility) of all the decal in the ma-
chine’ cab.
If one or more of the e decal become
damaged or lo t, it i e ential that they
be replaced immediately. Dromone Engi-
neering ha upplied an extra et of de-
cal with thi manual for thi eventuality.
If you have not received the e decal you
hould contact your dealer immediately. If
you have further need for decal , you can

14. Lifting eye can only be u ed with the
machine if there i a ho e bur t check
valve on the boom. It i the re pon ibility
of the fitter to di able the lifting eye, if
the afety check valve are not incorpo-
rated
If the coupler i fitted with a lift eye,
plea e in pect daily before u e for wear,
crack and fatigue. If damaged do not
u e.
Alway u e approved lifting hackle and
chain in conjunction with the lift eye.
Check the SWL (Safe Working Load) that
i tamped on the coupler and en ure
the lifting equipment i compatible.
Alway check the excavator manual for
the machine SWL a thi determine the
lifting capacity of the machine. Thi SWL
hould never be exceeded under any
circum tance.
Alway remove the attachment on the
coupler prior to u ing the lift eye.
No other part of the coupler may be u ed
for lifting other than the lift eye.
The lift eye on the coupler ha been
te ted and tamped by Dromone, thi
te t i valid for 12 month from fir t date
of purcha e, there after it i the re pon i-
bility of the machine owner to in ure the
lift eye remain compliant to each coun-
trie national tandard.
15. The quick hitch hould only be fitted
to the machine referred to on the Serial
number plate or the declaration of incor-
poration. Should the model on the badge
be different on the badge, permi ion
hould be ought from Dromone engi-
neering before commencing fit-up.
18. The working range of the machine
can change with the incorporation of a
quick hitch. Thi include the following:

The bucket i more liable to inter-
fere with the dipper arm and po i-
bly the cab in which can lead to in-
jury or death (

In tallation of the ‘MULTI-LOCK Quick
Hitch’ mu t be in accordance with the
in truction provided in thi manual, any
deviation from the in truction given
here need to be authori ed by Dro-
mone Engineering per onnel.
Any difficulty with interpretation of the
in tallation in truction in thi manual
hould be re olved between the fitter
and Dromone Engineering, before pro-
ceeding any further - IF IN DOUBT
ASK.
Before attaching to a bucket or any
other attachment it i important to
check for the following. Familiari e
your elf with the coupler and machine
control prior to u e with attachment .
A. The attachment i fitted with the
correct pin at the correct centre
di tance and that they are
ecured properly in place.
B. En ure that the ‘MULTI-LOCK
Quick Coupler’ ha been left afe
after previou u e / operation.
C. En ure that the area within the
maximum machine wing radiu
i clear of all per onnel and
ob tacle .
D. If the In-Cab control y tem i not
upplied by Dromone, thi may
affect the performance and afety
of the coupler. Alway check the
equence and function matche
the equence outlined in thi
manual.
Procedure:
1. From the operator eat in the
machine cab the ‘MULTI-LOCK
Quick Hitch’ mu t be fully
crowned inward to the tran port
po ition in order to di engage the
automatic latching y tem. Fully
extend the bucket cylinder and
hold over relief.

2. Pre the ’POWER’ button on the in-
cab control panel to the, The vi ual Led
will pul ate GREEN and activate an audi-
ble buzzer (continuou tone) in the ma-
chine cab (
Figure 5
).
NOTE: If no further action i taken
within 5 econd the unit will
automatically ‘LOCK OUT’, the
indicator will go out and the green
LED light will return to a con tant
green light.
3. Activation of cylinder :
Pre the ’CONTROL’ button within 5 ec-
ond from witch on. The tatu indicator
light will illuminate to a fla hing red ig-
nal and the buzzer will al o change from
a continuou tone to a pul ating tone.
Thi indicate that a po itive upply i
being ent to the olenoid valve, which in
turn operate the both lock cylinder.
NOTE: After ’CONTROL’ button i
pre ed, the y tem will activate a
warning ignal at 55 econd , and
after 60 econd the hitch will re et
to a clo ed po ition.
4. Manoeuvre the ‘MULTI-LOCK Quick
Coupler’ to line it up with the bucket or
implement to be picked up (
Figure 7
)
5. Lower the
‘MULTI-LOCK Quick Coupler downward
and lide forward to engage the front
jaw of the ‘MULTI-LOCK Quick Hitch’
over the neare t bucket pin. Rotate the
‘MULTI-LOCK Quick Hitch’ clockwi e to
line up the econd bucket pin (furthe t
from mach.)

6. When both attachment pin are eated
in the ‘MULTI-LOCK Quick Coupler’ jaw ,
rotate the attachment fully inward u ing
the excavator bucket cylinder (
Figure 7)
.
Thi manoeuvre will en ure that the at-
tachment i fully eated in the ‘MULTI-
LOCK Quick Hitch’ jaw .
7. Pre ‘POWER’ button the indicator
light will go out and audible buzzer will
top ounding in excavator cab. The
main cylinder will extend and lock the
latching hook over the attachment pin.
8. A a final check that thi procedure
ha been carried out correctly, the fol-
lowing check hould be verified in the
following order.
1. Vi ually confirm rear latch i en-
gaged
2. Complete bump te t to en ure
that rear lock i properly ecure
3. Vi ually confirm the front lock i
engaged
With the confirmation of the e check
the coupler i now ready for u e. (

Bucket/Attachment Release
Before attempting the relea e of a
bucket or any other attachment it i im-
portant to check for the following.
A. En ure that the area within the
maximum machine wing radiu
i clear of all per onnel and
ob tacle .
B. Put attachment on level ground
to en ure that it doe not roll
over.
Procedure:
1.Lower the ‘Quick Coupler and attach-
ment to the ground with the ‘Quick Cou-
pler’ rotated fully inward toward the
machine in order to di engage the auto-
matic latching y tem.
2. Pre the ’POWER’ button on the in-
cab control panel to the, The vi ual Led
will pul ate GREEN and activate an audi-
ble buzzer (continuou tone) in the ma-
chine cab (
Figure 12
).
NOTE: If no further action i taken
within 5 econd the unit will
automatically ‘LOCK OUT’, the
indicator will go out and the green

4. Manoeuvre the ‘Quick Hitch’ rear-
ward , away from the machine and thi
will di engage the ‘Quick Hitch’ from the
bucket or other attachment (figure 14).
5. The next tage i to et the witch to
the ‘OFF’ po ition, the indicator light will
go out and the audible buzzer will top
ounding in the machine cab. The ‘Quick
Coupler’ cylinder will extend and lock the
hitch latching hook . Thi manoeuvre will
al o activate the automatic locking y -
tem.
The following check hould be carried
out on a daily ba i .
1. Check the main frame for crack or
weld failure.
2. Check that the Quick Coupler com-
ponent are not damaged or how-
ing ign of wear.
3. Check the attachment pin for
damage or undue wear.
4. Check for any ign of damage or
clogging of both automatic locking
mechani m .
5. Check for oil leak from the
hydraulic cylinder and ho e
connection .
6. Check that all nut & bolt u ed to
ecure pin are locked tight.
7. Grea e hitch daily, all pin and
bu hing hould be grea ed. Grea e
nipple are provided at cylinder
bu hing and at the latching hook
to facilitate acce for thi purpo e.
8. Clean coupler of all dirt and debri ,
en ure all label are clean and
legible at the end of each hift.
9. In pect lift eye for wear, damage or
crack .
