Safety
As the laser beam used in the DVD player
maybe harmful to the eyes, do not attempt
to disassemblethe cabinet. Refer servicing
to qualified personnel only(itisperfectly
safeif youdon’tunscrew andopenthe
cabinet).
Should any solidobjectorliquid fallinto
the player,unplug the player,and haveit
checked by qualified personnel before
operating it anyfurther.
Placement of YourDVD Player
Donot leavethe player in alocation near a
heat source, or in aplacesubject to direct
sunlight, excessive dust ormechanical
shock.
Do not placethe player on an inclined or
unstableplace.
Do not placeanything within 1inchof the
sidesorback ofthecabinet. The ventilation
holesmust not be covered for the player
to operate properlyand prolong the life of
itscomponents.
Don’tplacethis DVD player on lacquered
finished furniture without awood or glass
protector.
Iftheplayerordiscswill beleftinacar
parked in the sun, put theplayer in the trunk
orwheretheplayerwillnotbesubjected
tothedirectraysandheat of thesun.
Cleaning the Cabinet
Clean the cabinet, panel and controlswith
asoft cloth slightlymoistened with avery
milddetergent solution or aplain damp
cloth. Do not useanytype of abrasivepad,
scouring powder,orsolvent,suchas
alcohol or benzine.
Operation
If the player is brought directly from a cold
to awarm location, or isplaced in avery
damproom,moisture may condenseonthe
lens inside. Should this occur,the player
maynot operate properly.Inthiscase,
removethe discandwait about an hourfor
the moisture to evaporate. If the player has
not been used for along time, turn the set
to ON to warm it up for afew minutes before
inserting adisc.
ThisDVD player isdesigned to be played
onastable nonvibratingposition.Ifyoubump
theset during DVDplay,thepicture or music
may stoporskip forseveral seconds.This
isnormalfor this typeofplayer.

CleaningDiscs
Before playing, make sure the disc is
clean.Ifnot,cleantheDISCwithacleaning
cloth. Wipe the DISC in astraight motion
from the center out.
Do notusesolventssuchasbenzine,
thinner,commerciallyavailable cleanersor
anti-staticsprayintended for vinylLPs.
Donot touch the playback side of the disc.
Everyfingerprint cancauseplayback
problems. Do not scratchthe disk.
Donot store the Discs in aplacesubject
todirect sunlight or near heat sources.

Selecting the TVTYPE
Select the aspect ratio of the movie to matchyour TV set. There are three types of screen
sizesyou may select. (NOTE: If your DISC isnot encoded toallow you to change the aspect
ratio, the TV displaycannot be changed.)
4X3 Standard (4:3 PS) -Choose this setting ifyou want to see
moviesto fill the entire screen of your TV.This might mean that
parts of the picture (the left and right edges)won’tbe seen.
Most discs produced in aWIDESCREEN format can’tbe cropped
in this fashion.
4X3Letterbox (4:3 LB) -Choose this setting if you want to see
moviesin their original aspect ratio(width-to-height ratio). You’ll
see the entire frame of the movie, but it will take up asmaller
portion of the screen vertically.The movie will appear with black
barsat thetopand bottomofthescreen, butyouwillseeeverything
to the right &left of the center asin amovie theater.

HowtoFindyourTV’sVideoInput Channel
Make sure you havecompletedalltheconnections(see pages 4-5), you mayneed to
change your TV’svideo input mode to see the DVD player’smenu and movies. The video
input channel varieswith different brandsand models, many TV remote controlshavea
TV/VIDEO button which can be used to change to different video inputsand back to TV for
normal broadcast viewing. Onceyou selectedthe correct channel, your TV will show the
opening DVD screen. For more details, pleasesee your TV manual.
