General safety information
IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
WARNING: When using electrical appliances especially when
children are present, basic safety precautions should always be
followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury
to persons, including the following:
Read all instructions before using this sewing machine.
DANGER!
To reduce the risk of electric shock!
− An appliance should never be left unattended when plugged
in. Always unplug the sewing machine from the electric outlet
immediately after using and before cleaning.
WARNING!
To reduce the risk of burns, fire, electric shock, or injury to
persons!
− Do not allow to be used as a toy. Close attention is necessary
when the sewing machine is used by or near children.

Safety
7
− Use the sewing machine only for its intended use as described in
this manual. Use only attachments recommended by the manufac-
turer as contained in this manual. The appliance is only to be used
with the power supply unit (adaptor) provided with the appliance.
− Never operate the sewing machine if it has a damaged cord
or plug, if it is not working properly, if it has been dropped or
damaged, or dropped into water. Return the sewing machine
to the nearest authorized dealer or service center for examina-
tion, repair, electrical or mechanical adjustment.
− Never operate the sewing machine with any air openings
blocked. Keep ventilation openings of the sewing machine
and foot controller free from the accumulation of lint, dust,
and loose cloth.
− Never drop or insert any object into any opening.
− Do not use outdoors.
− Do not operate where aerosol (spray) products are being used
or where oxygen is being administered.
− To disconnect, switch off the sewing machine, then remove
plug from outlet.
− Do not unplug by pulling on cord. To unplug, grasp the plug,
not the cord.
− Keep fingers away from all moving parts. Special care is re-
quired around the sewing machine needle.
− Always use the proper needle plate. The wrong plate can
cause the needle to break.
− Do not use bent needles.
− Do not pull or push fabric while stitching. It may deflect the
needle causing it to break.
− Switch the sewing machine off (OFF) when making any adjust-
ments in the needle area, such as threading needle, changing
needle, threading bobbin, or changing presser foot, etc.
− Always unplug sewing machine from the electrical outlet when
removing covers, lubricating, or when making any other user
servicing adjustments mentioned in the instruction manual.

Safety

− “SERVICING OF DOUBLE-INSULATED PRODUCTS”
In a double-insulated product, two systems of insulation are
provided instead of grounding. No grounding means is pro-
vided on a double-insulated product, nor should a means for
grounding be added to the product. Servicing of a double-in-
sulated product requires extreme care and knowledge of the
system, and should be done only by qualified service person-
nel. Replacement parts for a double-insulated product must
be identical to those parts in the product. A double-insulated
product is marked with the words ’DOUBLE INSULATION’ or
’DOUBLE INSULATED.’
WARNING!
Risk of electric shock!
A faulty electrical installation or excessive line voltage may result in
an electric shock.
− Only connect the sewing machine if the supply voltage of the
power outlet corresponds to the specification on the rating plate.
− Only connect the sewing machine to an easily accessible pow-
er outlet so that you can quickly disconnect it from the power
supply in the event of a fault.
− Do not operate the sewing machine if it exhibits visible damage
or the power cord or DC connector/power plug is defective.
− If the power adapter’s and the foot pedal’s power cord is dam-
aged, it must be replaced with the same connector cable, which
can be obtained from the manufacturer or its after-sales support.
− Do not open the housing; instead, have a qualified profession-
al carry out the repairs. Contact a qualified workshop for this.
Liability and warranty claims are waived in the event of repairs
performed by the user, improper connection of the device or
incorrect operation.

Safety
9
− Only parts that comply with the original device information
may be used for repairs. This sewing machine contains elec-
trical and mechanical parts which are essential for providing
protection against sources of danger.
− Do not operate the sewing machine with an external timer or
separate telecontrol system.
− Do not immerse the sewing machine or the power cord, foot
pedal or DC connector/power plug in water or any other liquids.
− Never touch the DC connector/power plug with wet hands.
− Never pull the power plug out of the outlet by the power ca-
ble; instead, always do so by taking hold of the power plug.
− Never use the power cable as a carrying handle.
− Keep the sewing machine, DC connector/power plug and
power cord away from open flames and hot surfaces.
− Lay the power cord out in such a way that it does not pose a
tripping hazard.
− Do not kink the power cable and do not lay it over sharp edges.
− Only use the sewing machine in rooms located indoors. Never
use it in wet rooms or in the rain.
− Never store the sewing machine in such a way that there is a
risk of it falling into a tub or sink.
− Never retrieve an electrical device by hand if it has fallen into
water. In this case, immediately pull the DC connector/power
plug out of the power outlet.
− Make sure that children do not insert any objects into the sew-
ing machine.
− Always switch the sewing machine off and pull the power
plug out of the power outlet and remove the batteries from
the battery compartment when you are not using the sewing
machine, cleaning it or if it is faulty.
− Only use the sewing machine with the enclosed power adapter.

age, electrolyte (battery fluid) leakage, fire or explosion.
− Do not short-circuit the batteries.
− Store unpacked batteries in such a way that the battery con-
tacts do not touch in order to avoid short circuiting. It is best to
store the batteries in the original packaging.
− Keep unpacked batteries away from metal objects in order to
avoid short circuiting.
− Do not disassemble the batteries.
− Do not modify the batteries in any way.
− Do not crush or deform the batteries and do not drill into the
batteries.
− Do not throw the batteries into an open fire.
− Do not heat the batteries and do not weld or solder right be-
side the batteries.
− Do not continue using the batteries if they have been damaged.
− Do not try to recharge the batteries.
− Avoid excessive discharging of the batteries.
− Always change the entire set of batteries. Never mix old and
new batteries or batteries with different charges.
WARNING!
Danger of suffocation and danger to health!
Swallowing batteries can result in suffocation. Poisoning or internal
burns may also occur if a swallowed battery leaks.
− Do not allow children to play with the batteries.

Safety
13
− Only allow supervised children to change the batteries.
− Store the batteries in a place out of the reach of children.
− Consult a physician immediately if a battery is swallowed.
CAUTION!
Risk of injury!
Electrolyte (battery fluid) can leak from the batteries in case of mal-
function or damage and can cause burns if touched.
− Do not touch leaky batteries.
− Avoid coming into contact with leaked electrolyte.
− If you come into contact with leaked electrolyte, rinse the area
of contact immediately with clean water.
− Consult a physician immediately if leaked electrolyte comes
into contact with your eyes.
