Setup
Attaching or Removing of Lift Chair Back.
Your Eclipse Medical Inc. lift chair is packaged in a semi knock down form consisting of a back and
the seat base. Please follow setup instructions in this section.
Note: The illustrations shown may not reflect the model of lift chair that you own.
Preparing or setting up your lift chair may require two people.
Connect the Backrest of the Lift Chair to the base:
1. Remove packaging and check to ensure the locking clip is in the
vertical position on both sides. Reposition if necessary.
2. Slide the left and right rear bracket sleeves of the chair back onto the
male brackets on the arms and seat of the chair.
Note: Because of the chair width, you may have to slide on one side of the
chair back at a time. If so, level the chair back before pressing down to lock
into position.
3. Push firmly on the top of the chair back to lock into position. Listen for a click on each side
to ensure chair back is locked in properly.
Note: Pull up on the chair back to ensure that it is locked in place. If the back can be pulled off,
then repeat back portion installation.
4. Attach the chair back fabric to the bottom of the chair base.
To Remove the Back Portion of the Lift Chair:
1. Remove the bottom of the back fabric from the hook and loop flaps on the chair base.
2. Using a large flathead screwdriver, lift the left and right clips of the chair back to raise the
back from the bracket on the chair base. As you lift the clip, pull up on the back to lift that
side over the lock.
Note: You will have to do this step one side at a time due to the width of your chair.
3. Lift the chair back up from the base of the chair.

7
Lift Chair Power Connection Setup
Warning! If you are having a problem with the setup of your chair, STOP and contact your local
Eclipse Medical Inc. retailer immediately.
Note: Do not plug adapter into the wall power outlet until all connections are made.
1. Place your lift chair near a properly wired standard wall outlet. This chair is designed for
indoor use only.
2. While chair is in the seated position, place the back of the lift chair 30 inches (75 cm) from
the nearest obstruction.
3. Adjust the leg levelers to keep the chair stable. (varies by model)
4. Turn the leg levelers clockwise to raise the chair and counter-clockwise to lower the chair.
5. Locate the power adapter and connect 2 x 9V batteries (not included) to the battery backup
compartment at the back of the adapter. Warning! To reduce the risk of electric shock
disconnect the power cord before installing or replacing batteries.
6. Lay the low voltage connection cable (located at the back of the chair) where it will not be
pinched between the wood frame and the lift mechanism. If the low voltage connection
cable is not already connected to the external transformer, connect it at this time.
7. Connect the hand control cable to the lift chair, if the cable is not already connected.
8. Ensure the external transformer, power cord, and the low voltage connection cable are not
damaged or wet.
9. Plug the electrical cord directly into the outlet. Do not use an extension cord!
10.Lay the external transformer on the floor in an open, well-ventilated area where it will not be
an obstruction.
Note: When sitting down in your chair, never “drop” into chair if it is partially raised.
Note: The external transformer is packaged independently of your lift chair. Please do not discard
any packaging before locating the external transformer.

Features
Standard Feature
Your Eclipse Medical Inc. Lift Chair is equipped with certain standard features designed to ensure
operator comfort and safety.
Thermal Cut-out
Your lift chair is equipped with an internal thermal shutoff switch located inside the external
transformer that prevents the motor control box from overheating. If the motor stops during lifting
cycle, allow the lift chair to remain in this stationary position for 10 minutes. This will allow the
motor control box to cool down and reset itself. After cooling down, normal use of your lift chair
can resume. If you notice frequent overheating, contact your authorized Eclipse Medical Inc.
Retailer.
Battery Backup
During a power failure, your lift chair’s battery backup system will automatically activate. This
system is designed to take you from the recline position to the sit position only. Your battery
backup system is powered by two 9V alkaline batteries (not included).
Note: Always make sure your lift chair’s battery backup system is equipped with two fresh 9V
alkaline batteries, since the system does not recharge itself. Fresh batteries are defined as 9V
alkaline batteries that are replaced every time the battery backup system is activated during a
power failure, or once a year if the battery backup system has not been activated.
Note: If you unplug your lift chair for an extended period of time (more than one hour), remove the
batteries. The lift chair will draw power from the batteries even when it is not in use.
