CAR DOORS WITHOUT EXISTING HOLES
Car doors without existing holes are alot more challenging than car doors with holes.
Ifyou have avehicle with no provisions for speakers, Eclipse strongly suggests that
you have your local Authorized Eclipse Dealer install them. But, ifyou must install
them yourself, please read on.
1.
Look for asuitable location on the door to mount the speakers. Usually the front
lower portion
of
the door
is
your only option. Be careful that the location you choose
doesn't interfere with opening and closing the door.

Carefully remove the door panel, so as not to damage any
of
the clips on the
panel.
3.
More often than not, you will need to cut ahole
in
the metal portion
of
the door.
Before cutting, make sure that no wiring harnesses are behind the area that you will
be cutting, and also check to see ifanything is mounted to the section
of
metal you
will be removing.

It is also agood idea to check the clearance behind the metal, and make sure the
window track will clear the magnet on the speaker when fully installed.

If everything checks out ok, place the template (provided) on the door panel that
you removed. Trace the circle onto the door.

Carefully, cut your hole.

Next, mount the door panel back onto the door, being careful not to break any
of
the clips that hold it onto the. door.
8.
Trace the hole that you just cut
in
the door panel onto the metal door, and then
remove the door panel again.
9.
Cut the hole
in
the metal door (Don't forget your safety glasses) Be sure to paint
the exposed metal with arust resistant paint.
10. Now it's time to run the wire through the factory grommet
in
the door jam Be
sure to leave the ends with the terminals on the door side.
11.
Reinstall the door panel.
12. Connect the speaker wire to the speakers. (That's the easy part)
13. Now mount the speaker to the door
You
should drill asmall pilot hole for each
screw.
14. Finally, make the electrical connections, and start on the other door If any part
of
this sounds like something you are alittle uncomfortable doing, you should have
the speakers installed by your local Authorized Eclipse Dealer.
