3Installing
YourAlumni-Press-2 should be far from curtains and inflammable material.Afurnace is a
heat generator which needs to be dissipated; otherwise its components will be
overheated. Therefore, place the equipment at a ventilated area which allows free air
circulation. It is advisable to leave a 15cm clearance between the furnace and anything
thatcanimpairtheventilation.Placethefurnacefarfromtapsorbasinswhichcansprinkle
waterovertheequipment.

3-1) Check if your network voltage is the same as the one shown on the furnace
labelPic1–item(1).
3-2) Install the furnace into an exclusive electrical network using 6mm wiring to a
110voltsnetwork,or4mmwiringtoa220voltsnetwork.
3-3) Never connect the furnace to the same network in which other furnaces,
compressors, electrical taps or any other high electricity consumption devices are
alreadyconnected.
3-4)Checkiftheoutletinwhichthefurnacewill bepluggedin isinperfectcondition
andofgoodqualitytobearatleast20amperes.
3-5) Connect the grounding end (round pin) to a grounding rod and never to the
electricalnetworkneutral.
NOTE: Not checking the procedures above will interfere on the equipment correct
working,onitsguaranteeandalsoontheoperatorsafety.
3-6)Ifyourelectricalnetworkisveryinstable(thelightsflashalot),itisadvisableto
use a voltage regulator such as a saturated autotransformer with at least 2kw
capacity.Neveruse,byanymeans,regulatorsusedincomputers.
3-7)ConnectthevacuumhosetothefurnacePic-1item(5)Plugthevacuumpump
powercabletotheoutletwhichisatthebacksideofthefurnacePic-1item(6)
3-8) Connect the compressed air hose to the furnace. Pic-1 item (10). The air
should be supplied dried by the compressor at minimum pressure of 2 kg/cm²
(30lbf/pol²).Thispressureshouldbekeptwhilethefurnaceisworkingwithpressed
ceramic. The lack of pressure during this process will cause the process
interruptionandamessagewillbeshownonthecontroldisplay.
3-9) Connect the argon hose to the furnace and to the cylinder outflow regulator
Pic-1item (7).Theargonusedis thecommercialone.The cylinderandthe outflow
regulatorarenotsuppliedwiththeequipment,werecommendyoutocontactagas
supplier in your city. The maximum argon outflow should be adjusted at 10 L/m
(litersperminute).Note.:Weremindyouthatwhenusingargon,bothtranslucence
and opacity are enhanced, but its use can be dispensed. To do so, just disconnect
the correspondent hose and do not program its function. Check the hoses
connectionsiftheyareverytighttoavoidundesirableleaks.

4-1) The control panel has a liquid crystal display with 4 lines by 20 columns on a blue
background with yellow printing. It also has inner BACKLIGHT illumination, which allows
easyidentificationoftheprogrammedfunctionsandregistermonitoring.

5-1) Plug the furnace into an exclusive and of good quality socket which should be
correctlygroundedtoacopperrodandnevertotheelectricalnetworkneutral.Checkifthe
network voltage is the same as the one in the equipment, which is shown on the power
cablelabelorprintedatthefurnacebackside. Pic-1item(01).
5-2)Turnthemain switch on Pic-1 item (3) andwaitforthe equipment to start-up.Thefirst
screentobeshownhasthedatafortheprogramsversions.Ex-1.
5System start up - step by step
5-3)The following screen showsthe initializations and check-up forthe entire system and
ascrollwillkeeprunningacrossthescreenwhileyouperformtheinitialconfigurations.

5-4)After the checking-up is done, the system loads the ceramic standard no. 01 recipe
andwillkeepwaitingforthenextinstructionbytheoperator.Weremindyouthisrecipewill
bethebasefornewrecipesandtheprogramdoesnotallowittobeerased. Ex-30
5-5) The furnace must not start the heating process without the heating spool put on the
tray, otherwise the sealing ring and the tray will be seriously damaged. Use adequate

6Programming conventional ceramic recipes
6-1)Forbetterexplanation,wewillfollowpracticalexamplesforconventionalandpressed
ceramicrecipes.
EX-1 RECIPEEXAMPLE-CONVENTIONALCERAMIC
6-2) Start the programming reading the Standard recipe that comes from the factory (01),
itwillserveasreferencetoprogramthefurtherrecipes.
6-3) Activate the LER key, choose the recipe 01 typing number 1 in the REC field, or
scroll through the options list using the left or right arrows. The recipe name will be shown
on the message field (PADRÃO CERAM) EX-5, at this point you should confirm your
option activating the LER key again to complete the operation. The recipe will be
automatically sent to the base and, when there is no recipes saved the message
(RECEITAVAZIA)willbeshown.

6-4) After the standard ceramic recipe is read, the system returns to the monitoring
screenautomatically.EX-11
6-5)Tostart programming a new recipe,activatethePROGRAMAkeyandthedisplaywill
show the message TELA1, the cursor will be flashing over the field that refers to the
temperature T1=600. At this stage, we have two options. We can simply type the new
values on the fields which have been already filled or clean up all the values by using the
LIMPARECkeyfortypingintheemptyfields.EX-12.
Note: For CONVENTIONAL CERAMIC recipe EX-1, we will use the empty fields
activatingtheLIMPARECfunction.
6-6) On TELA-1, with the fields empty, the cursor will be flashing over the field T1=0000.
Type the new value T1=0600 following the conventional ceramic model EX-6 step-by-
step.
Activate the PROGRAMA key again and a new screen TELA-2 will be shown, and the
cursor will be flashing over the field T2=000. Type the new value T2=960 and confirm
usingtheOKkey.Next,thecursorwillflashoverthevelocityfieldVEL2=000,typethenew
valueVEL2=55andconfirmusingtheOKkey.

Now type the new value for baseline time PAT2=01:00 and vacuum time VAC2=01:00
thesetimesareprogrammedinfiveminutes.ConfirmtheoperationusingtheOKkey
EX-7.
Activate the PROGRAMA key again and a new screen TELA-3 will be shown, and the
cursor will be flashing over the field T3=000. Type the new value T3=980 and confirm
usingtheOKkey.Next,thecursorwillflashoverthevelocityfieldVEL3=000,typethenew
value VEL3=020 and confirm using the OK key. Now type the new value for baseline time
PAT3=01:00 and vacuum time VAC3=00:00 these times are programmed in five minutes.
ConfirmtheoperationusingtheOKkeyEX-8.
6-9) ActivatethePROGRAMAkeyagainandanewscreenTELA-4willbeshown,andthe
cursor will be flashing over the pre burn field PRÉQ=00:00, type the new value
PRÉQ=05:00and confirmtheoperationusingtheOKkey.Next,the cursorwillbeflashing
over the pressing field PREN=00:00, keep the value at ZERO and confirm the operation
using the OK key. Now the cursor will flash over the argon field ARGON, to confirm this
option activate the left arrow and the correspondent field will be filled, confirm the
operationusing the OK key,ARGON=SIMATIVADO,repeatthe previous step toprogram
the quick cooling field RESFR=NÃO and also for the auto start fieldAUTOS=NÃO. When
these fields are filled, the selected function will be activated and the parameters will be
partpftherecipe.EX-9.

6-10) ActivatethePROGRAMAkey again, andanewkeyTELA-5willbeshownin which
the cursor will be flashing over the “D” field for the SOBE function. Take the cursor to the
position (5) using the left and right keys and confirm the operation using the OK key. The
confirmation of this option will be shown in parentheses on the SOBE field. Repeat the
previoussteptoprogram theelevatorfunctionDESCE,movethecursortotheposition(3)
andeconfirmtheoperationusingtheOKkey. EX-10.
6-11) Activate the PROGRAMA key again, the system will return to TELA-1 showing the
programming beginning. At this point the recipe is ready to be saved GRAVADA in the
memory, check the step-by-step for saving recipes PG-18-item-9. To send the recipe to
thebasejustactivatetheMONITORAÇÃOscreen.

7-8) ActivatethePROGRAMAkeyagainandanewscreenTELA-4willbeshown,andthe
cursor will be flashing over the pre burn field PRÉQ=00:00, keep the values at ZERO and
confirm it using the OK key. Next, the cursor will be flashing over the pressing field
PREN=00:00, type the new value PREN=09:00 and confirm the operation using the OK
key. Now the cursor will flash over the argon field ARGON, keep it deactivated
ARGON=NÃO and confirm the operation using the OK key. To program the quick cooling
field, activate the left arrow to fill the field RESF=SIM, confirm the operation using the OK
key. The cursor will flash over the autostart field, keep it deactivated and confirm the
operation using the OK key AUTOS=NÃO. When these fields are filled, the selected
functionwillbeactivatedandtheparameterswillbepartpftherecipe.EX-16
7-9) Activate the PROGRAMAkey again, and a new key TELA-5 will be shown in which
the cursor will be flashing over the “D” field for the SOBE function. Take the cursor to the
position (5) using the left and right keys and confirm the operation using the OK key. The
confirmation of this option will be shown in parentheses on the SOBE field. Repeat the
previoussteptoprogramtheelevatorfunctionDESCE,movethecursortotheposition(D)

7-10)Activate the PROGRAMA key again, the system will return to TELA-1 showing the
programming beginning. At this point the recipe is ready to be saved GRAVADA in the

on the REC field, or scroll through the options list using the left or right arrows. The recipe
name will be shown on the message field [ . OPACO.]. If you wish to overwrite the pré
savedrecipe, confirm the operationactivating theGRAVAkey, inthis casea message will
beshown[SUBST. RECEITA?(S/N)]ifyouwant to choose yes SIM type the letter [S] the
operation will be concluded and the recipe will be sent to the furnace base. If you want to
choose no NÃO type the letter [N] the cursor will return to the REC=002 field so that the
recipenumbercan be altered.To change therecipename,activatetheOKkey,thecursor
will move to the field referring to the recipe, type a new name, EX. ( . . . OPACO. . . )

9-3) After the ceramic recipe is saved, the system returns to the monitoring screen

10 System monitoring
10-1) Burn processes monitoring. This screen allows the visualization of all variables for
the burn during the process. Each burn stage will be shown on the message field of the
display,makingiteasiertheoperationmonitoring.

10-2) The variables like T1, T2, T3, Vel1, Vel2, Vel3,
Pat1, Pat2, Pat3, Vac2, Vac3, Pre-burn, Pressing,

NOTE: The saved recipes names will be shown on the
first burn, ambient temperature burn until it reaches the
baselineT1.

10-3). System flaw monitoring. The equipment has several sefety devices which allow
goodperformances,ifthereisanykindofdefecttheburnwillbeautomaticallyabortedand
an Errorr message will be on the display until the operator fixes the problem and releases
the operation using the OK key. Following we will give you some commom Errorrs
examples

11) QUICK FUNCTIONS. These functions allow the programming or monitoring of the
desiredvariablesusingtheshortcutfromthePROGRAMAkey.
12)AUXILIARYFUNCTIONS
12-1) AUXILIARY FUNCTIONS:- They are complementary resources which can help
during the burn processes improving the product final quality. It facilitates the control
systemoperationprotectingthe equipment and it also minimizes the energy consumption
speeding the process final time up. They are:- ARGON SISTEM, RESFRIAMENTO
RÁPIDO,AUTO-START,PRÉ-QUEIMA,NIGHT,EX-55.

12-2)ARGONSISTEM:-Thisfunctionperformstheautomaticwashingofthepieceatthe
beginning of the burn process. Use only inert and not oxidizing argon gas, it will help
contrastingthecolors,enhancingthetranslucenceandopacity.EX-55.
12-3) QUICK COOLING:- This function is used to optimize the time spent between the
burnprocesses,forcingtheheatexchangesothatthetemperaturecanreturnasquickas
possibletoT1andallowingthebeginningofanewburnprocessEX-55.
12-4) NIGHT:- This functions is automatically activated every time the equipment is idle
fortwo hours time, oritcanbeactivatedmanuallyusingthe NIGHTkey, which willputthe
furnace under total resting. When that happens the elevator is retracted closing the
muffle, then the temperature decreases fromT1 to 100 º C. This option can be activated
onlywithbaselineT1andtheelevatoronthebaseforceramicburn.Themainobjectiveof
this function is to save energy, avoiding the waste and keeping the muffle heated at a
minimum temperature of 100ºC, avoiding moisture. NOTE: - To deactivate this function,
activatetheNIGHTkeyonceagain.
12-5) AUTO START:- This option allows the automatic burn start when the temperature
reaches the T1 baseline with the elevator on the base, at this moment the burn will be
performed. To do so, it is necessary that the piece is already placed on the burn tray. A
visualandsoundalarmwillstartcommunicating the process beginning. NOTE:Theburn
willbeperformedonce.
This option can be activated both from the T1 ascent ramp from 25º C to 600 º C and
descentfrom 960ºC to 600ºCatcooling, directlyfromtheAUTO-STARTkey,oreven be
programmed using the PROGRAMA key - (tela 4), in which it will become part of the
recipe.EX-55
