You have decided in favor of an µ item.
Congratulations on your choice! All µ
items are produced of select materials and
subjected to severe quality checks.
All µ items are fabricated in such a way as
to allow easy do-it-yourself assembly. We are,
of course, ready to do that for you. Just let us
know in advance. To make assembly of your
new µ item easy for you, we have
prepared these assembly instructions. Step by
step you will be guided through the various
assembly stages up to the finished play
equipment.Should you encounter any
unforeseen problems during assembly, please
get in touch with our service department. Our
representatives will be happy to help you.
Knock round-sheath screws with a rubber
hammer only in order not to damage the
corrosion protection.Use washers under all
nuts and tighten all nuts with "feeling". If you
tighten them too strongly, an unnecessary
high amount of wood fibers tear off
underneath the screw head. Recesses are
provided for the countersinking of the screw
nuts. For easy positioning of the nuts in the
recesses, put one or two of them into the
wrench and slip onto the screw.
The column bases bear bore holes indicating
up to what height they have to be planted
and covered with the bulk material (e.g. sand,
tree bark mulch). You should plant the column
bases in such a way as to allow the marker
holes to remain clearly visible from the outside
of your µ product.
wood is a natural product. Temperature
fluctuations may therefore cause minor cracks
and deformations which do, however, neither
affect the load carrying capacity of the wood
nor represent a reason for complaints. Being a
recognized impregnation company, µ is
authorized to carry the RAL quality mark and
is therefore subject to regular third-party
inspections. You can therefore rely on all
batches being impregnated correctly. µ
uses core-separated wood as it is less prone to
cracks than boxed heart (wood with core).
you need not refresh the wood protection
carried out by means of the µ
impregnation. Due to climatic influences / UV
radiation, the outer cell structure slowly
decomposes, constituents such as tannic acid
are extracted, the wood is being leached and
takes on a gray color. This is a purely external
effect and does not constitute any
deterioration of quality, stability or wood
protection. If you are bothered by the fading
colors, you can freshen up the wood by way of
a transparent, water-based shade equalizer
which needs not contain fungicides or
biocides. Varnished components, however,
need to be repainted after two years, then
every year.
eibe resistant playground timber (rpt) is
treated with a protective oil based surface
finish. Due to enclosed pigments and special
ingredients the natural process of weathering
is significantly delayed. This System is firmly
anchored in the surface, so no extensive
flaking will appear. Instead after years the
gloss level will decrease, the colour will fade
and a slight algae cover will appear. This is
not a quality problem, the surface finish can
be renewed with a refresh.Depending on the
place of installation, after several years might
appear: chalk powdery dust at the surface,
fissures or damage by hail yet without
discolouring of the wood. In this stage a
refresh should be carried out, to prevent the
wood from permanent damages. Sanding the
surface in preparation for the refresh is not
necessary. It is sufficient to apply the oil on
the well-cleaned and dry surface. It is
important that the refresh is carried out before
the following damages appear: clearly visible
fissures, discolouring of the wood, infection
with wood destructive fungi or insects.
The first two numbers indicate the minimum
space required for your µ equipment,
including the impact area (formerly safety
area). Our floor type recommendations apply
to this area.Independently of our
recommendations, you have to allow for an
obstacle-free area of at least 1.50 m all around
the device. This area must be absolutely free of
hard or sharp-edged or protruding parts a
child could fall onto. This area is not subject to
any regulations regarding impact-attenuating
flooring.
•Impregnated waste wood: thermal disposal
•Metals, noble metal, GRP, plastics: textile
disposal
all µ products are marked with a label or
sticker. Label or sticker inform on delivery date
(1), the feedback number (2)‚(in few cases the
product article number), and the valid
standard (3). Please indicate both delivery
date and feedback number in all complaints
and repeat orders.
Please remember that exposure to strong solar
radiation and thus heating up of the product
should by all means be avoided. This is true
especially for slide bars and slides. Position the
equipment in natural shadows e.g. of trees or
facing certain directions. We do advise you not
to position the slides towards south-east, south
or south-west as the slide surfaces are likely to
heat up very strongly. If you use large-area
and flexible components such as sun sails or
similar shadow-creating elements on your
playground, make sure to secure them against
the effects of wind. Please remove them in case
of strong winds or storms.
The area within the safety zone must be even.
Please adhere to the indications in our tender
documents and the foundation plan.
Please make sure that all assembly equipment
has been removed before you open the
equipment to the children.
If the mounting site provides conditions that
are out of the ordinary, e.g. peaty soil or
frozen ground, such conditions absolutely
have to be taken into account.
All changes on parts of the equipment or on
its construction which may affect the basic
safety of the device are subject to prior
manufacturer approval.
Have fun with your play equipment!

The occupational health and safety
regulations at the site of installation must
be observed.
Use a two-way drill with enough pull for
assembly. A battery-driven screwdriver is
not suitable!
With a ø6-mm drill, pre-drill holes about 50
mm deep in all wooden components for
screws with dimensions 10x120 (S011770)
(and screws with dimensions 10x100
(S011750)) in order to prevent the wood from
ripping.

General Maintenance Information:
Visual Routine Inspection:
Operational Inspection:
Major Annual Inspection:
All children's playground equipment requires
regular inspections and maintenance works.
This applies in particular to all those units
which are mounted outdoors (throughout the
whole year) and which incorporate moving
parts or parts that are subject to wear and
tear.
The long life or our µ products can be
guaranteed only if you provide regular
maintenance and service. This is the best and
only way to permanently maintain the play
value for your children and the safety of your
µ products. You should make sure that
experts carry out all maintenance and service
works. Inexpert inspections or repairs may
endanger the safety of your children!
The maintenance of your µ products
according to these instructions is prerequisite
to the µ warranty.
Basis to these maintenance recommendations
are our many years of experience. If your local
conditions and directives, your particular
playground equipment or your own expertise
and experience require different inspections
and maintenance performances, please
adhere to the definitions given in the EN-
standard 1176-7.
7 Inspection schedule
7.1 To avoid accidents, the owner has to make
sure that an adequate inspection schedule is
developed and adhered to for each
playground. In such schedule, all local
conditions and manufacturer's indications
that may have an influence on the necessary
maintenance frequency, have to be taken into
consideration.The inspection schedule should
list all parts, which have to be checked during
the different inspections, and the inspection
procedures according to 6.2. [µ describes
the execution of the inspection according to
the procedures explained in 6.2 on the
following pages].
7.2 If severe and safety-endangering defects
are discovered during an inspection, they
should be eliminated immediately. If they
cannot be repaired or replaced at once, the
respective equipment has to be excluded from
use, e.g. by dismantling or closing it down.If
an equipment component has to be removed,
e.g. for maintenance works, all anchoring or
foundations that remain in the ground have
to be removed also or be made inaccessible by
means of covers. The construction site should
then be secured.
The EN 1176-7 requires a visual routine
inspection for playgrounds. In the case of
heavily frequented playgrounds or those
endangered by vandalism, daily checking may
be necessary. Sites in the vicinity of coasts, air
pollution and the age of the facilities may also
render daily checking necessary. In the
operative inspection, eibe specifies how often
which areas must be inspected on this piece of
equipment in order to maintain safety
standards for normal usage. After 12 months
at the latest (preferably following the winter
months) a “main annual inspection“will be
required.
At the very end of these maintenance
instructions you are offered a maintenance
report sheet for the entry of your equipment
maintenance results.
•Check your µ product for visible
damages and loose parts
•Does the ground show hard or pointed
objects (e.g. splinters of glass) and/or are the
play, fall, swing or slide areas dirty?
•Are there any exposed foundations?
•Do you identify sharp edges, broken or
missing parts?
•Are components overly worn and torn?
Please pay particular attention to moving
parts such as chains, swing joints.
•Pay particular attention to the absence of
pointed objects within the area of impact
(make sure that there are no glass splinters or
similar!). The flooring of the impact zone (e.g.
sand, pebbles, bark mulch, fall protection
tiles) must be absolutely intact and have the
correct height. Please observe the markings on
the poles and column bases.
We strongly recommend the daily inspection of
heavily used or high-vandal-risk playgrounds.
Daily inspections may also become necessary
in case of playgrounds that are close to the
coast or located in highly air-polluted areas,
or which have already been in service for a
certain period of time.
The following pages of this documentation
may comprise other information that must be
considered during the operational inspections,
for example in the step-by-step installation
instructions and the sheets on details.
All damages and defects have to be eliminated
immediately in order to guarantee the safety
and functional reliability of your µ
products.
Access to the playground equipment has to be
denied in the following cases:
•The equipment has not been fully or safely
installed
•The shock-absorbing surface has not been
fully installed
•The safety of operation cannot be
guaranteed by maintenance works
In addition to those of the "Visual Routine
Inspection”, the following checks are required:
•Are all wooden components okay? (e.g. fast
and safe connection of the ladder rungs, no
splinters or other damages)
•Are all metal parts well connected and not
worn down? ( please pay particular attention
to swing joints and chain connections and
make sure they are not worn through)
The wall thickness/corrosion on the inside of
pipes can be verified with the following test
procedure:
Electromagnetic test procedures such as eddy
current or magnetic leakage flux
measurement
ultrasound
•Are all screwed connections and bolted joints
well fit? If not, please tighten them. Moving
parts may require greasing or oiling.
•Are all ropes and rope ladders okay? Frayed
steel ropes must be replaced immediately.
•Are the slide surfaces okay? Use our repair
kits Laminat (article number 5 63 036 0) to
touch up damages on the GRP slides and
Oberfläche (article number 5 63 035 0) to
revarnish the surface afterwards. The
Oberfläche repair kit is absolutely sufficient for
the elimination of minor damages.
•Are all plastic and rubber components okay?
•Does your playground equipment have
wooden platforms of roofs? These may show
variations in their dimensions due to climatic
fluctuations despite their excellent surface
treatment (pressure process, clear varnish
etc.). As the equipment is subject to both the
influence of the weather and constant playing,
gaps and holes may form that may entrap the
children's clothing. Please check during our
operative inspections whether the platform
floors (and the slides and other components
mounted to it) and the roof timberings are in
perfect state. The above mentioned factors
may require supplementary modifications.
The following pages of this documentation
may comprise other information that must be
considered during the operational inspections,
for example in the step-by-step installation
instructions and the sheets on details.
All damages and defects have to be eliminated
immediately in order to guarantee the safety
and functional reliability of your µ
products.
You should carry out the "Major Annual
Inspection”after the winter or at least after 12
months. In addition to those of the "Monthly
Operational Inspection”, the following checks
are required:
•Are all foundations okay and the equipment
well ancored?
•If necessary, provide all wooden, metal,
glazed and varnished parts and components
with a new finish.
•Replace joints that show severe corrosions or
heavy wear and tear.
•Wooden components: All wooden
components exposed to weather conditions
have to be checked. Please pay particular
attention to the parts planted underground as
well as to all those components, which are
essential to the static stability (e.g. cross bars
on swings, bridge supports, cableway struts)
of the playground equipment.
The following pages of this documentation
may comprise other information that must be
considered during the operational inspections,
for example in the step-by-step installation
instructions and the sheets on details.
All damages and defects have to be eliminated
immediately in order to guarantee the safety
and functional reliability of your µ
products.

Mounting example
UK-V-01 - ra
Push in threaded bar by hitting and turning (speed under load 250-500 rpm) quickly and under considerable pressure
(until the marking is reached) and then turn off the percussion drill immediately.
Turning for too long with the percussion drill will empty the drill hole, and assembly will then be defective.
Anchors set without using the percussion drill (e. g. anchor bars inserted using a hammer) will not create any
connection, and the assembly will defective.
Leave sufficient time for the synthetic resin mortar to harden before placing any load on the anchor point.
