Eizo Foris FX2431 User manual

24.1"Home Entertainment Monitor
Fearlessly fast …
Enhanced Screen Sizes
EIZO’s new FX2431 features a “Portable mode” con-
nection that lets you plug in your PSP™(PlayStation®
Portable) and play games on the monitor’s generous
24-inch screen. It also comes with an AV connection
that lets you display 480i/p format and other low reso-
lution games at up to twice their original size without
distortion. You can set the monitor to automatically
re-size PC and video signals vertically and horizon-
tally, or so that you can adjust game signals manually.
Fast Gameplay with Thru Mode
To keep up with fast-paced gaming, a Thru mode
reduces the time it takes for a signal to appear on the
screen to a mere 1/60th of a second. This is equivalent to
just one frame of a progressive signal, or two frames of
an interlace signal, which means you can instantly shoot
enemies in SEGA’s Bayonetta, or steer clear of sudden
danger in driving games like Sonic All Stars Racing.
6 ms Midtone Response Time
A built-in overdrive circuit greatly improves midtone
response time (the time it takes to change between
gray levels) so that moving color images look smooth
and unblurred.
Rediscover 8-bit Games with Real Image
Retro gaming has never
been so fun thanks to
EIZO’s Real Image feature
which reduces blur and
displays 8-bit games with
remarkable clarity.
Vibrant, True-to-Life
Color
The FX2431’s wide gamut reproduces 96% of the
Adobe RGB color space for true-to-life color when
viewing digital photos taken in a camera’s Adobe
RGB mode.
ASIC for Lifelike Images
The FX2431 incorporates an ASIC
(application specific integrated cir-
cuit) originally developed by EIZO
for use in LCD TVs. This ASIC cre-
ates pristine, lifelike picture quality
by boosting contrast and reducing motion blur.
Flawless 1080/24p HD Playback
To enjoy video playback as smooth as you would see
in a cinema or gaming arcade, the FX2431’s dual
HDMI inputs support a video signal display rate of
1080/24p frames-per-second (48Hz). This support
eliminates motion artifacts known as judder in fast-
paced gaming or movie
scenes with panning or
scrolling movements.
Accurate Tones, Dynamic Contrast
With the FX2431’s accurate tonal reproduction,
nothing ever looks dull or washed out; video signals
from broadcast media and entertainment equipment
are displayed exactly as intended. Add to that EIZO’s
ContrastEnhancer, which produces dynamic contrast
of 2000:1, and you get exceptionally deep blacks in
dark movie and game scenes. This lets you see fine
details in shadows without sacrificing the picture
quality of astounding HD visuals.
Cylinder Sound Solution
Built-in 2 watt stereo speakers let you get the most
out of games, movies, and digital music by delivering
clear, well-balanced sound. The elegant and sturdy
cylindrical speaker cabinets provide an immersive
sound experience.
Clear Image with I/P Conversion
The FX2431’s I/P (Interlace/Progressive) conversion
minimizes picture artifacts that normally occur with
interlace video signals. By detecting the amount of
change between interlaced film frames and apply-
ing the right amount of I/P conversion, the FX2431
ensures your video images are displayed with excep-
tional clarity.
Picture-in-Picture
Displaying content from a PC on the main screen while
showing video input on a sub-screen, Picture-in-Pic-
ture lets you do two things at once — such as checking
email while enjoying a Blu-ray video. Personalize the
layout of your PinP by selecting and repositioning the
sub-window using the monitor’s remote control.
Remote Control,
Direct Command
The FX2431 comes with
an HDMI CEC (Consumer
Electronics Council) compli-
ant remote control for easy
command of your HDMI-
linked AV entertainment
system. The remote offers
full control of the monitor’s
OSD menu, plus one-touch
Auto EcoView
Optimized Brightness
An Auto EcoView feature
detects ambient lighting
conditions and automatically
adjusts the backlight to display
your media with optimized
brightness. Auto EcoView not
only saves electricity, but also
offers the ergonomic benefit of
preventing eyestrain.
Energy Efficiency Gauge
To assist you in operating the
monitor at optimum energy
efficiency, a gauge called
EcoView Index indicates
energy consumption in cor-
relation
with the
screen’s
bright-
ness.
access to Picture-in-
Picture, screen size,
color adjustment,
and EcoView Index.
Switch between your
frequently used PC,
video, and HDMI
sources by pressing
the remote’s input
selection buttons.

Zero Watts When Turned Off
When the power save mode and off timer are set,
this monitor consumes less than 1.3 watts. When
turned off via the main power switch, it con-
sumes no electricity at all.
PC and Video Viewing Modes
Several PC and AV viewing modes are available for
optimum viewing of text, digital photos, movies and
games. Use your FX2431 remote control to navigate
between viewing modes with just the touch of a
button.
Share Peripherals between PCs
with Auto USB
The FX2431’s Auto USB selection feature and two
upstream USB ports allow for simultaneous sharing
of one keyboard and mouse between two connected
computers. Auto USB selection reduces desktop clut-
ter since you only need one mouse and keyboard to
use your PCs, and it offers the added convenience of
not having to reconnect your peripherals every time
you switch computers.
Customer Assurance
A five-year warranty offers a long service life, and
compliance with leading industry standards such as
TCO’03 and TÜV Ergonomics ensures a better envi-
ronment for work and play. The EIZO Eco Products
2006 label indicates this product meets strict internal
requirements for design, manufacturing, packaging,
usage and power consumption.
