Before you begin...
Prior to performing any maintenance, switch offand secure the main disconnect / breaker
for the incoming power to the generator.
Maintenance should be carried out by trained personnel. Requests for training should be
directed toward eldec LLC’s service department:

Remove filter
•Switch offmain disconnect.
•Turn offthe water supply.
•Remove 4x Allen screws (1)
•Remove the cover (2) of the water supply.
•Remove and clean the filter (3).
•During assembly, check the correct
position of the seal (4) between the cover
(2) and housing.

Draining the cooling circuit
Some eldec induction heating systems include check valves in the cooling circuit that
prevent the draining of the cooling circuit against the direction of flow. To overcome this
obstacle, eldec recommends all systems be emptied in the direction of flow by blowing
compressed air into the water inlet at a pressure not to exceed 20 psi. If your system does
not include a check valve, you may blow compressed air into the system from the water
outlet side.
Wear safety goggles and appropriate clothing.
Drain the cooling circuit after long use and before cleaning or before moving – especially
shipping in cold climates.
•Turn offthe main disconnect.
•Disconnect the water supply.
•Drain the system via the drain (water outlet) of the cooling circuit.
•Blow compressed air into the water inlet at a pressure not to exceed 20 psi.
•For generators without check valves (most single output generators only) compressed air
can be blown against the flow direction. This should still be limited to 20 psi.

Clogged cooling circuits can lead to generator damage and equipment malfunctions.

SERVICE LIFE OF THE BATTERY
Battery lifetime is affected by environment temperature and self-discharge rate.
•Lifetime is approximately 5 years. After 4 to 5 years the battery should be changed.
•Bat SPS is displayed and a warning message appears when the battery power is weak.
•On the PLC (programmable logic controller) inside the generator an additional message
“BATT” appears.
•The data will be stored for approximately another month after the message first appears.

Replace battery within 20 seconds or with the unit’s control voltage turned on, otherwise
data loss will occur in the PLC memory (RAM).
•Switch offmain disconnect.
•Lift up cover on the lower edge (1) and remove cover of the housing (2).
•Remove the battery (3) from the holder.
•Disconnect the plug-in connection (4).
•Plug in new battery.
•Insert new battery into holder.
•Replace the top cover of the housing (2).

Coil Installation Tips

Mounting induction heating coils improperly often causes problems that eventually require
service calls. According to eldec Engineering Services Manager Mark Kozlowski, installing
coils correctly can prevent costly down time and repairs.

Note: This coil drawing may differ from the coil you are using. Please consult your user
manual.

When mounting an induction heating coil keep the following steps and tips in mind:
1. Turn offcooling water.
2. Turn offthe main switch.
3. Place a bucket under the inductor to capture leaking cooling water.
4. Loosen$the nuts (6) on the coax face plates (2) in order to release the coil clamps (5).
5. Pull the inductor (1) towards the top and remove.
6. Clean both contact surfaces (3) with a Scotch-BriteTM pad.
7. Check both O-rings (4) for damage and replace them if necessary.
8. Check both contact surfaces (3) for damage.
9. Insert the new coil. Make sure the coil and the coaxial transformers have a tight fit.$
Use the following torques when tightening the nuts:
Please also be aware of the following:
•Over-tightening can lead to thread stripping on the nuts (6).
•Under-tightening can lead to:
•Arcing between the coil and coax contact surfaces (3), which can lead to
surface pitting.
•Current running through the stud to the clamp, which can melt the stud.
Caution! Be sure to use only brass nuts and washers!
