-SAFETY GUARD WARNING-
The EHK comes with its safety guard pre-set to the correct position. DO NOT
REMOVE THE SAFETY GUARD DURING OPERATION. ALWAYS OPERATE
THE EHK WITH THE SAFETY GUARD SET BETWEEN 23° - 45°. The risk of
kickback or binding, however small, is greatly increased when using the EHK
without the safety guard. The guard also protects the operator from broken
grinding wheel fragments and hoof debris. IF YOU REMOVE THE SAFETY
GUARD, DO NOT USE THE EHK.
-OTHER WARNINGS-
We caution you not to force the discs into the hoof. LET THE EHK DO THE WORK
AS EXCESSIVE FORCE COULD CAUSE BEARING/GEAR FAILURE.
OVERHEATING: Do not overwork the EHK. IF THE UNIT OVERHEATS,
SWITCH IT OFF AND ALLOW IT TO COOL. Failure to do so could burn out the
motor. Clean out the motor on a regular basis to prevent clogging, which could
contribute to overheating.
OVER-TIGHTENING: DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN THE SCREWS AS YOU COULD
STRIP THE INTERNAL GEAR IN THE ALUMINUM GEAR HEAD. Use a gentle
touch to secure the screws. In the event of failure, contact DeWolf & Associates, LLC.

Electric Hoof Knife power unit will be free from defects in material and/or workman-
ship for a period of one year from the date of purchase.
Seller’s sole obligation and your exclusive remedy under this limited warranty and, to
the extent permitted by law, any warranty or condition implied by law, shall be the
repair or replacement of parts, without charge, which are defective in material or
workmanship and which have not been misused, carelessly handled, and/or mis-
repaired by persons other than Seller and/or Authorized Service Station. In the un-
likely event of a failure of the product to conform to this written warranty, please take
the following actions:
If purchased in store, DO NOT return your product to the place of purchase. Securely
package the EHK by itself (remove all discs and chains) and return the EHK, freight
prepaid, along with:
1. A copy of your dated proof of purchase (please keep a copy for yourself).
2. A completed copy of the Warranty Work Request Form (which can be
found online at www.ElectricHoofKnife.com. If you do not have access to

We recommend that the package be insured against loss or in-transit damage for
which we cannot be responsible. Damage to the product resulting from tampering,
accident, abuse, negligence, unauthorized repairs or alterations, unapproved attach-
ments or other causes unrelated to problems with material or workmanship are not
covered by this warranty. Any implied warranties shall be limited in duration to one
year from date of purchase. No employee, agent, dealer or other person is author-
ized to give any warranties on behalf of Electric Hoof Knife products from DeWolf &
Associates, LLC. DeWolf & Associates, LLC makes no other warranty of any kind
whatsoever, express or implied, and all implied warranties of merchantability and
fitness for a particular purpose which exceed the above mentioned obligation are
hereby disclaimed by DeWolf & Associates, LLC and excluded from this limited war-
ranty.
Some states in the U.S. and some Canadian provinces do not allow limitations on
how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you. In
no event shall the Seller be liable for any incidental or consequential damages
(including but not limited to liability for loss of profits) arising from the incidental or
consequential damages. This limited warranty applies only to the Electric Hoof Knife
power unit included in the Electric Hoof Knife Horse, Electric Hoof Knife Miniature
Horse, Equine Hoof Care, Electric Hoof Knife Cow, Complete Cow, and Electric Hoof
Knife Goat & Sheep sets sold within the United States of America, Canada and the
commonwealth of Puerto Rico. For warranty coverage within other countries contact
your local Electric Hoof Knife distributor.

Use only discs or accessories that are
sold by the manufacturer for your
model. Discs or accessories that may
be suitable for a similar tool may become
hazardous when used on the EHK.
You do not need to grease the EHK or
any of its discs.
Carefully handle both the EHK and
individual discs to avoid chipping or
cracking. Install a new disc if the EHK
is dropped while spinning. Do not use a
disc that may be damaged. Fragments
from a disc that bursts during operation
will fly away at great velocity, possibly
striking you or bystanders.
Inspect the hoof for nails before
trimming. Nails or other foreign objects
can cause the EHK to grab or jump.
Never start the EHK when the disc is in
direct contact with the hoof. The disc’s
cutting edge may grab the hoof, causing
loss of control of the EHK.
Avoid bouncing and snagging the
discs. This can cause loss of control
and kick-back.
If the disc or EHK becomes jammed or
bogged down, turn the EHK off by the
switch. Wait for all moving parts to
stop and unplug the EHK, then free the
jammed material. If the power switch is
left on, the EHK could unexpectedly
restart, causing serious personal injury.
Do not leave a running EHK
unattended. Always turn the power off.
It is only safe to put the EHK down
when it has come to a complete stop.
Do not alter or misuse the EHK. Any
alteration or modification is a misuse and
may result in serious personal injury.
MAINTAINENCE & SERVICE
CAUTION: Disconnect the plug from
the main power before performing any
maintenance or cleaning work.
After use, clean the EHK thoroughly,
removing all hoof residue with a brush
or a soft cloth. Ensure all ventilation
slots are free from obstruction.
Regularly clean the EHK’s air vents
with compressed air. Accumulation of
hoof shavings or other foreign particles
and debris inside the motor housing may
cause overheating or electrical failures.
Certain cleaning agents such as carbon
tetrachloride, gasoline, ammonia, etc.
may damage plastic parts.
EHK service must be performed only
by qualified repair personnel. Service
or maintenance performed by unqualified
personnel could result in a risk of injury
and will void any warranty. Use of
unauthorized parts or failure to follow
maintenance instructions may create a
risk of electric shock or injury.

CHANGING THE DISC
CAUTION: Disconnect the plug from its
power source before changing the
disc. Never press the locking button if
the disc is still rotating.
1. Press the locking button (1).
2. Turn the center screw (4) using the
hex key (5) until the locking button
(1) engages.
3. Undo the center screw (4) then
remove the attachment washer (3)
and the disc (2).
4. Fit the new disc (2) and ensure it is
properly seated in the attachment
washer’s shoulder (3). (If the disc you
are installing has a center hole with
two flat sides like the picture below,
you will need to make sure the flat
sides of the disc line up with the flat
sides on the attachment washer.)
5. Press the locking button (1) and
secure the center screw (4), but do
not over-tighten it.
6. After changing the disc (2) or making
any adjustments, make sure the
attachment washer (3) is secure.
Loose pieces can shift, causing loss
of control and loose rotating parts
could be violently thrown.
CAUTION: Remove the hex key before
turning the EHK on. A wrench or a key
that is left attached to a rotating part of
the EHK may result in personal injury.
ADJUSTING THE SAFETY GUARD
CAUTION: Disconnect the plug from its
power source before adjusting the
safety guard.
1. Release the set screw (1) using the
hex key (2).
2. Turn the safety guard (3) to the
desired position, making sure it will
protect your fingers during operation.
3. Retighten the set screw (1) and check
that the safety guard (3) is properly
and securely seated on the EHK. Do
not over-tighten.
ASSEMBLING THE CHAINSAW DISC
1. Place one of the flat discs on an
even, flat surface.
2. Place the chainsaw chain on top of
the first disc and the second disc on
top of the chainsaw chain.
3. Make sure that the two flat sides of
the disc’s center hole line up (or else
the disc will not fit properly on the
EHK’s attachment washer). (Con’t...)
CAUTION: PLEASE READ AND
UNDERSTAND ALL OF THE
INSTRUCTIONS INCLUDED IN THIS
BOOKLET. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY
RESULT IN ELECTRIC SHOCK, FIRE,
AND/OR SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY.

4. Minor adjustments may be needed to
help the chain fit properly between
the two discs.
5. To install the disc on the EHK, use
the same installation technique as
described previously in “Changing
the Disc.”
CAUTION: When installing the disc on
the EHK, make sure the teeth are
pointing in the same direction as the
arrow located on the EHK’s head. The
rakers should be on the left side of the
teeth with the tungsten carbide tips
facing counter-clockwise.
HOLDING THE EHK
For the most control over the EHK, lightly
grip the area just below the gear head,
with the EHK resting on your fingertips.
Avoid blocking the air vents and try not to
press the locking button while trimming.
CAUTION: The locking button exists so
that it is easier for you to change discs
and sharpen the chainsaw teeth.
Accidently depressing the locking
button during operation will cause the
locking button to vibrate and chatter.
This indicates that the locking button is
trying to engage the drive shaft. While
not usually damaging, care should be
taken to not engage the locking button
during operation.
Pressing the locking button with
FORCE while the EHK is running could
damage and/or destroy the locking
button. Therefore, we recommend that
you always hold the Electric Hoof Knife
so that your fingers are not touching
the locking button.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
The EHK is equipped with a double
polarized plug (one blade is wider than
the other) for safety. This plug will fit in
a polarized outlet only one way. If the
plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse
the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a
qualified electrician to install a polarized
outlet. Do not change the plug in any way.
Double insulation eliminates the need for
the three wire grounded power cord.
We recommend that you plug the EHK
into a grounded outlet or use a ground
fault interrupter (GFI) extension cord.
Avoid body contact with grounded
surfaces such as pipes, fencing, etc.
There is an increased risk of electric
shock if your body is grounded.
Contact with a “live” wire will make
exposed metal parts of the EHK “live”
and shock the operator.
Do not expose the EHK to rain or wet
conditions. Water entering the EHK will
increase the risk of electric shock.
Do not abuse the cord. Never use the
cord to carry the EHK or to pull the
plug from an outlet. Keep the cord
away from heat, oil, sharp edges or
moving parts. Do not cut the power cord.
If the cord is damaged, do not use the
tool. You can send it back to DeWolf &
Associates, LLC for repairs. Never
attempt to fix the cord yourself.
When operating the EHK outside, use
an outdoor extension cord marked with
5
the designation letter “W”. These cords
are rated for outdoor use and reduce the
risk of electric shock.
Avoid accidental starting. Be sure the
power switch is in the off position
before plugging the EHK in. Plugging
in an EHK that has the power switched
on is dangerous. Do not carry the EHK
with your finger on the power switch.
PERSONAL SAFETY
Before use, inspect the chain, paying
specific attention to the tungsten
carbide teeth. If any of the teeth are
bent, broken, chipped, damaged, missing,
or overly worn, you will need to replace
the chain as it could be dangerous to use.
A well-maintained EHK with sharp teeth is
less likely to bind and is easier to control.
Keep your work area clean and well lit.
Always keep yourself and the EHK
between the horse and the power source.
This will make cord management easier
and decrease the likelihood of accidents.
Do not operate the EHK in an explosive
atmosphere, such as in the presence of
flammable liquids, gases, or dust. The
EHK can create sparks which may ignite
the dust or fumes. Keep bystanders away
while operating the EHK.
Stay alert, watch what you’re doing, and
use common sense during operation.
Do not use the EHK while tired or
under the influence of drugs, alcohol,
or medication. A moment of inattention
while operating the EHK may result in
serious personal injury.
Dress properly. Always wear proper
and adequate eye protection, gloves,
and long-legged trousers. Do not wear
loose clothing or jewelry. Contain long
hair. Keep your hair, clothing, and gloves
away from moving parts as they may get
caught and cause injury.
Use safety equipment and always wear
eye protection. Dust mask, non-skid
shoes, hard hat, and/or hearing protection
must be used for appropriate conditions.
Use the EHK only in ventilated areas.
Using personal safety devices & working in
a safe environment reduces risk of injury.
Do not overreach. Keep proper footing
and balance at all times. Proper footing
and balance enables better control of the
EHK in unexpected situations.
Do not reach in the area of the rotating
wheel. The proximity of the rotating
wheel to your hand may not always be
obvious. Do not touch the disc or attempt
to remove any material from the disc while
it is still spinning.
EHK USE AND CARE
Always be aware of the switch location,
when placing the EHK down or when
picking the EHK up. You may
accidentally activate the switch.
Store an idle EHK out of reach of
children and other untrained persons.
The EHK is dangerous in the hands of
untrained users.
Check for misalignment or binding of
moving parts, breakage, or any other
condition that may affect the EHK’s
operation. If damaged, have the EHK
serviced before using. Accidents can be
caused when operating a poorly
maintained EHK.
