DYNACORD® PROANNOUNCE™ AND EV® EVID LOUDSPEAKERS
ADD TO CONTINUED SUCCESS OF GRANITE CITY BREWPUBS
Maple Grove, MN (July 2004): Just one week after opening the doors of
their eighth restaurant & microbrewery in Maple Grove, Minnesota, Granite
City Food and Brewery (www.gcfb.com) announced record-breaking first-
week sales figures. The company has experienced remarkable growth since
opening its first location in 1999, thanks to a winning formula of great beer,
food, service… and sound. Integral to Granite City’s success are the
intercom, paging, and distributed sound systems installed in their
restaurants, designed and installed by Aufderworld (www.aufderworld.com)
of Bloomington, MN, using equipment from Telex Communications. Brian
Chelminiak, Chief Operations Officer at Aufderworld commented:
“This location has a Dynacord ProAnnounce system running four zones of
audio for playback and paging – dining, kitchen, bar, and patio, with a direct
intercom from the bar to the kitchen. The EVID 4.2 and 6.2 loudspeakers are
perfect, blending in almost invisibly into the architectural style – exposed
ducts and A/C conduits, etc., yet the sound is clear everywhere. The
coverage is phenomenal, and the low-end response is equally impressive
from the EVID 6.2s (full-range) alone. The two EVID 12.1 subs ceiling-
mounted in the bar area provide ample additional low end for when they turn
things up in the evenings. The 12.1s carry the lows all through the dining
area too. This system seamlessly accommodates paging, satellite TV sports
and music – all the different daily needs of a busy bar/restaurant. They have
the headroom and flexibility to do it all.” Chelminiak added, “The owners and
management are also really happy with the system from an aesthetic
viewpoint: it does so much, yet you can hardly see any hardware anywhere.
Even the source-media racks are concealed in cases behind the bar.”
Heard, but hardly seen: EVID 6.2s in the rafters at the Granite City bar
Chelminiak continued: “With each installation for Granite City we continue to
refine the system design for their needs. We’re right there with the tools to fit
their requirements for each new store, regardless of shape or size. We’re
responsible for installing the satellite TV, DVD and CD equipment into the
Granite City locations, along with the ProAnnounce systems and distributed
EVIDs. This whole system is comprised of clean racks, clean sightlines,
clean sound and clean coverage. The entertainment, paging and routing
capabilities are maximized, and the visible hardware is minimized. The
ProAnnounce system is especially user-friendly, from its low profile in the
rack to low end-user complication in the media rack or at the paging station.”
Aufderworld Operations Manager Jesse Stunes added: “Speaking of low
profile, the EVIDs are unbeatable when it comes to surface ‘mountability.’ In
the dining room we mounted them on a series of painted two-by-fours
incorporated into the roofspace hardware (see photos below), hid the cords,
and you can’t see they’re there. They’re hardly visible, yet your ears certainly
know they’re up there.”
