INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Safety
The safety of this appliance meets the acknowledged rules of technology and the Safety Rule for
Appliances. Additionally, however, we as the producer feel ourselves obliged to familiarize you with
subsequent safety information.
Electric Safety
- Assembly and connection of the new appliance must only be performed by licensed specialists.
Please pay attention to this advice, as otherwise in case of arising damages the claim under
guarantee will be ruled out.
- Repairs of the appliance may only be performed by specialists. Improper repairs may cause
considerable dangers. In case of repairs please appeal to our after-sales service or to your
specialized dealer.
- In case that malfunctions of the appliance, breaks, fissures or cracks arise:
o switch off all cooking zones
o switch off the fuse for the cooking surface or take it out.
Safety for Children
During cooking and frying the cooking zones will get hot. Therefore keep always little children away.
Safety during Use
- Use this appliance only for the usual home cooking and frying of meals.
- Do not use the cooking surface for room heating.
- Be careful when connecting electric appliances to sockets near the appliance. Connection lines
must not come into contact with hot cooking zones.
- Overheated fats and oils will ignite rapidly. When you prepare meals in fat or oil (e.g. French Fries),
you should observe the cooking process.
- Switch off the cooking zones after every use.
Safety during Cleanup
For reasons of safety it is not permitted to clean the appliance with a steam jet or high-pressure water
blaster.

So you avoid damages of your appliance
- Do not use the cooking surface as working area or storing place.
- Do not operate the cooking zones with empty or without any cooking utensils.
- Ceramic-glass is wear-resistant against temperature shocks and very robust, but not unbreakable.
Especially sharp and hard objects which fall onto the cooking surface may damage it.
- Do not use pots of cast iron or with damaged bottoms which are rough and show burrs. Moving
them may cause scratches.
- Do not place pans or pots onto the frame of the cooking surface. It may cause scratches and
damages in the lacquer.
- Pay attention to that no acid-containing liquids, such as vinegar, lemon or lime-solving agents, may
get onto the frame of the cooking surface, as otherwise dull points will arise.
- If sugar or any preparation with sugar gets into contact with the cooking zone and melts, please
remove that immediately, still in hot condition, with a cleaning scraper. As soon as the mass cools
off, the removal may cause surface damages.
- Keep all objects and materials, which may melt, away from the ceramic-glass surface, e.g. plastics
or aluminum foils. If, however, something should start to melt on the ceramic-glass surface, this
must be removed immediately as well with the cleaning scraper.
- If you use special cooking utensils (e.g. pressure-cooker, simmer pot, wok etc.) please observe
producer’s information.

Important Features of this Appliance
-Ceramic-glass cooking surface: The appliance has a ceramic-glass cooking surface and 4 fast-
heating cooking zones. In this connection especially efficient radiant heaters shorten the heating-up
period of the heating elememt considerably.
-Sensor controls: Your appliance is operated by TOUCH-CONTROL sensor controls.
-Cleanup: The advantage of the ceramic-glass cooking surface and the sensor controls is the easy
cleanup. The smooth surface can be cleaned easily. (See chapter “Cleanup and Care”)
-Sensor control on/off: The appliance has a separate main switch by the sensor control “on/off”,
which makes it possible to completely switch on and off the energy supply to the appliance by
touching.
-Displays: Digital displays and/or indicator lights inform on set cooking levels, activated functions as
well as on a possibly existing residual heat of the corresponding cooking zone.
-Safety cutoff: A safety cutoff guarantees that all cooking zones will switch off automatically after
some time, if no changes of settings are made.
-Warm-keeping level: is that cooking level by which you can keep the food warm.
-Indication of residual heat: The display indicates an for residual heat, when the temperature
of the cooking zone causes a danger of burning.
-Double-tuned cooking zone:Besides, the cooking zone includes a double-tuned cooking zone.
Thus your appliance offers a cooking zone with a variable size, e.g. for smaller milk pots. Thereby
you can save energy.
-Childproof lock: This function enables you to lock the cooking zone against unintentional
switching on.

Digital displays
The four displays which are assigned to the four cooking zones show the following:
-, after switching on and with automatic switching off due to the safety function,
- 0, when selecting a cooking zone,
-to ,, according to selected cooking level,
-with residual heat,
-with malfunction,
-with childproof lock.
Safety Cutoff of Cooking Zones
If one of the cooking zones is not switched off after a certain period of time or the cooking level is not
changed the corresponding cooking zone will switch off automatically.
In the display of all cooking zones switched on or is indicated.
The cooking zones will switch off at:
- Cooking level 1 – 2 after 6 hours
- Cooking level 3 – 4 after 5 hours
- Cooking level 5 after 4 hours
- Cooking level 6 – 9 after 1.5 hours.
For switching on activate the cooking zone anew (see chapter “Operation”).

Before the First Use
First Pre-Cleaning
Wipe the ceramic-glass cooking surface with a wet cloth to remove possible traces of production.
Attention: Do not use any sharp and scouring detergents! The surface could be damaged.
Operation of Cooking Surface
Switching on the cooking zone may cause a short humming. This is a peculiarity of all ceramic-
glass cooking zones and does not impact the function or lifetime of the appliance.
TOUCH-CONTROL Sensor Controls
To operate the TOUCH-CONTROL sensor controls put your finger from above and flat on the desired
zone until the corresponding display lights up or goes out and/or the desired function will be carried out.
Switching on the Appliance
The complete appliance will be switched on by the sensor control “on/off” .
Touch the sensor control “on/off” for approximately one second. The digital display shows n and
the digital point flashes.
After the sensor control “on/off” was activated to switch on your appliance it is necessary to select
one of the cooking zones within approximately 10 seconds by the cooking zone selection keys.
Otherwise the appliance will switch off again for safety reasons.
Switching off the Appliance
To switch off the appliance completly actuate the sensor control “on/off” .
Touch the sensor control “on/off” for approximately one second.
After switching off a single cooking zone or the complete cooking surface a possibly still existing
residual heat will be indicated with (like “hot”) in the digital displays of the corresponding cooking
zones.
Selection of Cooking Zones
To select the desired cooking zone
Touch the associated sensor control for approximately one second.
In the associated indication of the cooking zone a zero with a digital point lights n.

Selection of Cooking Levels and
To set or change the cooking level ( to ) for the selected cooking zone.
Increase the cooking level by the sensor control n.
Reduce the cooking level by the sensor control n.
Switching on and off the Double-Tuned Zone
When having double-tuned cooking zones the bigger heating circuit can be switched in to the smaller
cooking zone by the associated sensor control on the ceramic-glass cooking surface depending on the
size of pots and pans.
This can only be switched in if the smaller heating circuit is already switched on.
The indicator lights with a switched in outer cooking zone.
1. Touch the sensor control “double-tuned zone”.
The outer heating circuit is switched in. The indicator next to the sensor control “double-tuned
zone” will light.
2. To switch off the outer heating circuit press the sensor control “double-tuned zone”, the outer
heating circuit is switched off.
Switching off the Cooking Zones
1. Select the desired cooking zone with the sensor controls for the cooking zones.
2. To switch it off press the sensor controls n and n simultaneously or reset to zero by the
sensor control n.
Residual Heat Display
After switching off a particular cooking zone or the whole cooking surface any existing residual heat will
be indicated in the digital display of the corresponding cooking zones by (like “hot”).
Even after switching off the cooking zone the residual heat display will not go out until the cooking zone
has cooled off.
You can use the residual heat for melting and keeping warm food.
Attention! As long as the residual heat display lights there is a danger of
burning.
Attention! In case of a power failure also the symbol n goes out and thus the information on an
existing residual heat. The possibility to burn yourself, however, continues to be. You can avoid this
by an attentive observation.

Childproof Lock
Activation of childproof lock
The childproof lock prevents an unintentional switching on of cooking zones.
The childproof lock can only be activated when no cooking zone is in operation.
1. Touch the sensor control “on/off”.
2. Touch the sensor controls plus and minus simultaneously for approximately one second and
release them.
3. Touch again the sensor control plus. In the digital display n is indicated for approximately ten
seconds. Now the childproof lock is active.
Using the cooking surface with activated childproof lock
1. Touch the sensor control “on/off”. The digital displays indicate .
2. Within ten seconds touch the sensor controls plus and minus simultaneously for
approximately one second. The digital display indicates and the digital point flashes.
3. Select the cooking zone and set the desired cooking level.
The childproof lock is deactivated until the appliance will be switched off the next time. All cooking
zones and cooking levels can be used in the usual way.
Deactivation of childproof lock
The childproof lock can only be deactivated when no cooking zone is in operation.
1. Touch the sensor control “on/off”. The digital displays indicate .
2. Touch the sensor controls plus and minus simultaneously for approximately one second and
release them.
3. Touch again the sensor control minus. The symbol goes out and will be indicated. Now
the childproof lock is deactivated.

Use, Tables, Tips
Cooking Utensils
The better the pot the better the cooking result.
- You can identify good cooking utentils by the pot bottom. The bottom should be as thick and level
as possible.
- Utensils with bottoms of aluminum or copper may leave metal colorings on the ceramic-glass
surface which can be removed again only hardly or not at all.
- Do not use pots of cast iron or with damaged bottoms which are rough or show
burrs. When moving you can cause staying scratches.
- In cold condition the pot bottoms are usually dished slightly to the inside
(concave). In no case they should be dished to the outside (convex).
Tips for Saving Energy
You can save valuable energy by observing following points:
- As a general principle put on pots and pans before switching on the cooking
zone.
- Dirty cooking zones and cooking utensil bottoms increase the power
consumption.
- If possible, close pots and pans always with the lid.
- Switch off cooking zones before the end of the cooking time in order to use
the residual heat, e.g. for keeping warm food or for melting.
- Pot bottom and cooking zone should be of the same size. When purchasing
new pots and pans pay attention to the bottom diameter. Manufacturers
often indicate the upper diameter of the utensil’s rim.
- Using a pressure-cooker reduces the cooking time by up to 50%.

Reference Values for Cooking with the Cooking Zones
The indications in following tables are reference sizes. Which switch position is necessary for cooking
processes depends on the quality of cooking pots and on the kind and quantity of food.
We recommend to select the parboiling level “9” for parboiling or lightly roasting and to let meals
with a longer cooking time finish boiling afterwards on the corresponding cooking-on level ?.

Cleanup and Care
Ceramic-Glass Cooking Surface
It is important to clean the cooking surface after every use!
Attention! Never use aggressive detergents such as rough scouring agents and/or scratching pot
cleaners.
Always clean the cooking surface as soon as it is slightly soiled. For this purpose use a wet cloth
and some washing-up liquid. Then dry the cooking surface with a clean cloth. No residues of
detergents may be left on the surface.
Clean the whole cooking surface thoroughly once a week. For that purpose use “Sidol-Edelstahl-
glanz” (in Engl.: agent for high-grade steel brilliance), “Stahl-Fix” (in Engl.: agent for steel brilliance),
“WK-Top” or “Cillit”.
After that clean the whole cooking surface with clear water sufficiently and dry it with a clean cloth.
Please watch that no residues (detergent) will remain on the surface! Otherwise the cooking
surface would be damaged!
Special Soilings
Over-boiled meals
First soak these with a wet cloth and afterwards remove the residues
of dirt with a glass or razor blade scraper.
Attention! Danger of injury!
After that clean the cooking surface with the required detergents.
Remove browned sugar, molten plastic immediately – still in warm
(not hot) condition – by using a glass scraper, otherwise damages may
arise.
Afterwards clean the cooking surface normally. Damages through
sugar or sugar-containing meals can be prevented by caring the
cooking surface with “Collo-Profi” or “Cera-fix”.
Spots
Best remove lime spots, spots shining like mother-of-pearl, metal-like
shimmering colorings, pot abrasion which may have formed during
cooking, as long as the cooking zones are still warm. For this purpose
use the above-mentioned detergents. Possibly repeat the cleaning
process.

Attention!
Do not put vinegar, lemons or lime-solving agents on the cooktop
frame, otherwise dull spots will arise. Grains of sand fallen onto the
cooking surface may result in scratches when moving the pot.
Therefore take care that no grains of sand will remain on the cooking
surface.
Emeried decoration
Aggressive detergents and scouring pot bottoms will emery the
decoration in the course of time and result in dark spots.
You will receive suitable detergents and preservative agents as
well as glass scrapers from your AEG after-sales service.

What to do if ...
Relief in Case of Malfunctions
Possibly the malfunction is only a small defect which you can eliminate yourself by subsequent
information.
Do not carry out further repairs if the following information will not help in the concrete case.
Warning! Only specialists are allowed to carry out repairs at the appliance. Improper repairs may
result in considerable dangers for the user. In case of a repair please contact your specialized
dealer or the after-sales service.
What to do if ...
... the cooking zones do not function?
Check whether
- the fuse in the indoor installation (fuse box) is intact. Should the fuses trigger off several
times, please call an authorized electrician.
- the appliance is switched on correctly,
- the indicators in the control panel light,
- the corresponding cooking zone is switched on,
- the cooking zones are set to the desired cooking-on level (see chapter “Cooking“),
- the safety cutoff of the cooking zones has triggered (see chapter “Safety Functions“).
... the cooking zones cannot be switched off?
Check whether
- the control panel is locked (see chapter “Childproof Lock“),
- a period of more than 10 seconds have passed between pushing the on/off key and switching
on the desired cooking zone (see chapter “Switching on the appliance“),
- the sensor controls are partly covered by a wet cloth or a liquid.
... the display except for residual heat suddenly fails?
Check whether
- the on/off key was actuated unintentionally,
- the sensor controls are partly covered by a wet cloth or similar things,
- the safety cutoff was activated.
... after switching off the cooking zones no or for residual heat will appear in the display?
Check whether
- the cooking zone was in operation only shortly and therefore is not yet hot enough. If the
cooking zone is hot, please call the AEG after-sales service.
... a cooking section cannot be switched on?
Check whether
- the childproof lock is switched on (symbol ).

... the display flashes?
The overheat protection of the electronic control triggered a temporary locking of the front left
cooking zone. It can only be activated again, when the appliance has cooled down ( goes out).
The other three cooking zones continue to be in working order.
... the display lights?
Check whether
- the sensor controls have partly been covered or soiled by a wet cloth, liquid or something
similar.
Clean the cooking zone.
Switch the expulsion fuse off for a short time or turn out the fuses.
If the display continues to light, please inform the after-sales service. If you take use of the
service by reason of wrong operation, the visit of the service technician cannot be given without
charge even during the guarantee period.

Safety Information for the Electrician
- Within the electrical installation an equipment is to be provided, which permits to disconnect the
appliance from the mains with a contact opening width of at least 3 mm at all poles. Suitable
separating devices are e.g. LS-switches, fuses (screw fuses have to be removed from their fuse
bases), FI-switches and contactors.
- This appliance conforms to the type Y (IEC 335-2-6) referring the protection against danger of fire.
Only appliances of this type are allowed to be built in with one side next to high cabinets or walls.
- Drawers must not be assembled beneath the cooking surface.
- The touch protection must be guaranteed by the installation.
- The stability of the built-in cabinet must meet DIN 68930.
- Built-in ranges and built-in cooktops are equipped with special connection systems. They are only
to be combined with appliances of the matching system.
- For the protection against moisture all sawed-out cut surfaces have to be sealed with suitable
sealing compound.
- With tiled worktops the joints in the bearing surface of the cooking surface must be filled completely
with joint sealer.
- With natural, artificial stone or ceramic cooking surface the snap-on springs have to be glued in
with a suitable resin- or two-pack glue.
- Check the sealing in the bearing surface for perfect and complete seat. It is not allowed to apply
additional silicone sealing compound, which makes a disassembly difficult if a maintenance service
is needed.
- The cooktop must be pressed out from below for disassembly.
Electric Connection
Before the connection check whether the mains voltage of the appliance, which is that voltage given on
the nameplate, agrees with the existing mains voltage. The nameplate is on the lower panel of the
cooking surface. The heating element voltage is AC230 V ~. Even with older mains supplies with AC220
V ~ the appliance works perfectly. The mains connection of the cooking surface has to be designed so
that all poles can be separated by a contact opening width of at least 3 mm, e.g. by LS switch, FI switch
or fuse. A line typed H05VV-F or higher has to be used as mains connection line. The mains connection
clamp is in the bottom of the cooking surface below a lid. By means of a screwdriver you can open the lid
(figure). The connection must be made according to the diagram. Depending on the connection diagram
the connection bridges have to be used accordingly. The protective conductor is connected by a clamp.
The core of the protective conductor must be longer than current-leading cores.
Cable connections have to be carried out according to requirements and the terminals must be tightened
firmly.
In the end the connection line must be secured with the tensile relieving clamp and the lid closed by firm
pressing (locking).
Before the first switching on possibly existing protective foils or stickers have to be removed from the
ceramic-glass surface or the frame.
After connection of the power supply switch on one cooking zone after the other in maximum
position for a short time to check the operability.
