PREPARATIONFORUSE
Unpacking And Set-up
1.)Removethe unitfromthe carton and removeall packing materialsfromthe
unit.
Important: Makesurethatyou removethe ACPowerCordfromthe carton.
2.)Removeanydescriptivelabelsthatmaybe on the top ofthe cabinet. Donot
removeanylabelsfromthe bottomofthe cabinet.
3.)Press on the OPENbutton and lift the lid.
4.)Press the CDDoorinthe area marked “OPEN/CLOSE”toopen the CDDoor.
Removethe whiteTransitProtection Cardfromthe CDmechanism.Discardit
and closethe CDDoor.

POWERSOURCES
Thissystemcan be operated on 6“C”batteriesoron normal120V60HzAChouse
current. Attempting tooperatethissystemon anyotherpowersourcemaycause
damage tothe unitand suchdamage isnotcovered byyourwarranty.
BatteryOperation
1.)Closethe lidand placethe unitup-side downon aflatsurface.
2.)Press the twotabson eachofthe batterydoorsand removethe doors.
3.)Insert6“C”batteriesintothe batterycompartmentaccording tothe following
diagram.
Besuretoobservethe correctpolaritywhen installing the batteries.If the
batteriesareinstalled incorrectlythe unitwill notoperate.
Note:WerecommendAlkaline batteriesforlongestlifeand bestperformance.
4.)Replacethe batterydoorsand turnthe unitrightside up again.
BATTERYPRECAUTIONS
Followtheseprecautionswhen using batteriesinthisdevice:
1.Useonlythe sizeand type ofbatteriesspecified.
2.Besuretofollowthe correctpolaritywhen installing the batteriesasindicated inthe battery
compartment. Reversed batteriesmaycausedamage tothe device.
3.Donotmixdifferenttypesofbatteriestogether(e.g.Alkalineand Carbon-Zinc)oroldbatteries
withfreshones.
4. If the deviceisnottobe used foralong period oftime,removethe batteriestoprevent
damage orinjuryfrompossiblebatteryleakage.
5.Donottrytorecharge batteriesnotintendedtobe recharged;theycan overheatand rupture.

AC Operation
1.)Unwind theACpowercordand extend ittoitsfull length.
2.)Insertthe smallerend ofthe cordintotheACsocketon the side ofthe cabinet.
3.)Insertthe plug intoanyconvenient120V60HzACoutlet.
Note:Inordertooperatethisuniton batteriestheACcordmustbe disconnected
fromthe unit.
CAUTION
Thissystemisdesigned tooperateon 120V60HzAChousecurrent.Connecting
thissystemtoanyotherpowersupplycouldresultindamage tothe unitwhichis
notcovered byyourwarranty.You will notethatthissystemisequipped witha
polarized ACpowerplug having one blade widerthan the other.Thisisasafety
feature.If thisplug doesnotfitintoyourexistingACoutlet, do nottrytodefeatthis
safetyfeaturebyfiling the wide blade tomakeitfitintoyouroutlet. If thisplug will
notfitintoyouroutlet, you probablyhavean out-dated non-polarizedACoutlet. You

Important Information:
This system can only be operated with the lid in the open position. If you close the
lid while the radio or a CD is playing the power shuts ‘Off’ automatically.
LISTENING TO THE RADIO
1.) Press the OPEN button and raise the lid.
2.) Press the POWER button to turn the system ‘On’.
3.) Press the TUNER button to select the radio function.
4.) Press either the AM of FM button to select the desired band.
5.) If you select the FM band pull the FM antenna out from the right side of the
cabinet, extend it to its full length and position it vertically.
6.) Rotate the TUNING control to select the desired station. If you tune to an FM
Stereo station the FM ST. indicator will light.
7.) Press the VOL. UP or DOWN buttons to adjust the volume.
Important! Speaker Protection Circuit
To prevent damage to the two ultra thin speakers mounted in the lid, the
VOLUME control will automatically return to a low 'default' setting each time
the power is switched 'Off'. Adjust the volume to a comfortable listening level
each time you switch the power 'On'.
8.) When you are finished listening press the POWER button to shut the system
‘Off’’. Closing the lid will also shut ‘Off’ the power.

PLAYING COMPACT DISCS
Normal Playback
1.) Press the OPEN button and raise the lid.
2.) Press the POWER button to turn the
system ‘On’.
3.) Press the CD button to select the CD
function.
4.) Press the CD door on the OPEN/CLOSE marking to open the door.
5.) Place a disc on the center spindle with the printed label side facing up. Press
down on the disc near the center hole to make sure the disc
is properly ‘seated’ on the spindle and then close the CD
door. The disc will spin for a few moments while the player
reads the table of contents and then the display will show
the total number of tracks on the disc.
6.) Press the PLAY/PAUSE Button. Playback will begin on
track 1.Adjust the VOLUME controls as desired.
Important! Speaker Protection Circuit

7.) Playback will continue to the end of the disc then the player stops and the
display again shows the total number of tracks on the disc. You may also stop
playback at any time by pressing the STOP button.
8.) When you are finished listening remove your disc from the player, press the
POWER button to shut the system ‘Off’ and close the lid.
