PREPARATIONFORUSE
Unpacking And Set-up
1.)Removethe unitfromthe carton and removeall packing materialsfromthe
unit.
Important: Makesurethatyou removethe ACPowerCordfromthe carton.
2.)Removeanydescriptivelabelsthatmaybe on the top ofthe cabinet. Donot
removeanylabelsfromthe bottomofthe cabinet.
3.)Press on the OPENbutton and lift the lid.
4.)Press the CDDoorinthe area marked “OPEN/CLOSE”toopen the CDDoor.
Removethe whiteTransitProtection Cardfromthe CDmechanism.Discardit
and closethe CDDoor.

Thissystemcan be operated on 6“C”batteriesoron normal120V60HzAChouse
current. Attempting tooperatethissystemon anyotherpowersourcemaycause

BatteryOperation
1.)Closethe lidand placethe unitup-side downon aflatsurface.
2.)Press the twotabson eachofthe batterydoorsand removethe doors.
3.)Insert6“C”batteriesintothe batterycompartmentaccording tothe following
diagram.
Besuretoobservethe correctpolaritywhen installing the batteries.If the
batteriesareinstalled incorrectlythe unitwill notoperate.
Note:WerecommendAlkaline batteriesforlongestlifeand bestperformance.
4.)Replacethe batterydoorsand turnthe unitrightside up again.
BATTERYPRECAUTIONS
Followtheseprecautionswhen using batteriesinthisdevice:
1.Useonlythe sizeand type ofbatteriesspecified.
2.Besuretofollowthe correctpolaritywhen installing the batteriesasindicated inthe battery

Important Information:
This system can only be operated with the lid in the open position. If you close the
lid while the radio or a CD is playing the power shuts ‘Off’ automatically.
LISTENING TO THE RADIO
1.) Press the OPEN button and raise the lid.
2.) Press the POWER button to turn the system ‘On’.
3.) Press the TUNER button to select the radio function.
4.) Press either the AM of FM button to select the desired band.
5.) If you select the FM band pull the FM antenna out from the right side of the
cabinet, extend it to its full length and position it vertically.
6.) Rotate the TUNING control to select the desired station. If you tune to an FM
Stereo station the FM ST. indicator will light.
7.) Press the VOL. UP or DOWN buttons to adjust the volume.
Important! Speaker Protection Circuit
To prevent damage to the two ultra thin speakers mounted in the lid, the
VOLUME control will automatically return to a low 'default' setting each time
the power is switched 'Off'. Adjust the volume to a comfortable listening level
each time you switch the power 'On'.
8.) When you are finished listening press the POWER button to shut the system
‘Off’’. Closing the lid will also shut ‘Off’ the power.

PLAYING COMPACT DISCS
Normal Playback
1.) Press the OPEN button and raise the lid.
2.) Press the POWER button to turn the
system ‘On’.
3.) Press the CD button to select the CD
function.
4.) Press the CD door on the OPEN/CLOSE marking to open the door.
5.) Place a disc on the center spindle with the printed label side facing up. Press
down on the disc near the center hole to make sure the disc
is properly ‘seated’ on the spindle and then close the CD
door. The disc will spin for a few moments while the player
reads the table of contents and then the display will show
the total number of tracks on the disc.
6.) Press the PLAY/PAUSE Button. Playback will begin on
track 1.Adjust the VOLUME controls as desired.
Important! Speaker Protection Circuit

7.) Playback will continue to the end of the disc then the player stops and the

Pause Control
To Pause temporarily during playback, press the PLAY/PAUSE
button. The sound stops and the track display flashes but
the disc continues to spin. Press PLAY/PAUSE once more
to cancel Pause mode and resume normal playback.
To Start Playback From A Specific Track
After the player reads the disc and displays the total
number of tracks press either the FWD or REV
buttons until the desired track number appears on the
display, then press the PLAY/PAUSE button. Playback
will begin on the selected track.
To Skip Tracks During Playback
Press the FWD button once to skip to the beginning of the next track. Continue
pressing the FWD button to skip forward to higher numbered tracks.
Press the REV button once to skip back to the beginning of the current track.
Continue pressing the REV button to skip back to lower numbered tracks.
High Speed Music Search
During playback depress and hold either the FWD or REV buttons to search
rapidly forward or backward within a track to locate a specific musical passage.
The volume level is automatically reduced during high speed search. Release the
or buttons when you reach the desired passage. Normal playback will
resume when the buttons are released, and the volume level also returns to normal.

Repeat Playback
You can automatically repeat the entire disc or a single track.
To repeat the entire disc:
Load the disc in the player and wait until the display shows
the total tracks. Press the P. MODE button once. The REPEAT
indicator will appear in the display. Press the PLAY/PAUSE
button to begin playback. The entire disc will be repeated
indefinitely.
To repeat a single track:
Load the disc in the player and wait until the display shows the
total tracks. Press the P. MODE button twice. The REPEAT 1
indicator will appear in the display. Press the or buttons
to select the desired track and then press the PLAY/PAUSE
button to begin playback. The selected trackwill berepeated
indefinitely.
To cancel Repeat Playback press the STOP button or press the P. MODE button
until the REPEAT indicators no longer appear in the display. You can also cancel
Repeat Playback by switching from CD to TUNER function.
Random (MIX) Playback
To play the tracks on a disc in random order load the disc and
wait for the display to show the total tracks. Press the P. MODE
button three (3) times. The MIX indicator will appear in the
display. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button. The player will
randomly select a track and begin playback.After all tracks on
the disc have been played in random order the player stops
and the display again shows the total tracks.
To cancel Random (MIX) Playback press the P. MODE button until the MIX indicator
disappears, or press the STOP button.

PROGRAMMED PLAYBACK
This CD player has a 19 track programmable memory system that allows you to
program up to 19 tracks on any CD. You can select only the tracks that you want to
hear and have them play in any order you want to hear them. The same track can
be programmed to play several times if desired.
NOTE : Programming can only be done when the player is in Stop mode.
1.) Press the PROGRAM button. The PROGRAM indicator
appears and Program Memory number 1 flashes in the
display.
2.) Press the FWD or REV buttons to select the first track
to be programmed. (Example: Track 3) The selected track
number flashes.
3.) Press the PROGRAM button again to enter track 3 into Program Memory
number 1. The display will momentarily show Program Memory number 1 and
then return to the flashing track number display.
4.) Press the FWD or REV buttons to select the next track to be
programmed.Whentheselected track number is flashing press the PROGRAM
button again to enter the track in Program Memory 2.
5.) Repeat Step 4 until you have entered up to 19 tracks in the program memory.
6.) Press the PLAY/PAUSE button. The PROGRAM indicator
begins flashing and playback will begin on the first
programmed track.
7.) After all programmed tracks have played the player stops and the display
shows the total tracks on the disc. The PROGRAM indicator remains 'On' and
the program remains in the memory. Press the PROGRAM button and then
the PLAY/PAUSE button to repeat the programmed sequence. If you press
only the PLAY/PAUSE button, playback will begin on track 1 as usual but
the PROGRAM indicator remains 'On'.
To clear the program memory, open the CD door, switch from CD to Tuner function,
or shut the Power 'Off'. You cannot cancel the Programmed Playback mode by
pressing the STOP button.

REPEAT
Program Repeat Playback
You can also use the Program and Repeat features together to repeat an entire
programmed sequence of tracks indefinitely. First program the
tracks you wish to hear in the desired order as described above.
Then press the REPEAT button once so that the REPEAT
indicator appears in the display. Press the PLAY/PAUSE
button.ThePROGRAMindicatorflashes,theREPEAT indicator
remains ‘On’ and the programmed sequence will be repeated
indefinitely.
To cancel Programmed Repeat playback, open the CD door, switch to the TUNER
function or shut the power ‘Off’.

•Toremoveadisc fromitsstorage case,press downon the centerofthe case
and lift the disc out, holding itcarefullybythe edges.
•Treatthe disc carefully.Handlethe disc onlybyitsedges.Neverallowyour
fingerstocomeincontactwiththe shiny,unprinted side ofthe disc.
•Donotattachanytape,stickers,etc.tothe disc label.
•Clean the disc periodicallywithasoft, lint-free,drycloth.Neverusedetergents
orabrasivecleanerstoclean the disc.If necessary,useaCD cleaning kit.
•If adisc skipsorgetsstuck on asection ofthe disc,itisprobablydirtyor
damaged (scratched).
•When cleaning the disc,wipe instraightlinesfromthe centerofthe disc tothe
outeredge ofthe disc.Neverwipe incircularmotions.
