The ENCO PULSE pulse adapter acquires and handles the pulses
from consumption meters with pulse output and transmits the data
to a network of AMR system.
Use
The pulse adapter is a component of the AMR system.
It is used when data of pulse output meters shall be collected by AMR
system. Such devices can be meters for hot water, cold water, gas,
electricity, etc.
Functions
Acquisition of the pulses delivered by the connected consumption
meters
Monitoring the connecting cable in the case of metering devices
with NAMUR circuit
Handling of pulses and storage of consumption data and set day
values
Transmission of data telegrams to the AMR system
Ordering
ENCO PULSE-MBus - Pulse adapter with integrated M-bus interface
(Standard version).
ENCO PULSE-RS - Pulse adapter with integrated 3V RxTx interface
(special order).
ENCO PULSE-RF - Pulse adapter with integrated RF 866MHz interface
(special order).
Technical data
The pulse adapter handles only pulses from potential-free pulse sources, according
with the following specification (depending on the programmed pulse source type):
Pulse source Limit values (if parameters are
appropriately set)
Electronic outputs residual voltage when switched
<0,7V
(Open Collector, max. frequency

Power supply The pulse adapter is powered by a lithium battery 3,6V, which has a
service life of 12 + 1 years.
During the replacement of the battery, the adapter must be connected
to the communication network.
Data
transmission Data are transmitted inside M-Bus network (or3V RxTx network) to the

Mounting
Pulse adapter can be mounted on standard DIN-rail, in electrical cabinet
or on vertical wall, using three screws. It must be installed at the nearest
possible distance from the meters. It is forbidden to wire pulse cable and
network cable nearby (less than 5 cm) with power cables or cables of
other devices.
Important: It is forbidden to attach the pulse adapter directly to a
wall if there is a risk that on walls can be condensed humidity or
temperature of a surface of a wall can fall lower than 5 °. In this
case, it is recommended to attach the calculator so that between it
and wall surfaces there were an air gap not less than 5 cm.
Mounting on the wall:
Mounting on standard DIN-rail in electrical cabinet:
Turn down the fixers and remove the cover. According to the connection diagram
connect up the adapter to the meter and to the communications network. Two-wire
cable with cross- 2should be used for connection. Cables should
be run through rubber seal caps and anchored with clamps.
Commissioning notes
The pulse adapter must be programmed during installation. Only properly
trained service personnel can set up the parameters of pulse adapter. The
parameters can be set via M-bus (or 3V RxTx), using a PC with special
software. Enter the following data:
