BEFORE STARTING:
UNPACK
Open up and
unpack all items
STEP 1 – POSITON MID CROSSBAR ~ 51”
1) Place MID Crossbars (8-00-9602 or 8-00-9702) on top of the Jeep Jeep Hard Top such that the feet are down. Center
crossbar left and right. Position Crossbars forward and back to your desired location.
STEP 2 – POSITON HARDTOP BRACKETS
2) Position all hardtop brackets on the ends of the Crossbars such that the bracket
bottom sits in the rain gutter groove and the crossbar sits in the bracket “U” shape.
Squeeze slightly (compress foam) and slide the 3/8” Carriage bolt through (front to
back). On the threaded side, slide on the Flat Washer, Lock Washer, then the Hex
Nut. DO NOT TIGHTEN YET. Do this for all 4. When happy with the position, move
onto Step 3)
STEP 3 – INSTALL BOTTOM OF BRACKET”
3) For all brackets, position the small bottom piece of the bracket under the Jeep Gutter
lip, slide the Cap Screw and Cap Screw Lock Washer through hole. Thread into the
Large Hard Top bracket welded Nut. Tighten using the Allen Key. Do not over Tighten.
4) When done all 4 Cap Screws, go back and tight down all 3/8” Hex Nuts from Step 2
using your Adjustable Wrench. Periodically check bolts for tightness throughout
product life.

IMPORTANT: IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE INSTALLER/USER TO DECIDE WHERE AND HOW MUCH WEIGHT
TO DISTRIBUTE IN ANY ONE LOCATION. OVER EXTENDING A THREADED FOOT IN ONE SPOT WILL CAUSE
DAMAGE TO THE ROOF TOP. WHEN INSTALLING FEET AND WHEN PUTTING LOAD ON THE ROOF TOP, TAKE CAUTION TO
ALWAYS DISTRIBUTE THE WEIGHT AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE, AND NEVER, NEVER LOWER A FOOT CLOSE TO, ON THE EDGES
OF, OR ONTO GLASS ITSELF OR OTHERWISE FRAGILE TOP. WE WILL NOT COVER ANY DAMAGE RELATED TO THIS.
WEIGHT CAPACITY IS LIMITED TO JEEP’S MAXIMUM STATIC AND DYNAMIC WEIGHT LIMITS. WHEN PUTTING LOAD ON
THE ROOF TOP, TAKE CAUTION TO ALWAYS DISTRIBUTE THE WEIGHT AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. USE COMMON SENSE
WHEN INSTALLING AND CARRYING LOADS. EXR CROSSBARS ARE THE STRONGEST ON THE MARKET, BUT INSTALLATION
OF CROSSBARS DOES NOT MAKE YOUR VEHICLE INVINCIBLE, AND THEY DO NOT PROTECT YOU IN THE EVENT OF A
VEHICLE ROLL OVER OR OTHER IMPACT. PLEASE USE COMMON SENSE IF YOUR LIFE EXPERIENCE HAS PROVEN TO YOU
THAT OTHERS MAY HAVE MORE COMMON SENSE (SUCH AS A SPOUSE), PLEASE CONSULT THIS PERSON FOR JUST
ABOUT EVERYTHING. :-)
BEFORE EACH USE (DRIVE), ALWAYS CHECK ALL BOLTS FOR TIGHTNESS AND CHECK THE POSITION AND
STRAPS/BOLTS/PINS OF THE LOAD BEING CARRIED. WHENEVER LOADING SOMETHING ON TOP OF THE CROSSBARS FOR
THE FIRST TIME YOU SHOULD STOP THE VEHCILE AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF DRIVING TO CHECK/TIGHTEN EVERYTHING
(THIS IS FOR ALL ITEMS ON ALL ROOF RACKS, NOT JUST EXR).

Who May Use This Warranty?
This limited warranty extends only to the original purchaser of products and services from the Site. It does not extend to any subsequent or other
owner or transferee of the product or any transferee or other beneficiary of the service.
What Does This Warranty Cover?
This limited warranty covers during the Warranty Period (as defined below) defects in materials and workmanship in products and services
purchased from the Site.
What Does This Warranty Not Cover?
This limited warranty does not cover any damages due to: transportation; storage; improper use; failure to follow the product instructions, guidelines or to
perform any preventive maintenance; modifications of or any types of repairs to the product and/or a load system carrier other than those authorized by SMS;
combination or use with any products, materials, processes, systems or other matter not provided or authorized in writing by SMS Auto Parts, Co.; unauthorized repair;
normal wear and tear; cosmetic rust, and scratches; external causes such as accidents, abuse, intentional or unintentional deformation of parts, unlawful vehicle
operation, or other actions or events beyond our reasonable control.
What is the Period of Coverage?
This limited warranty starts on the date of your purchase and lasts for a THREE YEAR TIME PERIOD the "Warranty Period". The Warranty
Period is not extended if we repair or replace a warranted product or re-perform a warranted service. We may change the availability of this limited
warranty at our discretion, but any changes will not be retroactive.
What Are Your Remedies Under This Warranty?
With respect to any defective products during the Warranty Period, we will, in our sole discretion, either: (i) repair or replace such products (or the
defective part) free of charge or (ii) refund the purchase price of such products.
How Do You Obtain Warranty Service?
To obtain warranty service, you must call 215-310-1917 or email our Customer Service Department at [email protected] during the Warranty
Period to obtain an RMA number. No warranty service will be provided without an RMA number. Any refunds will go through the authorized
distributor, vendor, seller, retailer, re-seller, or website from where the original parts were purchased. Parts must be purchased from an authorized
retailer to qualify for a warranty claim.

THE REMEDIES DESCRIBED ABOVE ARE YOUR SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDIES AND OUR ENTIRE OBLIGATION AND
LIABILITY FOR ANY BREACH OF THIS LIMITED WARRANTY. OUR LIABILITY WILL UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES
EXCEED THE ACTUAL AMOUNT PAID BY YOU FOR THE DEFECTIVE PRODUCT OR SERVICE THAT YOU HAVE
PURCHASED THROUGH THE SITE, NOR WILL WE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BE LIABLE FOR ANY LOSS OF
