LAYOUT :
Die EX-6605E ist eine PCMCIA FireWire 1394 uns USB 2.0Karte mit je zwei externen
Ausgängen für den Anschluss von Peripheriegeräten mit FireWire 1394 oder USB 1.1
bis 2.0 Interface (z.B. Digital Kamera, Digital Aufnahmegerät, Scanner, Drucker , Exter-
ne FireWire Gehäuse für Festplatten usw.). Die EX-6605E ist eine Hard Plug & Play
FireWire PCMCIA BusCard. Die Einstellungen der I/O Adressen und Interrupts werden
vom SYSTEM-BIOS des Motherboards und beim installieren der Betriebssysteme Win-
dows 98SE, 2000, ME und XP vorgenommen. Die EX-6605E hat eine Datenübertra-
gungs-Rate bis 480Mbits pro Sekunde (51MB/Sek.). Sie unterstützt die OHCI Spezifika-
tionen (Open Host Controller Interface).
BESCHREIBUNG :
HARDWARE INSTALLATION :
Wenn Sie die EX-6605E installieren, beachten Sie die folgenden Installationshinweise.
Da es große Unterschiede bei Laptops gibt, können wir Ihnen nur eine generelle Anlei-
tung zum Einbau der EX-6605E geben. Bei Unklarheiten halten Sie sich bitte an die
Betriebsanleitung Ihres Computersystems.
Schalten Sie Ihren Rechner und alle angeschlossenen Peripheriegeräte aus und ziehen
Sie bei allen Geräten den Netzstecker aus. Schieben Sie die EX-6605E PCMCIA Karte
in eine freien Slot von Ihrem Portablen Computer ein. Fixieren Sie die EX-6605E ge-
mäss der Bedienungsanleitung Ihres Laptops. Stecken Sie das mitgelieferte FireWire
oder USB Kabel an die EX-6605E ein. Sie können nun wie in der nachfolgenden Zeich-
nung die verschiedenen FireWire oder USB Peripheriegeräte anschliessen.

WINDOWS 98/98SE INSTALLATION FOR FIREWIRE :
INSTALL IEEE 1394 HOST ADAPTER DRIVER:
When your Windows system boots up, it will find a new hardware on your system called
“PCI FireWire (IEE 1394) Controller”, you will be prompted to install a device driver. The
Installation Wizard will guide you to install the “PCI OHCI compliant IEEE1394 Host
Controller ” drivers.
Click >Next< >Search< >Next< >Next<. Windows found the device driver in some
location (e.g. C:\WINDOWS\INF\1394.INF). Insert your Windows 98 CD into the CD-
ROM drive, click “Next” and >Finish<. Then restart Windows 98.
CHECK THE INSTALL DRIVER:
You can found in the Device Manager the following information about the EX-6605E.
Double click “1394 Bus Controller”. You should see the item “PCI OHCI compliant
IEEE1394 Host Controller ”. Check that no a yellow or red symbol beside the 1394 host
adapter entry.

Go to the Device Manager from your Operating System. Now you have following
information in the Device manager:

WINDOWS XP INSTALLATION FOR USB 2.0 :
Please go to "Windows Update" (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com) to Install Microsoft
USB 2.0 Host Controller Driver or Windows XP Service Pack 2.
If you don’t have the Service Packs, you must install the driver from the CD. Insert the
Driver CD in your CD-ROM drive for example D: and open the directory:
D:\Usb 2.0\VIA\USB2_Host_Drivers
Start the file ”Setup.exe“ and follow the on-screen instructions to finish the installation.
Please restart your PC and put the card into the CardBus slot. Windows will recognize
and install the card automatically.
WINDOWS 2000 INSTALLATION FOR USB 2.0 :
Setup will install Microsoft USB 2.0 Host Controller Driver.
Installing Driver:
Open the SETUP.EXE program in the following folder of the driver CD supplied with your
USB2.0 card. For example D:\Usb 2.0\VIA\USB2_Host_Drivers
Select "Install" button then it will install the "Microsoft USB 2.0 Host Controller Driver"
automatically on your Windows 2000 system. It will copy the driver to the system folder
and set the related registry tree.
Uninstalling Driver:
You could remove the "Microsoft USB 2.0 Host Controller Driver" by selecting the
"Uninstall" button. It will completely remove the driver from the system.
Setup will install VIA USB 2.0 Host Controller Driver.
Installing Driver:
Open the SETUP.EXE program in the following folder of the driver CD supplied with the
your USB2.0 card for example D:\Usb 2.0\VIA\USB2_Host_Drivers
Select "Install" button then it will install the "VIA USB 2.0 Host Controller Driver" auto-
matically on your Windows Me/98 system. It will copy the driver to the system folder and
set the related registry tree.
Uninstalling Driver:
You could remove the "VIA USB 2.0 Host Controller Driver" by selecting the "Uninstall"
button. It will completely remove the driver from the system.
CHECK THE EX-6605 IN THE DEVICE MANAGER :

Nach der Hardwareinstallation der EX-6605E, wird diese beim Hochfahren des Betriebs-
systems automatisch als „PCI FireWire (IEEE 1394) Controller“ erkannt. Windows 98
installiert die EX-6605E als „PCI OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller“. Win-
dows benötigt nun die Windows98 CD. Diese legen Sie nun Ihr CD-ROM Laufwerk ein,
und geben Sie den Pfad ihres Laufwerkes und das Verzeichnis Win98 an (z.B. E:\Win98
bzw. den Laufwerksbuchstaben ihres Laufwerkes). Klicken Sie auf <Weiter>. Jetzt
werden die Treiber installiert.
ÜBERPRÜFEN DER INSTALLIERTEN TREIBER:
Klicken Sie zu <Start> <Einstellungen> <Systemsteuerung> <System>
<Gerätemanager>. Jetzt werden Sie einen neuen Eintrag „1394 Bus Controller“ im
Gerätemanager vorfinden. Mit einem Doppelklick auf „1394 Bus Controller“ erhalten Sie
die Treiber Informationen. Wenn der Treiber als „PCI OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host
Controller“ angezeigt wird, ist die Installation der PCMCIA Karte abgeschlossen.

LAYOUT :
The EX-6605E PCMCIA FireWire 1394 and USB 2.0 host adapter is specially designed
to connect FireWire 1394 and USB 2.0 device’s to any portable computer with PCMCIA
BusCard expansion slots. 1394 is an emerging IEEE bus interface standard for portable
and desktop computing environments. It provides an important linking technology which
bridges the consumer and computer markets, and facilitates the new digital “information
highway”.
The 1394 standard and USB 2.0 describes a Serial bus driven by an advanced commu-
nication protocol which is designed for low system cost while providing the data transfer
rate needed for a high-performance peripheral bus. Because of the inherent advantages
that FireWire 1394 or USB 2.0 possesses, it is well positioned to become the interface
standard of the future.
DESCRIPTION :
HARDWARE INSTALLATION :
When you are ready to Install the EX-6605E, please proceed with the following installa-
tion instructions. Because the design of portable computer varies greatly, only general
installation instructions are given. Please refer your computer’s reference manual when-
ever in doubt.
Turn off the power to your computer and any other connected peripheral’s. Insert the EX
-6605E to the PCMCIA BusCard Slot from your portable computer. Make sure the Card
is seated snugly and oriented correctly. Connect the cable with the FireWire 1394 and
USB 2.0 connector to the PCMCIA card. Now you can connect different FireWire 1394
or USB 2.0 Peripheral devices to the EX-6605E.

INSTALLATION DES HOST ADAPTER IEEE 1394:
Nach der Hardwareinstallation der EX-6605E wird diese beim Hochfahren des Betriebs-
systems Windows 2000 oder XP automatisch als „PCI FireWire (IEEE 1394) Controller“
erkannt. Windows installiert die EX-6605E jetzt als „Texas Instruments OHCI kompa-
tibler IEEE1394 Host Controller“.
Falls Windows 2000 / XP dies nicht selbständig macht, sollte man im Gerätemanager
nach aktualisierter Hardware suchen lassen! Klicken Sie hierzu mit der rechten Maustas-
te in den Gerätemanager und wählen „Nach Aktualisierter Hardware suchen“ aus!
Danach wird die EX-6605E automatisch erkannt und installiert.
ÜBERPRÜFEN DER INSTALLIERTEN TREIBER:
Klicken sie mit der rechten Maustaste auf den Arbeitsplatz und wählen im Menü Verwal-
ten aus. Im folgenden Fenster gehen sie auf Gerätemanager. Mit einem Doppelklick auf
„1394 Bus Controller“ erhalten Sie die Treiber Informationen. Wenn der Treiber als
„Texas Instruments OHCI kompatibler IEEE 1394 Host Controller“ angezeigt wird, ist
die Installation der Karte abgeschlossen.

WINDOWS XP INSTALLATION FÜR USB 2.0 :
Um die EX-6605E unter Windows XP zu installieren brauchen sie Windows XP mit
Service Pack 2 oder installieren sie das Update von Microsoft.
(http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com).
Sollten sie keinen Service Pack installiert haben, müssen Sie den Treiber von der CD
installieren. Legen sie die Treiber CD in ihr CD-ROM Laufwerk z.B. D: und öffnen sie
das Verzeichnis D:\Usb 2.0\VIA\USB2_Host_Drivers
Starten sie das File “Setup.exe“ und folgen sie den Installationsanweisungen.
Treiber Installieren:
Legen sie die Treiber CD in ihr CD-ROM Laufwerk z.B. D: und öffnen sie den Ordner
D:\Usb 2.0\VIA\USB2_Host_Drivers . Starten sie das File „Setup.exe“. Wählen sie
jetzt „Install“ danach wird der „Microsoft USB 2.0 Host Controller Driver“ automatisch in
das Windows 2000 Betriebssystem installiert.
Treiber Deinstallieren:
Der Treiber „Microsoft USB 2.0 Host Contoller Driver“ wird automatisch aus der Registry
entfernt wenn sie wiederum das File „Setup.exe“ gestartet haben und „Uninstall“
auswählen.
WINDOWS 98/ME INSTALLATION FÜR USB 2.0 :
Treiber Installieren:
Legen sie die Treiber CD in ihr CD-ROM Laufwerk z.B. D: und klicken sie auf das
Directory D:\Usb 2.0\VIA\USB2_Host_Drivers . Starten sie das File „Setup.exe“.
Wählen sie jetzt den Schalter „Install“ danach wird der „VIA USB 2.0 Host Controller
Driver“ automatisch in das Windows 98/ME Betriebssystem installiert.
Treiber Deinstallieren:
Der Treiber „VIA USB 2.0 Host Contoller Driver“ wird automatisch aus der Registry
entfernt wenn sie wiederum das File „Setup.exe“ gestartet haben und den Schalter
„Uninstall“ betätigen.
EX-6605E IM GERÄTEMANAGER ÜBERPRÜFEN :
Gehen sie bei Ihrem Betriebssystem zum Gerätemanager. Klicken sie auf USB Geräte.
Es sollten jetzt folgender Einträge im Gerätemanager sein:
