and AHA-3944UW/OF host adapters
deliver superior I/O performance
for UltraSPARC systems with PCI.
Combining multiple channels
and UltraSCSI speed, the AHA-
3940UW/OF and AHA-3944UW/OF
adapters move data faster to meet the
growing demands of workstations and
servers and leading-edge applications.
In fact, these host adapters transfer
data at up to 80 MByte/sec—twice as
fast as the highest-performing single-
channel UltraSCSI host adapter. And
with two channels, they accommodate
twice as many SCSI peripherals—up
to 30 from a single PCI slot.

The AHA-3940UW/OF and AHA-
3944UW/OF adapters have two
independent UltraSCSI channels.
Each channel is powered by its own
PhaseEngine®RISC processor to
provide the fastest possible
response times.
Just like doubling the lanes of high-
way, the AHA-3940UW/OF and
AHA-3944UW/OF adapters double
the data-carrying capacity. Across two
UltraSCSI channels, these adapters
deliver up to 80 MByte/sec. The multi-
channel architecture enables slower
peripherals, such as scanners and tape
drives, to be configured on one chan-
nel, ensuring unimpeded throughput
from high-speed peripherals, such as
disk drives and storage subsystems,
using the other channel.
More devices, more kinds of devices
Without sacrificing performance,
the AHA-3940UW/OF and AHA-
3944UW/OF host adapters accommo-
date up to 30 high-performance disk
drives, CD-ROM drives, tape drives,
CD-Recordable drives, scanners and
other SCSI devices. These adapters
protect SCSI peripheral investment,
allowing a mix of SCSI-1, SCSI-2, and
UltraSCSI, as well as 8-bit and 16-bit
devices for configuration flexibility.
The AHA-3944UW/OF adapter
extends configuration flexibility by
accommodating differential connec-
tions up to 25 meters.
Saving a valuable PCI slot
The AHA-3940UW/OF and AHA-
3944UW/OF host adapters support
multiple UltraSCSI channels through
a single PCI slot, freeing a valuable
PCI slot for other uses. Because one
multichannel adapter does the work
of two single-channel adapters, the
cost per channel of growing a system
is reduced.

Simple installation and configuration
Installation of the AHA-3940UW/OF and
AHA-3944UW/OF adapters is quick and
easy. Simply install the board in the PCI
slot. Then run the easy, menu-driven
SCSISelect ™utility, resident in the on-
board firmware, to configure the host
adapter and install peripherals—without
moving jumpers or termination resistors.
