1 HEALTH & SAFETY
Note: When servicing the Induction Cooktop, health and safety issues must be
considered at all times. Specific safety issues are listed below with their
appropriate icon.
1.1 Electrical Safety
WARNING! TO AVOID ELECTRIC SHOCK!
Do not attempt to service this cooktop without suitable training and
qualifications.
Ensure the mains power has been disconnected before servicing any
part of the cooktop. If the power is required to be on for electrical fault
finding, then extreme care should be taken not to make contact with
electrical components other than with testing probes. Ensure the
cooktop is turned off when removing any electrical component or
connection.
1.2 Health Hazard
This appliance complies with electromagnetic safety standards.
However, persons with cardiac pacemakers or other electrical implants
(such as insulin pumps) must consult with their doctor or implant
manufacturer before using this appliance to make sure that their implants
will not be affected by the electromagnetic field.
Failure to do follow this advice may result in the implant malfunctioning.
1.3 Electrostatic Discharge
An anti-static strap is to be used as electrical static discharge (ESD)
protection when servicing electronic components.
1.4 Good Working Practices
Ensure the work area is kept tidy and free from hazards while servicing
the cooktop. On completion of the servicing, ensure the cooktop and
work area are left clean and tidy.
1.5 Insulation Test
Megger test to check insulation.
Warning Short together the phase and neutral terminals to avoid
damaging any electronic circuitry.
1.6 Sheet Metal Edges
When working around cut sheet metal edges use appropriate gloves or
protection to eliminate the chance of receiving a laceration

The connection of the appliance to earth is mandatory.

5 OPERATION
Note: only cookware with a suitable magnetic base can be used with induction cooktops.
•Cast iron, enamelled (iron-coated)
•Steel
•Special stainless steel for induction cooking can be used.
You must not use cookware made of:
•Normal stainless steel
•Copper
•Aluminium
•Glass plastic
•Ceramic.
You can check whether your cookware is suitable by carrying out a magnet test. Move a
magnet towards the base of the pan. If it is attracted, the pan is suitable for induction.

5.3 Automatic safety turn-off
For your safety, your cooktop automatically turns itself off
•Immediately, if you happen to press two or more controls simultaneously and one of
these is the ON/OFF power control
•After 10 seconds if a control or controls register continuous contact at the same time.
For example, when you leave a pan or cloth on the control panel by accident, the
touch control may register this as being continuously pressed. After 10 seconds, the
symbol will flash and beep in some or all displays (alternating with H if the surface
is hot). The beeping will stop as soon as the contact (whether human or object) stops,
and you can stop the error signal flashing by pressing any control briefly. You may
now continue to use your cooktop.
•If / when the electronics become overheated: all displays will flash and a signal will
sound.

5.4 Locking the controls
When the controls are locked, all controls except the ON/OFF power control are disabled.
To lock the controls:
Press the Control Lock button lightly for 2 seconds. The red light above the control comes on.
To unlock the controls:
Press the control lock button lightly for 2 seconds. The red light above the control goes out.
Note: if you turn the cooktop off with the controls locked, they will still be locked when you
turn the cooktop on again.
5.5 No (suitable) Cookware on Cooking Zone
This symbol will alternate with the selected temperature setting if you
start cooking and
•place no pan on the cooking zone
•OR the pan you’re using is not suitable for induction cooking.
No heating takes place unless there is a suitable pan on the cooking zone.
The cooktop will automatically turn off after 10 minutes if no suitable pan is placed on it.
5.6 Normal noises
These are produced by the technology of induction and do not indicate a fault. Examples
include:
Noise Likely Cause
Crackling or periodic clicking Caused by using iron-plated cookware which has
layers of different metals. The different layers vibrate
slightly differently; this causes the noise in the
cookware.
Low humming (like a transformer) This noise occurs when a high heat setting is used
(especially PowerBoost) and is caused by the large
quantity of energy transmitted from the induction
element to the cookware. The noise should quieten
down or disappear altogether when you decrease the
temperature setting.
Fan noise The cooktop is equipped with a cooling fan to make
sure the electronics do not overheat. The fan may also
continue running after the cooktop has been turned off.

5.7 Using the AutoSimmer feature
Cooking zones set for this feature will first quickly heat up food or bring liquid to the boil at the
highest setting then automatically reduce the heat to a preset lower setting to cook the food
through.
To set a cooking zone for AutoSimmer

When AutoSimmer is set
Initially, while the cooking zone is at the highest setting, A will flash alternately with your
selected lower heat setting.
Then, when the period of highest setting is over, Awill stop flashing and the cooking zone
will automatically reduce the heat to your preset lower setting.
To increase the preset lower heat setting level while A is flashing, simply press +. If you
would like a lower heat setting level than you originally preset, press –and start with step 3
above. Alternatively, wait until A stops flashing and then adjust the temperature setting.

To quit the AutoSimmer setting while A is flashing Press the – control of the corresponding
cooking zone.
Note:
•When AutoSimmer is set for a cooking zone, the cooking zone immediately in front of
or behind it may have to reduce its power level.
•The AutoSimmer and PowerBoost features cannot be used in combination. If you turn
the PowerBoost on when AutoSimmer is already set, the latter will be immediately
cancelled and PowerBoost will be activated instead.
5.8 Using the PowerBoost feature
This feature enables meat to sear or bring liquid to the boil very quickly. When a cooking
zone is set for PowerBoost, it uses more than 100% of the power of that particular cooking
zone, resulting in a boost of intense heat. There is a max allowable time limit of 10 minutes
for safety reasons.
To set a cooking zone for PowerBoost

When PowerBoost is set
•The cooking zone will be on PowerBoost (more than 100%) for 10 minutes, and then
automatically switch back to setting 9 (100%).
To quit the PowerBoost setting
Touch the – control of the cooking zone at any time and select a new setting or turn the
zone off.

5.9 Using the Gentle Heat Feature
This feature is ideal for the most delicate cooking tasks (such as melting chocolate), as the
cooking zone will provide continuous gentle heat (between heat setting levels 0 and 1).
To set a cooking zone for Gentle Heat
To quit the Gentle Heat setting
Press the –control of the cooking zone at any time and select a new setting or
turn the zone off.

5.10 Using the timer
The timer maybe used in two different ways:
•It can be used as a minute minder. In this case, the timer will not turn any
cooking zone off when the set time is up.
•It can be set it to turn one or more cooking zones off after the set time is
up.
•The timer can be set for up to 99 minutes.
