However, if your mixer has an XLR input socket, then it’sbest to purchase abalanced
XLR-F to XLR-M cableto connectthe receiver to the Mic Input. Some mixers will also ac-
cept an unbalanced jackto jacklead mic connection with the receiver’soutput volume
control adjusted down to suit as an alternative connection, but abalanced cablecon-
nection is the better one to use.
Rack Mounting the Receiver
The Fitness Audio SDR5716Receiver is a19” half-rackmount design and is supplied
with aspeciallydesigned 19” rackmount adapter so can be bolted into equipment
cabinets. Assembleas shown in Fig 3. Wehave also supplied you with apair of antenna

Channel Selection and Gain
The channel selector and gain adjustment are located under the battery cover as
shown in the picture below. Tomake channel selection remove the cover and selecta
channel by turning the Channel Selector(6) with asmall screwdriver. Gain adjustment
for Lavalier and Headset microphones can be done by adjusting the MT trimpot(5),
whereas GT trimpot(4) is for the gain adjustment of an Electric Guitar or other high
impedanceline level inputs. If you’re using the Transmitter with an Aeromic then turn
down the MT trimpot to minimum. If

distortion is evident.
Due to minor variations in the casing sizes
of many brands of 9V batteries, the trans-
mitter battery compartment is designed
to accommodate the preferred 9V size
battery made by Eveready -the Energizer
9V Alkaline – but other brands may also
work well.Re-chargeableNi MH batteries
@ 170-190mAH ratings may need to be
re-charged after about 1.5 – 2.0 hours of
continuous use, whereas Alkaline 9V Bat-
teries will generallybe suitablefor about

or with an Arm Pouchor Waist Pouchbeltto suit.
Toselectthe matching channel to the Receiver
rst remove the battery cover and with the small

the one shown on the LED screen. Please note
that the MT-U8 is an 8channel transmitter and will
normallybe supplied lining up with channels01-08
on the receiver, in some countries a“B” group of
channelsmay also be available(Ch. 09-16).In both
cases the channelsline up with the same number
on the receiver and then repeat so that channel 00 is
also channel 08. If you wish to use multipleMT-U8/
SM716systems under the one roof then at least 4
channelsare ne to use without interferencefrom
eachother, in the case of the 630-650MHz range it
is channels1,4, 5or 8and of course, if you are also
using abeltpacktransmitter in the same or another
room nearby, then it can be set to achannel in the
09-16group of whichchannels10, 12,14or 16will
work best with channels1,4, 5or 8.

There will be dierent, non-conicting channelsin other frequencygroups supplied

battery. One AAA battery will supplyover 5hours of air time. Re-chargeableAAA bat-
teries can also be used.
Using Multiple Transmitters At One Location
Please note that the MT-U8 is an 8channel transmitter and will normallybe supplied
lining up with channels01-08 on the receiver. In some countries a“B” group of chan-
nelsmay also be available(Ch. 09-16).In both cases the channelsline up with the same
number on the receiver and then repeat -so that channel 00 is also channel 08 on the
MT-U8. If you wish to use multipleMT-U8/SM716systems under the one roof then at
least 4channelscan be used without causing interferencewith eachother. In the case
of the 630-650MHz range, channels1,4, 5or 8can be used together. If you are also us-
ing abeltpacktransmitter in the same or another room nearby, then that shouldbe set
to achannel in the 09-16group, of whichchannels10, 12,14or 16will work best with
channels1,4, 5or 8. There will be dierent, non-conicting channelsin other frequency
groups supplied around the worldso please checkwith your dealer or national supplier
for this information.
6.REMARKS
RF Interference
If you encounter receiving interference(from other than an operating TVstation),
it can often be overcome by adjusting the receiver’ssquelchcontrol,as described
below. Please note that wireless frequencies are shared with other radio services, and
according to FCC regulations wireless microphone operations are unprotected from
interferencefrom licensed operations in the band. If any interferenceis received by
any Government or non-Government operation, the wireless microphone must cease
operation. (The above statement is valid for the U.S.A.)
Receiver Squelch control
The squelchcontrol on the backpanel of the receiver is preset at the factory, but can
be adjusted if you must use the system in ahigh RF interferencearea. If there is audio
output from the receiver when your transmitter is OFF, adjust the squelchcontrol so
the system will receive the signal from your transmitter but squelchor eliminate the un-
wanted background RF noise. This adjustment can cause areduction in usablerange of
the wireless transmitter, so set the control to the lowest position whichreliablymutes
the unwanted RF signal.

Batteries
Many batteries are known to leak conductive and/or corrosive liquid when not used for
aperiod of time. Please remove the batteries from the transmitter if it is not to be used
for aperiod of afew days or more.
