Installation
A. Attach the Flexstr8 snap-on encoder to your Epson 3500.
B. The encoder attaches to the printer by using the small round pefs below the
printing tray.

C. Next, you need to connect the Flexstr8 encoder to your PC using a micro USB
cable. Please plug the cable into your PC and then the encoder’s micro USB port,
as shown below.

Printer Preferences and Setup
In order to correctly print and encode labels, please make sure to set up your printer
preferences correctly. Please follow the steps shown below.
A. For 3.5 x 3.5 labels use the setting below:
B. Please note that the suggested setting for 3.5 labels is ‘No Auto Cut [Feed to Peel
Off Position]’. This places the antenna directly over the encoder.

C. For 4 x 6 labels use the setting shown below:
D. For 4 x 6 labels, please use the setting ‘No Auto Cut [Feed to Cut Position]’. This reduces
paper james, as these are larger labels.
E. For other Flexstr8 Media, such as custom design labels, etc., please enter the correct
dimensions in this screen. Please ensure that your media has NFC antennas embedded
in to them.

NFC Encoding Software
A. Download our NFC encoding software for the Epson 3500 at Flexst8inc.com. Please
select ‘Yes’ for all windows that pop-up during the installation process.
B. Once you have the software on your computer, please select the shortcut shown below:
C. This will open the main menu of the NFC encoding software, pictured below:

D. To upload an image, press the green ‘+’ button. To rotate your image, press the blue
arrow button, seen below the green ‘+’ button. Both are shown in the image below:
E. Please note: You do not need to set any media dimensions for images in the encoding
software. This is done entirely through the printer settings page.

F. There are currently 3 tabs for printing/encoding on Flexstr8’s NFC software. URL, Text,
and Text Image. You can manually add URLs and text in the simple portion of each tab,
as shown below.

G. You can also upload encode data and image from a CSV file. Select the tab, ‘Use CSV’.
Then select ‘Load from File’ and upload your file.
H. CSVs must follow the format shown below, and include the correct pathing to the image
file you would like to use in your prints. For example:
C:\Users\yourname\Pictures\yourimage.jpg

I. To begin a print and encode job, you need to adjust the settings. Select: the ‘# of Copies’;
if you would like page numbers printed on your labels; if you would like your tages to be
locked. Locked means that they can no longer be encoded with data and the the encode
data is final.
J. Please note: When printing jobs from CSVs, selecting ‘1 copy’ will print as many labels as
there are on the CSV. For example, if your CSV has 5 URLs, and you select 2 copies, then
10 labels will print.

K. Once you have selected the correct settings for your job, press ‘Start Print and Encode’,
then send the job through the printer dialog.

L. The Status Bar in the bottom right will show your your labels being printed and encoded
in real time.

M. Results: 4 locked, NFC encoded smart labels.
N. You can manually encode tags with our software. If a tag fails for whatever reason, leave
the failed tag over the antenna in the snap-on unit. Restart the application. Then press
the ‘Encode URL/Text/Text Image’ button located above the ‘Start Print/Encode’ button.
