Capture, Tag, Organize, and Archive Media with Ease
Focus Capture Suite
The PX-1 includes Focus Capture Suite (Figure 1), which enables you to capture, inte-
grate, and archive video during production from either a local or a remote client computer.
Supporting up to two channels of video simultaneously—each with its own set of controls—
Focus Capture Suite enables you to assign metadata, save clips to projects, and automate in-
gest by creating a capture schedule. In addition to video, the PX-1 stores files such as images
and documents, providing easy access to all production-related files.
Focus Media Import for P2 MXF Files
From your client computer, Focus Media Import (Figure 2) makes it easy to import, manage,
organize, and upload MXF-based content to the PX-1 (Figure 3)—all while preserving the
native Panasonic P2 MXF metadata structure. Import individual media files or entire fold-
ers containing media files—complete with video clips, audio clips, thumbnails, timecode,
and metadata—and maintain the hierarchy that you’ve already established. You can upload
MXF-based content to a user-defined folder or project and the PX-1 Watchfolder will moni-
tor incoming files, so you know whenever new footage is added. Focus Media Import also
enables you to import video files directly from the FS-100 to the PX-1 with ease.

The PX-1 supports a wide range of high- and standard-definition video formats and file
types, providing the flexibility that your production requirements demand.

Camera and Custom-Defined Metadata
The PX-1 displays the metadata that your camera provides and allows you to add numerous
custom fields. With its rich timecode-based metadata, the PX-1 enables you to categorize,
track, search, and find clips—with amazing speed.
Projects and Containers
The PX-1 uses projects and containers to organize and store media and related files. When
you import media, you can either create a new project or assign it to an existing project.
Projects can also have subfolders, allowing you to organize files within a project. Media
can be assigned to projects based on metadata. As a result, the same video clips can be
shared by multiple projects for efficient storage.
Retrieve Content Instantly
Search
With the PX-1 and its rich metadata capabilities, you’ll no longer have to thumb through
tapes and DVDs on your shelves, go through folders on your hard disks, or fast-forward
through hours of footage trying to find the exact clip that you need. Simply enter your
search criteria (Figure 4), and the PX-1 will display the clips that meet your requirements
(Figure 5). It’s that easy.
Preview
The PX-1 protects your footage and conserves network bandwidth by generating low-res-
olution proxy video clips for preview. Previewing clips is extremely fast—including HD
video—making it easy to review and retrieve footage.
Protect Your Assets
To keep your media assets secure, PX-1 enables you to assign access rights to projects by
workgroup or individual user, ensuring that you maintain complete control over who can
access your footage and files.
Store Media Online or Offline
The PX-1 Production Media Server includes 1TB, 2TB, or 4TB of internal RAID 5 storage and
provides quick access to your digital media files over a network. If you need offline storage,
the optional LT03 tape drive makes it easy to store your media assets on cartridges.
