SPECIALFEATURES
1.YourFujicaAutoStrobo300Xisa high-power
series-circuitrycomputerflash(guidenumber
30).Itprovidesanoptionofthreeaperturesto
letyoufreelytakeautomaticflashpictures.For
example,ifyouwanttotakelong-rangeflash
shots,youcanusea largeapertureandshootat
upto11meters.Ifyouwanteverythinginyour
picturesharplyfocused,theaperturecanbe
stoppeddownasfarasf/11(withISO/ASA100
film).
2.Itisprovidedfortwin-lightbounceflash.Ifthe
flashheadistiltedforbouncedlighting,itauto-
maticallyconvertsintoa twinflashunithaving
amainlightanda sublight.Withthisflash,you
cantakeperfectbounce-lightpictureseverytime,
althoughthistypeofpicturesaregenerallycon-
sidereddifficulttotakewithflash.
3.UsedontheFujicaAX-5,AX-3,AX-1,orAZ-1,
itwillautomaticallyswitchthecamera'sshutter
speedto1/60-sec.assoonasitisfullycharged.
Sinceyoucanchecktheflashcharge-upwhile
lookingthroughtheviewfinder,youwillnotlose
anyshootingopportunities.

teryefficiency.Trytokeep
thebatterieswarmincold
weatherbycarryingthemin
yourcoatpocketuntilthey
areneeded.
•Iftheflashisnotbeingused
fora longinterval,removethe
batteriesbeforeputtingit
awaybecauseoldbatteriescan
developleaksanddamageit.
Howtoloadthebatteries
1.RemovetheBatteryCompart-
mentCoverbypullingitoutin
thedirectionofthearrow.
2.Insertfourbatteries,plus(+)
andminus(-)endscorrectly
asillustratedintheBattery
Compartment,thenreplace
thecoverbyslidingitinuntil
itlocks.

3.TurnontheMainSwitch.If
theredFlashReadyLamp
(locatedinthecenterofthe
FlashGuideDisk)turnsonin
afewseconds,thebatteriesare
properlyloaded.
4.Aftercheckingthebatteries,
besuretoturnofftheMain
Switch.
Note:IftheMainSwitchisleft
on,thebatterieswillbeexhausted
ina shorttimeeveniftheflashis
notdischarged.
•Batterylife
•Onmanualflash,a newsetof
alkaline-manganesebatteries
willprovideabout150flashes
butitisalwaysbesttochange
themassoonastheystartto
showwear.Iftherecycletime
lagsto30-secondormore,the
batteriesshouldbeconsidered
exhausted.
•Besuretochangethefourbat-
teriesallatonceandmake
sureallfourareofthesame
brandandarenew.
•Afteryouarethroughtaking
pictures,alwaysturntheMain
Switchofftosavebattery.

shoe.Makesurethefootgoes
allthewayinbecausetheflash
mightnotfunctionproperlyif
itisonlypartofthewayin.

theWheelLockbyturningit
counterclockwisethengripthe

FujicaAZ-1,thecamera's

case,rotatetheflashheadupward
sothatitisindirectlyilluminated
bythelightreflectedfromthe
ceiling.Thelightingwillthusbe
softandshadowscanbepractical-
lycontrolled.Thisiscalled
"bounceflash."

Theilluminationanglewillthus
covertheviewangleofa 28mm
lens(53°vertical,70°horizontal).
Sincetheuseofthewideangle
adapterresultsina lossoflight,
refertothefollowinginstructions
tosettheexposure.

300Xawayfromthecameraby
meansofthePCsynchrocord
supplied.Whenemployedinthis
way,alwaysensurethatthetotal
flash-to-subjectdistanceistaken
intoaccount,orunder-exposure
willresult.
Alsoensurethattheflashunitis
held"square"tothecamera,i.e.
donotallowtheflashtoface
awayfroma reflectingsurface.
