FinePix F700
The sensor used in the FinePix F700 is a 4th generation Super CCD SR. Compared to previous generations,
this chip offers four times the dynamic range for displaying pictures. This is possible because 3.1 million
larger, highly light-sensitive S-pixels are responsible for the darker parts of the picture, and an additional 3.1
million smaller R-pixels capture the brighter regions. The information provided by these two sensor elements
is then combined. The FinePix F700 has a fine metal housing with a panoramic format reminiscent of a
normal rangefinder camera. The 6.2 megapixel effective resolution (3.1 million S-pixels plus 3.1 million
R-pixels) creates high-resolution pictures with a total of 2,832 x 2,128 (6.03 million) pixels. In addition to
continuous autofocus and a multitude of manual settings, the camera also offers a variety of video functions,
a significant decrease in shutter release time, and a 1.2 second start time, the lowest among currently
available compact cameras.
