CHOOSINGYOUR ALPINIST+ CLIMBING SKINS
ALPINIST+ climbing skins are designed to fit right out of the box. No more
trimming to length or installing tip loops.
There are four different ALPINIST+ skin lengths; each length will fit a range of
skis. Consult the size chart on the packaging to determine which skin length
matches the length of your ski.
To determine the ALPINIST+ skin width you require, refer to the Shaped vs
Straight information below.
SHAPED OR STRAIGHT
There are two schools of thought on the selection and fit of G3 Climbing
Skins, shaped and straight.
SHAPED You can get maximum skin coverage by choosing a skin that is
slightly narrower than the widest part of your ski, and trimming the skin to
the sidecut / shape of your ski, as described in the skin instructions. The extra
work required to trim will more than make up for itself with the superior grip
of a skin with edge to edge coverage. Choose a skin that covers your ski
base edge to edge about 25cm (10in) back from the ski tip.
For example, if the dimensions of your skis are 133/102/120, a pair of 130mm
skins will do nicely.
STRAIGHT To avoid trimming, choose a skin to fit the narrowest part of your
ski. This set-up is lighter, glides better and eliminates the possibility of
contaminating exposed glue when storing skins. Straight skins are also easier
to fold for packing and storage.
For example, if the dimensions of your skis are 133/102/120, a pair of 100mm
skins will do the trick.
Each pair of G3 Climbing Skins is equipped with a G3 Trim Tool and specific
instructions for fitting your skis. This trim tool will trim the urethane tip as well
as the skin fabric.
SKINTRIMMING
Your ALPINIST+ climbing skins come with a G3 Trim Tool specifically designed
for trimming both the urethane tip and the fabric. Do not use any older trim tool
to trim your ALPINIST+ tip. It is best to trim your skins at room temperature as
the urethane becomes more difficult to trim in the cold.
1 Remove release liner (1).
2 Attach and adjust tail clip for length. Lift the rubber skin tail off the tooth of the
tail clip base and push excess tail through the back until you reach the desired
hole. Then pull the excess tail back through the other side of the tail clip base
and secure it with the other tooth. The tail clip should cam onto the ski tail
easily. It is not necessary to tension the skin too tight. Skin fabric should be a
minimum of approximately 5cm (2in) from ski tail (2).
3 Make sure the skin is centered on ski base then trim skin fabric and urethane
tip by following ski edge with G3 skin trim tool (3).Trim from tail to tip for best
results. While trimming, take care to keep the trim tool firmly held against the
ski edge. This will produce a trim with a consistent offset from the edge.
4 Perform a second pass on the tip in any direction to remove burrs.
5 Check that the cut edge of the urethane tip is cleanly cut. If necessary, you can
clean it up with another trim tool pass starting from the tip towards the tail (4).
6 Repeat steps 3, 4, & 5 on both edges of ski without repositioning skin.
7 Skin should be trimmed precisely to reveal both ski edges (5).
CARE AND STORAGE
Your skin glue is sacred – keep it clean. When removing your skins don’t drop
them in snow, pine needles or on dusty floors. Dirt and lint from fabrics will
stick to your skin glue and weaken its hold.
If possible, dry both sides of your skins daily. Be careful not to expose them
to direct sunlight or sources of heat like fires and stoves. If hanging them in a
mountain hut’s common drying area, hang them carefully and securely, so that
other items like wool socks and gloves do not come into contact with the glue.
When the skins are being dried or stored without skin savers, we recommend
storing them glue to glue, rather than leaving the glue exposed to air.
Do not expose your skins to temperatures above normal room temperature
(22C/72F), or expose them to direct sunlight.
Freshly waxed skis must be well scraped and brushed. Any loose wax will
contaminate your skins’ glue.
Do not put your skins on your skis the night before you ski; apply them at
the trailhead. Do not put your skins on at home.

Do not store your skins on your skis.
For any longer-term storage we strongly recommend using G3 Skin Savers,
included with your skins.These storage sheets sandwich between the adhesive
sides of your folded skins, making your skins much easier to handle and pull apart
after they have been stored for a length of time. Use them!
Cut the G3 Skin Saver in half and adhere each piece to the bottom half of each
skin. Fold the tip end of the skin back onto the G3 Skin Saver so that a single layer
of the Skin Saver is sandwiched between the two halves of the skin.
With the G3 Skin Savers in place between the skins’ adhesive sides, you can fold
your skins and put them in the storage wallet.
NOTE: Skin Savers are not intended for use in the field.
ALWAYS store your fully dried skins in a cool, dry place.

CHOISIR VOS PEAUX ALPINIST+
Les peaux de phoques ALPINIST+ sont prêtes à l’emploi. Plus besoin de les
tailler, ni d’installer de fixations.
Il y a 3 longueurs de peaux de phoques ALPINIST+. Chaque longueur peut
s’adapter sur plusieurs gamme de ski. Consulter la grille des tailles afin de
déterminer quelle longueur de peaux correspond à votre longueur de ski.
Pour choisir la largeur de peaux ALPINIST+ dont vous avez besoin, consulter la
rubrique ci-dessous “Paraboliques ou Droites”.
FORME PARABOLIQUE OU FORME DROITE
Il y a deux écoles pour le choix et la coupe des peaux de phoques G3 – la forme
paraboliques et droite.
FORME PARABOLIQUE – La peau suit la forme du ski. Il faut taillée la peau sel-
on la courbure du ski. La méthode est expliquée dans le mode d’emploi fourni
avec les peaux. Le travaille supplémentaire que la taille de la peau engendre, est
récompensé par une meilleure tenue et une couverture entière de la semelle
du ski. Choisir une peau qui couvre toute la semelle, de carre à carre, en partant
d’environ 25cm (10in) du sommet de la spatule.
Par exemple: si les cottes du ski font 133/102/120, le choix idéal serait une paire
de peaux en 130mm.
FORME DROITE – Pour éviter de tailler, choisir une peau qui couvre la partie la
plus étroite du ski. Ce choix permet un gain de poids, offre une meilleure glisse
et supprime la possibilité d’endommager la colle exposée lors du stockage des
peaux. Des peaux droites sont également plus facile à plier pour un meilleur
rangement et stockage.
Par exemple: si les cottes du ski font 133/102/120, une paire de peaux en
100mm suffirait.
Chaque paire de peaux de phoque G3 est livrée avec un outil G3 Trim Tool (un
outils qui permet de tailler les peaux) ainsi qu’un mode d’emploi précis qui ex-
plique comment ajuster les peaux sur les skis. Cet outils permet non seulement
de tailler la peau G3 ALPINIST+, mais aussi la spatule en plastique.
TAILLER LES PEAUX
Vos peaux de phoques ALPINIST+ sont livrées avec un G3 trim tool, un outils
destiné à tailler la spatule en uréthane et la peau. N’utiliser aucun autre outils
pour tailler la spatule des peaux ALPINIST+.
1. Enlever le film de protection (1).
2. Attacher et ajuster le clip sur le talon du ski pour déterminer la bonne
longueur. Le clip du talon devrait se fixer facilement sur le talon du ski. Il n’est
pas nécessaire de trop tendre la peau. La peau doit se trouver à une distance
minimum d’environ 5cm (2in) du talon du ski (2).
3. Bien vérifier que la peau est centrée sur la semelle du ski. Tailler la peau et la
spatule en suivant les carres du ski avec l’outils G3 skin trim tool (3). Découper
en partant du talon vers la spatule pour avoir un meilleur résultat.
4. En taillant, prenez bien soin de garder l’outils G3 skin trim tool en contact
avec la carre du ski avec un appui constant. Ceci permettra une taille avec une
distance homogène entre la peau et la carre du ski.
5. Vérifier que la spatule plastique qui a été taillée est lisse. Si besoin, repasser
dessus avec l’outils G3 skin trim tool, en partant de la spatule vers le talon (4).
6. Répéter les étapes 3, 4 et 5 sur les deux carres du ski, sans repositioner la
peau.
7. La peau devrait être taillée avec précision pour laisser les deux carres de ski
apparentes (5).
ENTRETIEN ET STOCKAGE
La colle de votre peau est sacrée – gardez-la propre! En décollant vos peaux,
pensez à ne pas les faire tomber dans la neige, sur les épines de pin ou sur des
surfaces poussièreuses. Les saletés et les fibres de différentes matières ris-
quent de coller sur vos peaux, ce qui a une incidence sur la qualité d’adhésion.
Si possible, faire secher les deux côtés de vos peaux lors de chaque utilisation.
Attention à ne pas mettre les peaux en contact direct avec le soleil ou des
sources de chaleur telles qu’un feu ou un poêle. Si vous faites sécher vos
peaux dans un refuge de montagne, en séchoir, pensez à les étendre avec
soins, en sécurité, pour éviter que la colle rentre en contact avec des matières
comme des chaussettes en laine et des gants. Quand les peaux sont séchées
ou stockées sans les filets de protection, nous vous conseillons de les coller
semelle contre semelle, pour éviter que la colle reste en contact avec l’air.

TAILLIERT ODER GERADE
Bei Auswahl und Anpassung von G3 Steigfellen gibt es zwei Glaubensrichtun-
gen: die taillierte und die gerade Option.
TAILLIERT Die optimale Fellabdeckung erzielen Sie mit einem Fell, das etwas
schmäler als die breitesten Stellen Ihres Skis ist. Dann können Sie das Fell der
Taillierung Ihres Skis anpassen, indem Sie die Seiten der Anleitung folgend zus-
chneiden. Die zusätzliche Arbeit, die beim seitlichen Zuschneiden anfällt, zahlt
sich wirklich aus: Somit haben Sie einen Ski, der mit einem Fell, das von Kante
zu Kante reicht, optimalen Halt bietet. Wählen Sie ein Fell aus, das den Skibelag
ca. 25 cm unterhalb der Skispitze von Kante zu Kante abdeckt. Wenn Sie also
beispielsweise einen Ski mit einer 133/102/120Taillierung haben, passt ein 130
mm Fell perfekt.
GERADE Wenn Sie das Zuschneiden vermeiden wollen, wählen Sie ein Fell, das
der schmälsten Stelle des Skis entspricht. Diese Option ist leichter, gleitet bess-
er und man läuft nicht Gefahr, dass hervorstehende Abschnitte der Klebeschicht
beim Lagern der Felle verunreinigt werden. Beim Packen oder Lagern sind
gerade Felle auch einfacher zu falten. Wenn Sie beispielsweise einen Ski mit
einer 133/102/120 Taillierung haben, passen 100mm Felle wunderbar.
Jedem Paar der G3 Felle mit und ohne Endbeschlag liegt ein G3 Zuschneider
(das G3 „Trim Tool“) sowie eine spezielle Anleitung für die Anpassung an Ihre Ski
bei. Das Trim Tool funktioniert sowohl zum Zuschnitt des Fellmaterials, wie auch
zum Zuschnitt des ALPINIST+ Kunststoffteils.
ZUSCHNEIDEN DER BREITE FELL ANPASSUNG
Ihr ALPINIST+ Skin wird mit einem SCHWARZEN G3 Trim Tool ausgeliefert;
dieses ist spezifisch für den Zuschnitt sowohl des klassischen Fellmaterials, wie
auch der Kunststoffspitze entwickelt. Verwenden sie keinen anderen Zuschnei-
der zum Zuschnitt der ALPINIST+ Kunststoffspitze.
1 Entfernen Sie die Plastikfolie (1).
2 Positionieren Sie das Tail Clip für die Längeneinstellung. Das Tail Clip wird ganz
leicht auf das Skiende montiert. Es ist nicht notwendig das Fell sehr stark zu
spannen; der Abstand Fellende zu Skiende soll min. 5cm betragen.(2)
3 Fell zentriert aufkleben und in der Folge mit dem mitgelieferten Trimmtool der
Kante entlang schneiden. Schneiden sie sowohl das Fellmaterial, wie auch die
Kunststoffspitze auf diese Weise zu. (3)
4 Wiederholen Sie diesen Vorgang auf der anderen Seite; es ist nicht notwendig
das Fell dabei zu verrücken.(4)
5 Das Fell ist optimal zugeschnitten, wenn auf beiden Seiten des Skis die Kante
sichtbar ist.(5)
PFLEGE UND LAGERUNG
Der Kleber des Fells ist heilig – also: sauber halten! Wenn Sie Ihre Felle ent-
fernen, achten Sie darauf, dass sie nicht mit Schnee, Baumnadeln oder Schmutz
in Kontakt kommen. Schmutz und Fussel von Kleidung bleiben an der Klebe-
seite haften und beeinträchtigen somit die Klebefähigkeit. Trocknen Sie wenn
möglich jeden Tag beide Seiten des Fells. Achten Sie darauf, dass Sie nicht direk-
tem Sonnenlicht oder Wärmequellen wie Feuer oder Öfen ausgesetzt werden.
Wenn Sie die Felle in einem der üblichen Trockenräume in einer Berghütte
lagern, achten Sie darauf, dass sie sorgsam und geschützt hängen, d.h. dass an-
dere Gegenstände wie Wollsocken und Handschuhe nicht mit der Klebeseite in
Berührung kommen. Achten Sie darauf, dass Ihre Felle nicht Temperaturen über
der normalen Zimmertemperatur (22°C) oder direktem Sonnenlicht ausgesetzt
werden. Frisch gewachste Ski müssen gründlich abgezogen werden. Loses
Wachs verschmutzt die Klebeflächen. Kleben Sie die Felle nicht schon die Nacht
zuvor auf Ihre Ski; befestigen Sie sie erst zu Beginn derTour.
Lassen Sie die Felle für die Lagerung niemals auf den Skiern. Für eine Lang-
zeitlagerung empfehlen wir, den beiliegenden G3 Fellschutz zu benutzen. Diese
Lagerungsnetze werden zwischen die Klebeseite der gefalteten Felle gelegt. So
ist es viel einfacher, die Felle nach längerer Lagerzeit auseinanderzufalten und
wieder einzusetzen. Benutzen Sie es also! Schneiden Sie den G3 Fellschutz
in zwei Hälften und kleben Sie jeweils eine Hälfte auf die Unterseite eines
Fells. Falten Sie die Spitze des Fells auf den G3 Fellschutz um, so dass eine
Netzschicht zwischen den beiden Fellhälften liegt. Liegt nun der G3 Fellschutz

Ne pas stocker vos peaux sur vos skis.
Pour tout stockage de longue durée, il est fortement conseillé d’utiliser les
protections G3 Skin Savers, livrés avec vos peaux. Ces protections se collent
sur les semelles de vos peaux et permettent de les plier en deux, comme un
sandwich. Ceci permet de manipuler plus facilement après un stockage de
longue durée. Utilisez-les!
Couper la protection G3 Skin Saver en deux et placer chaque bande sur la partie
inférieure de chaque peau. Plier la partie supérieure de la peau sur la spatule de
la protection G3 Skin Saver afin de garder une seule couche de protection en
sandwich entre les deux demies parties de la peau.
Une fois que les protections G3 Skin Savers sont placées sur la partie adhésive
de la peau, il est possible de plier vos peaux et de les ranger dans leur housse
de protection.
VEUILLEZ NOTER: Les protections ne sont pas prévues pour une utilisation sur
le terrain.
Toujours stocker vos peaux quand elles sont entièrement sèches dans un
endroit frais et sec.
