• The fiberglass insulation in self-clem_ ovens
gives off a very small amount of carbon

Exposure can be minimized by venting with
an open window or using a ventilation tim
or hood,
•Gas applim_ces can cause minor exposure
to four of these substances, nalnelv benzene,
carbon monoxide, formaldehyde and soot,
caused primarily by the incomplete
combustion of natural gas or I,P filels.
Properly a(!justed burners, indicated by
a bhfish rather than a yellow flame, will
minimize incomplete combustion. Exposure
to these substances can be minimized bv
venting with an open window or using a

SAbF,TY PRE CA UTIONS
When using your appliance, follow basic safety
precautions, including the following:
• Have the installer show you the location of
the rmage gas shut-off valve and how to turn
it off if necessary.
•Be sure all pacMng materials axe removed
from the range befiwe operating it to prevent
fire or smoke damage should the packing
material ignite.
• After prolonged use of a rmage, high floor
temperatures may result and many floor
coverings will not withstm_d this kind of use.
Never install the range over vinyl tile or
linolemn that cannot withstand such use.
Never install it directly over interior kitchen
caq)eting.
•Locate the rmage out of kitchen traffic path
and out of drafty locations and areas with
poor air circulation.
AWARNIN G:
All ranges can tip mad injury
could result. To prevent
accidental tipping of the range,
attach it to the wall by installing
the Anti-Tip device supplied.
To check if the device is
installed and engaged properly,
careflflly tip the range torward.
The Anti-Tip device should
engage and prevent the range
fl'om tii)ping over.
If w)u pull the range out fl'om the wall fin.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
SAFE T Y PPd,2,CA UTI ONS
•Do not use water on grease fires. Never
pick up a flaming pm_. Turn the controls
off. Smother a flaming pan on a surtace
unit by covering the pan completely with
a well-fitting lid, cookie sheet or flat tray:
Use a multi-purpose dry chemical or
ti)am-type fire extinguisher.
Flaming grease outside a pan can be put
out by covering it with baking soda oi;
if available, by using a multi-purpose dry
chemical or flmm-type fire extinguisher.
Flame in the oven can be smothered
completely by closing the oven door and
turning the oven off or by using a multi-
purpose dry chemical or ti_am-Upe fire
extinguisher.
• DO NOT STORE OR USE COMBUSTIBLE
MATERIALS, GASOLINE OR OTHER
FLAMMABLE VAPORS AND LIQUIDS IN
THE VICINITY OF THIS OR ANY OTHER
APPLIANCE.
• Do not let cooMng grease or other flmmnable
materials accumulate in or near the range.
Clema drip trays mid liners after every use.
• If you smell gas, the installer has not done a
proper job of checking tot leaks. You can have
a small leak and therefi_re a taint gas smell if
the connections are not completely fight.
Finding a gas leak is NOT a do-it-yourself
procedure. Some leaks can only be timnd
with the burner control in the ON position
and fin" wmr protection it must be done bv
a qualified selwice technician. Never use an
open flame to locate a leak.
• If by some chmlce a burner goes out and
gas escapes, open a window or a door to
let the room air out. Do not attempt to use
the appliance tmtil the gas has had time
to dissipate. Follow the instructions in
"What to do if You Smell Gas" on page 2.
• Do not use almninmn foil to line any part of
the oven or cooktop. Using a loft liner could
result in a fire hazard or the obstluction of
the flow of combustion and ventilation air.
Foil is an excellent heat insulator and heat
will be trapped tmderneath it. This trapped
heat can upset the cooking performance and
can damage the finish of the oven or the
cooktop.
SURFA (;1,2COOKING
•Do not heat unopened food containers;
a build-up of pressure may cause the
COlltailler to b/llNt.
•Set the burner control so that the flmne
heats only the bottom of the pml and does
not extend bevond the bottom of the pan.
Excessive flame is hazardous. The high BTU
burnei_ can easily melt cookware handles.
• Hold the hmadle of the pan, using a dry pot
holder, to prevent movement of the utensil
when stirring or tm'ning tood.
•Always heat fat slowly, and watch as it heats.
•Always use the LITE position when igniting
the surface burners and make sure the
burnei_ have ignited.
• Never leave the surface burners unattended
at high flame settings. Boilovers cause
smoking and greasy spillovers that may catch
on fire. If the burner flames are smothered
by a severe boilover which afl'ects the ignitor,
unburned gas will escape into the room.
• Do not let pot holders come near open
flames when rifting cookware. Do not use
a towel or other bulky cloth in place of a
pot holder.
• To minimize the possibility of burns, ignition
of flammable materials and spillage, turn
cookware handles toward the side or back of
the range without extending over ac!jacent
b/IYIleI3.
•Never block the vents (air opmtings) of the
rmage. They provide the air inlet and outlet
that are necessai T fl)r the range to operate
properly with correct combustion. Air
openings are located at the top and bottom
of the oven door, in the fl'ont portion of the
drip tray and at the bottom of the backguard.

•Foods for frying should be as dry as
possible. Frost on fl'ozen foods or n_oisture
on fl'esh fl_ods can cause hot fat to bubble
up and over the sides of the pail
•Use the least possible amount of fat for
effective shallow or deep fat frying, Filling
the pan too full of fat can cause sl)illovers

•Use adeep fat thermometer whenever
possible to i)revent overheating tat bevond

• Do not leave may items on the cooktop.
The hot air fl'om the vent may ignite
flanlnlable itelns and will increase l)ressure
in closed containers, which inav cause theln

•Use proper pma size--avoid pans that are
unstable or easily tipped. Select cookware
having fiat bottoms large enough to l)rol)erly
contain tood and awfid boilovers and
sl)illovers and large enough to cover burner
grate. This will both save cleaning time and
l)revent hazardous aCCtli/ltllations of too(l,
since heavy spattering or spillovers left on the
range can ignite. Use pans with handles that
can be easily grasped and renmin cool.
•Keep all plastics away from the top burners.
• Do not leave plastic items on the cooktop--

• For proper lighting mad performance of the
cooktop burners, keep the burner ports
clean. It may be necessary to clean these
when there is a boilover or when the burner
does not light, even though the electronic
ignitors click.
•After clemfing, it is important to make sure
the cap and burner port are properly aligned
with the burner base. Incorrect alignlnelat
will produce poor burner l)erlorn/ance.
Never operate the burner without all burner
parts in place.
•Clean the cooktop with caution. Avoid steatn
burns; do not use a wet sponge or cloth
to clean the cooktop while it is hot. Solne
cleaners produce noxious flunes if applied
to a hot surthce. Follow iualmfi_cturer's
directions.
• Do not use the grill for cooking excessively
fatty meats or products which promote
flare-up.
•If rmlge is located near a window, do not
hang long curtains that could blow over the
surtace burners and create a fire hazard.
•Be sure all the range mad/or cooktop
