Before You Throw Away Your Old

Refrigerants
All refrigeration products contain refrigerants,
which under federal law must be removed prior
to product disposal. If gou are getting rid of an
old refrigeration product, check with the compang
handling the disposal about what to do.
USEOF EBNSION CORDS
Because of potential safety hazards under certain conditions, we strongly recommend against the use
of an extension cord.
However,if gou must usean extension cord, it isabsolutelg necessargthat it be a UL-listed(inthe United

How it Works

How it Works
The new ClimateKeeper2'" isthe industry's
most advanced refrigeration system,
deliveringoptimum temperature and
humidity performance to keepfood
garden fresh longer and reduce freezer
burn,while maintaining Estar-level efficiency.
The new ClimateKeeper2 system features
two evaporators--one for the refrigerator
and one for the freezer.
Thisprovides two separate cooling systems
for the entire unit, and separates the airflow
between the fresh food and freezer sections
during normal cooling operations.
Thisensuresthat the humidity levelsin the
fresh food section ore significantly higher
than in a conventional system,* allowing
fresh produce and other unsealedfoods to
retain their moisture content and freshness
longer.Moisture sensitivefoods such asfresh
fruit, salads,rice,etc.,can now be stored on
open shelveswithout excessivemoisture loss.
Dueto the higher humidity in the refrigerator,
you may on occasion experiencefog or small

come and go as different food loads

Wipe dry with a paper towel if desired.
Theseparate airflow system minimizes
the mixing of air between the two
compartments, which reduces odor
transfer to improve the taste of ice.

the number of defrosting cycles in the freezer

How to Remove and Replace the Drawer
To remove: 0 Lockall four swing locks by rotating them
Pullthe drawer out to the stop position, to the lock position.
0 Rotate all four swing locks to the unlock
position.
Liftthe front of the drawer up and out.
To replace:
O Hake sure allfour swing locks are in
the unlock position.
Placethe sidesof the drawer into
the drawer supports, making sure
the swing locksfit on the drawer slots.

Water Filter Cartridge
The water filter cartridge is located in the back upper right
corner of the refrigerator compartment.
When to Replace the Niter on Models With
a Replacement Indicator Light
There is a replacement indicator light for the water filter
cartridge on the dispenser. This light willturn orange to tell
gou that gou need to replace the filter soon.
Thefilter cartridge should be replacedwhen the replacement
indicator light turns red or ifthe flow of water to the dispenser
or icemaker decreases.
When to Replace the Niter on Models Without
a Replacement Indicator Light
The filter cartridge should be replaced everg six months or
earlier ifthe flow of water to the water dispenser or icemaker
decreases.
Removing the Filter Cartridge
Ifgou are replacing the cartridge, first remove the old one
bg slowlg turning it to the left. Do not pull down on the
cartridge. Asmall amount of water Tag drip down.
Installing the Filter Cartridge
0 If you are replacing a SmartWater cartridge with
an adapter, it must be removed before installingthe
cartridge. To remove the adapter, turn itto the left
about 1/4 turn.
If gou are replacing a Water byCulligancartridge,
leavethe adapter in place.Thisadapter will stag in
the refrigerator when gou replace future cartridges.

0 On models without a replacement indicator light, applg
the month and gear sticker to the new cartridge to
remind gou to replacethe filter in six months.
O Fillthe replacement cartridge with water from the tap to
allow for better flow from the dispenser immediatelg after
installation.
Lineup the arrow on the cartridge and the cartridge
holder. Placethe top of the new cartridge up inside
the holder.Do not push it up into the holder.
Slowlgturn it to the right untilthe filter cartridge stops.
DONOTOVERTIGHTEN.Asgou turn the cartridge, itwill
automaticallg raiseitself into position.Thecartridge will
move about 1/2 turn.

1-1/2 gallons)to clearthe sgstem and prevent sputtering,
Pressand hold the WATERFILTERpad (onsome models)

water to spurt from the dispenser.
Filter Bypass Plug
You must use the filter bgpass plug when a replacement filter
cartridge isnot available. Thedispenserand the icemakerwill
not operate without the filter or filter bgpass plug.

of the bin in the molded supports on the

Binwill lock in place.
Small Bins
Toremove: Lift the front of the bin straight up
then out.
Toreplace: Positionthe bin above the
rectangular molded supports on the door.
Thenslidethe bin down onto the support
to lock it in place.
Thesnugger helps prevent tipping, spilling
or sliding of small items stored on the door
shelf.Placea finger on either sideof the
snugger near the rear and move it back
and forth to fit gout needs.
Top freezer bin CAUTION:

Slide-Out Spillproof Shelf
Theslide-out spillproof shelf allows gou
to reach items stored behind others.
Thespecial edges are designed to help

To remove:
Slidethe shelf out until it reachesthe stop,
then press down on the tab and slide
the shelf straight out.
Toreplace or relocate:
Linethe shelf up with the supports and slide
it into place.The shelf can be repositioned
when the door isat 90° or more. To reposition
the shelf,slidethe shelf past the stops and
angle downward. Slideshelf down to the
desiredposition, line up with the supports
and slideinto place.
Make sure you push the shelves all the way
back in before you close the door.

This shelfsplits in half and slides under itself
for storage of toll items on the shelf below.

Toremove, push the basket all the WaLlto
the back ofthe freezer. Lift up until the back
pinsore disengaged. Liftthe entire basket
up and pullout.
Make sure you push the baskets all the way
back in before you close the door.
Slide-Out Freezer Shelves
Toremove, slideout to the stop position,
lift the front past the stop position and
slideout.
Make sure you push the shelves all the way
back in before you close the door.
Fixed Freezer Shelves
There are two tLlpes offixed freezer shelves.
To remove this type of shelf:
Liftthe shelf up at the left side.
0 Bring the shelf out.
To remove this type of shelf:
Liftup the left side of the shelf and slide it
left into the center of the shelf supports.
Rotate the right side of the shelf up
and out of the shelf supports.
NOTEFORDISPENSERNODELS:In order to
take full advantage of thetilt-out icebin, only
store itemson theshelf below the icebin that
are no toiler than the lowest point on thebin.
Door Wine/Beverage Rack fan some models)
This rack holds up to 5 cans or one bottle
of wine.
The rock hangs from the sides
of the dairLlbin.
Toremove:
EmptLlthe wine/beverage rack.
Holding the bottom of the dairLlbin,
lift the front straight up,then lift up
and out.
0 To detach the rack from the dairLlbin,
pull the rack'ssidewires out ofthe holes
on each side of the dairLlbin.
To replace:
Reattachthe rack to the sides of the bin.
Engagethe back sideof the bin in
the molded supports on the door.
Thenpush down on the front of
the bin.Thebin will lock into place.

About the refrigerator doors.
Refrigerator Doors
The refrigerator doors mug feel different than
the ones gou are usedto. Thespecial door
opening/closing feature makessure the
doors closeoil the wag and ore securelg
sealed.
When opening and closing the door gou will
notice a stop position.If the door is opened
past this stop point, the door will remain
open to allow gou to load and unload food
more easilg.When the door isonlg partiallg
open,it will automaticallg close.
Theresistance gou feel at the stop position
will be reduced as the door isloaded
with food.
When the door is only partially open,
it will automatically close.
Beyond this stop the door will
stay open.
Door Alignment
If doors are uneven, adjust
the refrigerator door.
O Usinga 7/16" wrench, turn the door
adjusting screw to the right to raisethe
door,to the left to lower it. (Anglon plug,
imbedded in the threads of the pin,
preventsthe pin from turning unless
a wrench isused.)
After one or two turns of the wrench,
open and closethe refrigerator door
and check the alignment at the top
of the doors.

Fruit and Vegetable Crispers
Excess water that mag accumulate inthe
bottom of the drawers should be wiped drg.
On some models, the bottom drawer has

Slidethe control all the wag to the HI setting
to provide high humiditg recommended for
most vegetables.

Convertible Deli Pun
Theconvertible deli pan has itsown cold
air duct to allow a stream of cold air from
the freezer compartment or fresh food
compartment to flow to the pan.
The variable temperature control regulates
the air flow from the Climate KeeperAir
Tower.
Setthe control to the coldest settingto store
fresh meats.
Setthe control to cold to convert the pan
to normal refrigerator temperature and
provide extra vegetable storage space.The
cold air duct isturned off. Variable settings
between these extremes can be selected.
About crisper removal.

Crisper Removal
Crisperscan eusilg be removed bg pulling
the drawer straight out and lifting the drawer
up and over the stop location.
If the door prevents gou from taking out
the drawers,first trg to remove the door
bins. Ifthis doesnot offer enough clearance,
the refrigerator will need to be rolledforward
until the door opens enough to slidethe
drawers out. Insome cases,when gou roll
the refrigerator out, gou will need to move
the refrigerator to the left or right as gou
roll it out.

About the automatic icemaker.
A newly installed refrigerator may take 22 to 24 hours to begin making ice.
On dispenser models,
to access ice or reach
the power switch:
OPull the bin forward until the
bin stops.

OLower the bin to access ice
or reach the power switch.
Automatic Icemaker
Theicemakerwill produce seven cubes
per cycle-approximatelg 100-130 cubes
in a 24-hour period,depending on freezer
compartment temperature, room
temperature, number of door openings
and other useconditions.
If the refrigerator isoperated beforethe
water connection ismade to the icemaker,
setthe power switch in the OFFposition.
Whenthe refrigerator hasbeen connected
to the water supplg,set the power switch
to the ON position.
Theicemakerwillfill with water when itcools
to !5°F (-!0°C).A newlginstalledrefrigerator
magtake 12to 24 hoursto begin making
icecubes.
Youwill hear a buzzingsound eachtime
the icemaker fills with water.
Throw uwag the first few batches of ice
to allow the water line to clear.
Besure nothing interfereswith the sweep
of the feelerarm.
Special note about dispenser models:
Dispensermodels have a tilt-out ice bin.
Thebin can be tilted out as shown in the
illustrations,and it will hold itselfup while
gou take iceout or turn the icemaker
power switch on and off. Besureto put the
bin back in place before closing the door.
To restore your ice level from an empty
bucket stage, the following steps are
recommended:
O 12 hours after the first butch of ice has
fallen into the bin,dispense 3 to 4 cubes.
O After an additional 6 hours,dispense
3 to z_cubes again.
These stepswill restore gout ice levelin
the shortest amount of time.
Whenthe bin fills to the levelof the feeler
arm, the icemakerwill stop producing ice. X
It isnormal for several cubes to bejoined Power-"
together, switch FeelerAim .................
If ice isnot usedfrequentlg, old ice cubeswill
become cloudg,taste stale and shrink.
Removing Ice Bin Idispenser models)
CAUTION:Theice binis heavy when full.
Setthe power switch to the OFFposition
before removing the bin.
When replacing the bin, be sureto press
it firmlg into place. If it doesnot go all the
wag back, remove it and rotate the drive
mechanism 1/4 turn. Thenpush the bin
back again.

Quick ice
Whenyou needicein a hurry,presstheQUICK
ICEpadtospeedup iceproduction.Thiswill
increaseiceproductionforthefollowing48 hours
or untilyoupressthepadagain.
Door Alarm
Tosetthealarm,presstheDOORALARMpaduntil
theindicatorlightcomeson.Thisalarmwillsound
ifeitherdoorisopenformorethan3minutes.
Thelightgoesoutandthebeepingstopswhen

Precise Fill

Dispenser drip area.
Cleaning the Outside
Thedispenser drip area, beneaththe grille,
shouldbewiped drg.Water left in this area
mag leavedeposits. Removethe deposits
bg adding undiluted vinegar to the well. Soak
until the deposits disappear or become loose
enough to rinse awag.
Thedispenser cradle. Beforecleaning,
lock the dispenser bg pressingand holding
the LOCKpad for 3 seconds.Cleanwith
warm water and baking soda solution-
about a tablespoon (15ml)of baking soda
to a quart (1liter)ofwater. Rinsethoroughlg
and wipe drg.
Thedoor handles and trim. Cleanwith
a cloth dampened with soapg water.
Drgwith a soft cloth.
Thestainless steel panels and door handles
(onsome models)can be cleaned with
a commerciallg availablestainless steel
cleaner.A sprag-on stainlesssteel cleaner
works best.
Do not useappliance wax or polish
on the stainlesssteel.
Keepthe outsideclean. Wipe with a
clean cloth lightlg dampened with kitchen
appliance wax or mild liquid dish detergent.
Drg and polishwith a clean, soft cloth.
Do not wipe the refrigerator with a soiled
dish cloth or wet towel. Thesemay leave
a residue that can erode the paint. Do not
use scouring pads, powdered cleaners,
bleach or cleaners containing bleach
because these products can scratch
and weaken the paint finish.
Cleaning the inside
Tohelp prevent odors, leavean open box
of baking soda in the fresh food and freezer
compartments.
Unplug the refrigerator before cleaning.
If this is not practical, wring excessmoisture
out of sponge or cloth when cleaning around
switches,lights or controls.
Usewarm water and baking soda solution-
about a tablespoon (15ml)of bakingsoda to
a quart (! liter)of water. This both cleans and
neutralizesodors. Rinseand wipe drg.
Useof any cleaning solution other than
that which is recommended, especially
those that contain petroleum distillates,
can crack or damage the interior of the
refrigerator.
Avoid cleaning cold glass shelves with hot
water because the extreme temperature
difference may cause them to break.
Handle glass shelves carefully. Bumping
tempered glass can cause it to shatter.
Do not wash any plastic refrigerator parts
in the dishwasher.
Thechill/thaw tray is dishwasher safe.

Behind the Refrigerator
Be careful when moving the refrigerator
awag from the wall. Alltgpes of floor
coveringscan be damaged, particularlg
cushioned coverings and those with
embossedsurfaces.
Pullthe refrigerator straight out and return
itto position bg pushing itstraight in. Moving
the refrigerator in a sidedirection mag result
in damage to the floor covering or
refrigerator.
When pushing the refrigerator back, make
sureyou don't roll over the power cord or
icemaker supply line.
Preparing for Vacation
For long vacations or absences, remove
food and unplug the refrigerator. Clean
the interior with a baking soda solution of
one tablespoon (!5 ml)of baking soda to one
quart (! liter)of water. Leave the doors open.
Setthe icemaker power switch to the OFF
position and shut off the water supplg to
the refrigerator.
If the temperature can drop belowfreezing,
have a qualified servicerdrain the water
supplg sgstem to prevent seriouspropertg
damage due to flooding.
Preparing to Move
Secure all loose items such as shelves and
drawers bg taping them securelg in place
to prevent damage.
When usinga hand truck to move the
refrigerator,do not rest the front or back
of the refrigerator against the hand truck.
Thiscould damage the refrigerator. Handle
onlg from the sidesof the refrigerator.
Be sure the refrigerator stays in an upright
position during moving.

Replacing the light bulbs,
Setting the controls to OFF does not remove power to the light circuit.
Reveal ®appliance bulbs are used on some models. They can be identified by their blue color when they
are not illuminated.
Not all features are on all models.
Your light shield will look like
one of the following:

Refrigerator Compartment--Upper Light
0 Unplug the refrigerator.
Thebulbs are located at the top of
the compartment, insidethe light shield.
On some models,a screw at the front
of the light shieldwill have to be
removed. On other models,
the screw islocated in the pocket
located at the back of the light shield.
0Toremove the light shield,on some
models,press in on the tabs on the sides
of the shieldand slideforward and out.
On other models,just slidethe shield
forward and out.
After replacing the bulb with an
appliance bulb of the same or lower
wattage, replacethe light shieldand
screws (onsome models).When
replacingthe light shield,make
sure that the tabs at the back
of the shieldfit into the slotsat
the back of the light shieldhousing.
Plugthe refrigerator back in.
Refrigerator Compartment--Lower Light
This light is located above the top drawer.
Unplugthe refrigerator.
Removethe convertible meat drawer
control knob by pulling straight out.
After replacing the bulb with an
appliance bulb of the same or lower
wattage, replacethe shieldand the knob.
Plug the refrigerator back in.
Liftthe light shieldup and pull it out.
Freezer Compartment
Unplugthe refrigerator.
0 Removethe shelfjust above the light
shield.(Theshelfwill be easierto remove
if it isemptied first.) On some models,
a screw at the top of the light shield
will need to be removed.
Toremove the light shield, pressin
on the sides,and lift up and out.
OReplace the bulb with an appliance
bulb of the same or lower wattage,
and reinstall the light shield. When
reinstalling the light shield, make sure
the top tabs snap securelg into place.
Replace the screw (on some models).
Reinstall the shelf and plug
the refrigerator back in.
Dispenser (on some models)
Unplugthe refrigerator.
Thebulb islocated on the dispenser
under the control panel. Removethe light
bulb bg turning it counterclockwise.
Replace the bulb with a bulb
of the same size and wattage.
Plug the refrigerator back in.

pre-cut block, white, bisque or stoinless steel decorotor ponds from GE Ports ond Accessories,
800.626.2002, or you con odd wood ponds to motch your kitchen cobinets.
Panels less than 1/4" (6 mm) thick
When installing wood panels less than 1/4" (6ram) thick, gou need to create a filler panel, such as 1/8"
cardboard, that willfit between the face of the door and the wood panel. Ifgou are installing the pre-cut
decorator panels, pre-cut filler panels are included in the kit.The combined thickness of the decorator
or wood panel and the filler panel should be 1/4" (6 ram).

These pieces are tucked inside the refrigerator
door handle.
Do not remove the protective film on the outside
of the Side Trim until the Side Trim is installed.
Fitthe bottom of the SideTrim under the Bottom Trim
as illustrated.
Holdthe SideTrim against the front face
ofthe decorator panelsand fit the SideTrim under
the TopTrim. Makesure the magnetically attached
SideTrim isfitted correctly and that you are satisfied
with the appearance of all the parts.
