1.4 Ordering spare parts
Spare parts are ordered exclusively through the
manufacturer/representative.
Only original GEDA spare parts may be used. Only original GEDA
spare parts guarantee full function as well as safety and reliability.
The use of non-approved spare parts releases GEDA from any liability
for damage arising as a consequence of any such use.

3 Tests
The following checks have been carried out before delivery:

•Opinion by TÜV SÜD to obtain EU operating license.
4 Images
The images used possibly only constitute schematic diagrams.
The fundamental function and operation are not affected by this.
5 Warnings
Activities associated with specific hazards (to life and limb or potential
damage to the machine) are indicated by warnings. The instructions
given in the warnings must be observed.

6 Safety information
This safety information must be read and observed by all persons who
are entrusted with work on the trailers or who supervise or instruct such
persons. Non-compliance with the safety information releases GEDA
from any liability.
6.1 Intended use
The described trailers are exclusively used for:

•Loading / unloading and transport of GEDA 200 Z / 300 Z 300 ZG.

•Loading / unloading and transport of GEDA 500 Z / 500 Z Duo / 500
Z/ZP / 300 Z/ZP / 300 Z.
Non-intended use, non-compliance with the manual, staffing by
insufficiently qualified personnel, and the use of non-approved spare
parts releases the manufacturer from any liability.
6.2 Limits of trailers
Trailers may only be used when complying with
•the technical data
•the max. permissible load capacity and max./min. support load
•the national regulations and registration rules for trailers in public
road traffic
•all other laws/regulations to be complied with by the operating
company.

6.3 Conversions / modifications
Unauthorised conversions / modifications may have an unforeseeable
influence on safety and result in the loss of the operating license.
For this reason, unauthorised conversions/modifications are prohibited.
They also include welding, grinding, flame-cutting and drilling tasks.

6.4 Hazardousness of trailers
The trailers have been designed and manufactured according to the
state of the art and subjected to safety check and final inspection before
delivery.
Nevertheless, personal hazards or material damage may result if
operated incorrectly, used improperly, used without due care and
attention, insufficient maintenance or if components fail.
•Detachment from tractor coupling.
•Detaching a wheel after initial operation or a wheel change.
Make sure to retighten the wheel nut after 20 – 100 km.
•Tipping during loading and unloading. Make sure the trailer is
sufficiently supported.
•Trailer topples over at excessive speed.
6.5 Other applicable documents
The following documents must be observed in addition to this manual:
•The EU operating license.
•The instructions of the overrun device and axle (AL-KO)
manufacturer.
If the product is sold or passed on, the documentation must be passed
on as well.
6.6 Warranty
This manual does not contain any warranty agreements. These can be
found in the General Terms and Conditions of Business. Proper use is
a precondition for the warranty.

7 Duties of the operating company
7.1 Duty to provide training/qualifications
The operating company clearly defines the responsibilities of the
personnel. The operating company is obliged to train all persons
authorised to use the trailer in the correct handling of the trailer before
using it for the first time, according to the respective area of activity and
responsibility and using practical exercises.
The minimum contents of the instruction include:
•Scope and limits of the tasks and area of responsibility of the
respective group of persons.
•Safety-conscious behaviour/avoiding dangers.
•Correct operation of the hoist.
Finally, the operating company must check that each person is capable
of operating the machine and trailer correctly and without assistance.
This training must be documented and repeated at regular intervals.
New personnel may only operate the trailer under the supervision and
instruction of experienced personnel.
7.2 Accessibility to necessary information
The operating company must make the manual required for the relevant
task available to all persons who are commissioned with operation,
servicing and maintenance.
7.3 Checking the correct condition and use
The operating company must check at regular intervals that the trailer is
used as intended, no modifications, manipulations or defects can be
detected, and the trailer is suitable for use in public road traffic because
of its condition.
7.4 Inspections
The operating company must have the inspections stipulated by
national law performed.

•Starting or operating the trailer without having read the manual
beforehand is prohibited. This manual shall be kept accessible for
future use.
•The trailer must be used with an awareness of hazards, in
a technically fault-free condition and according to the instructions in
this manual.
•Acquaint yourself with the way the trailer works, with the operating
controls and the safety gear.
•The stipulated operating steps and their sequence must be
adhered to.
•If there is any lack of clarity regarding proper condition or correct
operation, these points must be clarified. Operation is prohibited until
the matter is clarified.
•The operator is responsible to third parties in the working area.
•Unauthorised persons must be kept away.
•Rectify any faults that occur which fall within the context of your
responsibility.
•Inform your superior immediately if faults occur outside your area of
responsibility.
•The trailer must only be moved on foundations with a sufficient load
capacity.
•Use only suitable, non-combustible or aggressive cleaning agents.
•Do not use any steam jet cleaners / high-pressure cleaners to clean
electrical components; they may sustain damage.
•Do not touch electrical components with wet or damp hands.
•Work on electric components may only be carried out by qualified
electrical personnel.
•All tasks on electrical components must only be carried out using
insulated tools.
•Ensure through suitable measures that moving / detached parts are
blocked during work.
•Utilize new parts only according to the intended purpose and within
the specifications of the technical data.
•Check the parts for correct functioning after completion of work.
•Do not overload the trailer. Do not transport additional loads on the
trailer / in the lift.

•Do not transport machines with defective motor brake. Foot section
may lower during transport. Secure the foot section from lowering
using appropriate means if the motor brake is defective.
•Make sure that no hazards will arise as a result of operation, that is:

All safety equipment is present and fully functional
Lighting / reflectors
Brakes / warning notices / identification plates
Coupling ring, contact breaking cable
Tyres (tread / pressure)
Fastening / safety gear of the hoist
−
All connections are correctly made
−
The load is correctly secured
−
No parts are protruding into the travel path
−
No tools or other parts are on the trailer
−
Load capacity is observed
−
The min. / max. support load is observed.
−
If the parking brake is pulled, the trailer (Item No.: 01181) may still
roll backwards for approx. 25 cm until the max. braking force has
been reached. Make sure to remember this when positioning the
trailer.
−
Staying / riding along on the trailer is prohibited.
WARNING

Never stay behind or on the trailer during manoeuvring.
Have a second person assist with marshalling.

Accident from detaching wheel.
Retighten the wheel nuts crosswise with a torque
wrench after 20 - 100 km.

9.1 Preparing the trailer for loading / unloading
Pulling / releasing the parking brake9.1.1
Pulling the parking brake:
Hold the parking brake by the
handle.
The dead point can be
clearly felt.
Pull the parking brake strongly
beyond the dead point (1).
Releasing the parking brake:
Press and hold the locking
device knob.
Return the brake lever to the
starting position.
Adjusting the overrun device9.1.2
Pull out the spring cotter on
the immobilising handle.
Release the immobilising
handle.
Adjust the overrun device
toward the top / bottom.
Pull the immobilising handle
firmly by hand (blow with
rubber mallet, if necessary).
Secure with spring cotter.
Check the overrun device after approx. 50 km of travel and
retighten, if necessary.

Hooking up the contact breaking cable9.1.3
Make sure to follow the national
regulations for fastening the contact
breaking cable
Sling the contact breaking cable around
the neck of the ball.
Engage the hook connector on the cable.
Option 1:
Sling the hook connector through the eye
provided on the tractor.
Option 2:
Hook the hook connector on the cable.
Sling the contact breaking cable around
the neck of the cable through the eye
provided.
Engage the hook connector on the cable.
Option 3:
Place the contact breaking cable around
the neck of the ball and the clamping
bracket on the pulling device.
Hook the hook connector on the cable.

9.2 Transport of GEDA 500 Z, 500 Z Duo and 500 Z/ZP
A mast section must be mounted on the base mast to load or
unload the base unit.
Mounting a mast section onto the base mast. Refer to the machine
assembly manual.
Turn the key switch (1) of the
platform control to position 0.
Pull off the key and close the
platform control.
Plug the pendant control (2) into
the cable bin.
Turn key switch (3) to position I
(manual operation).
DANGER
Danger to life
Staying under the raised platform is prohibited.
Push the UP button (4). Move the platform upward until the trailer
can be placed under the platform.
Disassembly of protection grid underneath the hoist car
If transport platforms are equipped with protection grid
underneath the hoist car, it must be disassembled from the
platform for transport.
Remove the eye nuts (1) on both
forklift take-up points.
Unhook the springs on the
protection grid underneath the
hoist car (2).

Put the protection grid underneath
the hoist car aside.
Unhook the springs on the
protection grid underneath the
hoist car (3) on the opposite side.
Pay attention when mounting the protection grid underneath the
hoist car to the platform that the springs are hooked again into
the fifth lattice section (counting from the frame).
Unhook the protection grid
underneath the hoist car on both
hook connectors and remove it from
under the platform.
Align the trailer with the support wheel (5) horizontally.
Open the interlocking (6).
Pull out the locking pin (9) toward the rear and lock it.
Push the trailer under the platform and align it so that the platform
comes to rest exactly in both guides (7) and interlocking (6) of the
trailer after lowering it.

Secure the trailer by tightening the parking brake and putting the
wheel chocks underneath.
Press the DOWN (8) button until the platform rests on the trailer.
Close the interlocking (6) and
secure the transport platform with
the screw.
Release the locking pin (9) from the
locking device and close it.

Moving the foot section up
CAUTION
Damage of the trailer / foot section possible.
Release the DOWN (8) button immediately when the
foot section rests against the trailer.
Press the DOWN (8) button until the
foot section rests against the buffers
of the trailer.
Disconnect the electrical connection
of the transport platform.
Connect the trailer with the coupling
of the tractor.
Crank up the support wheel /
release the parking brake and
remove the wheel chocks.

Unloading the transport platform9.2.2
Lower the support wheel.
Pull the parking brake.
Detach the trailer from the tractor.
Release the parking brake.
Push the trailer to the set-up site.
Pull the parking brake and secure the trailer
in addition with wheel chocks.
Connect the transport
platform electrically.
Press the UP (4) button
on the pendant control
until the foot section rests
on the flooring.
Open the interlocking (6).
Pull out the locking pin (9) toward the
rear and lock it.
Press the UP (4) button until the
platform is positioned freely above
the trailer.
Remove the trailer and secure it
against rolling away.
Lower the platform by pressing the
DOWN (8) button.
