STANDARD BASIC LIMITED WARRANTY
ONRESIDENTIALGASWATERHEATERS
GENERAL
Themanufacturerwarrantsthat,subjecttoverificationofawarranty
claimwithinthewarrantyperiodasdescribedbelow,itwilltakethe
necessarycorrectiveactiontoeitherrepairorreplaceawaterheater
orcomponent part whichis determinedto be defective inmaterial
orworkmanshipsubjecttothetermsandconditionsoutlinedinthis
document.Further,anyreplacementwaterheaterorcomponentpart
suppliedunderwarrantywillcarryonlytheunexpiredportionofthe
originalwaterheater’swarranty.Thenumberofreplacementwater
heaters is limited to one (1) per original unit purchased. If due to
someextremelyunusualcircumstance,areplacementwaterheater
orcomponentpartisfoundbyourinspection&testingdepartment
tobedefective,anotherheaterorcomponentpartwillbesuppliedto
fulfilltheobligationofthewarrantyoftheoriginalheater.
THE INNER TANK
If the inner tank fails within *SIX (6) years after the date of the
originalinstallation,areplacement waterheaterwillbeprovided to
thepartyfromwhomtheunitwasoriginallypurchased.Ifthewater
heater is installed in other than a single family dwelling, the tank
warrantyis limitedtoONE(1) year.Ifanexact replacementisnot
available, the manufacturer reserves the right to furnish a compa-
rablemodelwaterheater;however,asurchargewillbeappliedfor
anyadditionalcomponent(s)incorporatedinthereplacementwater
heater.Thewarrantyreplycardmustbecompletedandsentbackto
themanufacturerwithinforty-five(45)daysoftheinstallationdate.If
saidwarrantycardisnotreturned,thedateindicatedonthemodel
serialplatewillprevail.
COMPONENT PARTS
Ifanycomponentpartisfoundtobedefectivewithin*ONE(1)year
fromthedateoforiginalinstallation,providedsaiddefectivepartis
anin-housefactorymadepieceoranoriginalfactoryapprovedOEM
piece, the manufacturer will furnish a replacement part after the
receiptandtestingofthepartclaimedtobedefective.
THIS WARRANTY WILL NOT APPLY
1) To defects or malfunctions resulting from failure to properly
install,operate,ormaintaintheunitinaccordancewiththeprint-
edinstructions.
2) IftheinstallationdoesnotconformtoCSA&/orETLStandards
aswellasanyapplicablenationalorlocalbuildingcodes.
3) Toanydamageorfailurecausedbyabuse,accident,fire,floods,
freezing,orotheractsofGod.
4) Toanydamageorfailurecausedbyoperatingtheheaterwithout
an approved pressure & temperature relief valve having been
installed.
5) Toanydamageorfailurecausedbyoperatingtheheaterwithan
emptyorpartiallyemptyinnertankorsedimentbuild-upresult-
ingindryfiringoftheheatingelements.
6) Toanydamageorfailurecausedbyutilizingtheheaterincon-
junctionwithanyotherenergysavingdeviceorothersource(s)
ofenergy not approved bythemanufacturer; or for otherthan
usewithpotablewaterwithoutanyadditivessuchassalt,chlo-
rine, or chemicals other than those added for the purpose of
renderingthewaterfittodrink.
7) Toanydamageorfailurecausedbytheremovaloftheanode
&/orbynotassuringthatthereisaworkinganodeinthetankat
alltimes.Allanodesmust becheckedat leastonceevery two
years&replacedifnecessary
8) To any damages or failure caused by having affixed to the
heaterany non-factory madeor factory approved replacement
part(s)suchaselements,controls,dip-tubes,reliefvalves,etc...
9) Toanydamagecausedbynothavingthewaterheaterinstalled
adjacenttoafreeflowingdrainintheeventofwaterleakage.
10)If the heater is operated at water temperatures exceeding the
maximumsetting of the operating &/or high limit control or the
heaterisnotsuppliedwithpotablewater,freetocirculateatall
times.
11)If the heater has experienced the effect of thermal expansion
due to excessive pressure (exceeding 300PSI). The result of
excessivepressureusuallyreversesthebottomoftheinnertank
andcanoccurwiththeadditionofapressurereducingvalve&/
oracheckvalveinthemunicipalwatersupplysysteminasingle
familydwelling.
12)IftheheaterisinstalledoutsideofCanadaortheUnitedStates.
SERVICE LABOUR RESPONSIBILITY
Thiswarrantydoesnotcoveranylabourexpenseforservice,remov-
al,orre-installationofareplacementheater.Allsuchexpensesare
yourresponsibility.
SHIPPING COSTS
Ifawaterheaterorcomponentpartisdeemedtobereplaced,the
manufacturer will pay the transportation costs of the replacement
unittoaconvenientauthorizeddistributororretailerasselectedby
us.Youmustpayanylocalcartageincludingthecostofreturning
thereplaceditemtotheauthorizeddistributororretailerfromwhom
thereplacementiscomingfrom.
HOW TO MAKE A CLAIM
Anyclaim for warrantyserviceshouldbemade to your contractor,
wholesaler,orretailerfromwhomthewaterheaterwaspurchased.
Inturn,saidcontractor,wholesaler,orretailerwillcontactthemanu-
facturer from whom they purchased the heater. If this procedure
cannotbe followed, contact any other local contractor, wholesaler,
orretailerhandlingourwaterheaters.Also,forwarrantyinformation
you may call the manufacturer’s customer service department at
(514)645-8893or1-800-363-9354,ext.240.Wesuggestthatprior
tocallingthefactory,thatyoumakesuretohavethemodelnumber
& serial number that is to be found on the outside casing of the
heater.Proofofpurchaseshowingthedate,name,andplaceofthe
business from whom the water heater was purchased is essential
to settle any warranty claim dispute over the length of the period
ofinstallation.
If an exact replacement is not available, a current model water
heaterorcomponentpartwithcomparableoperatingfeatureswillbe
providedbythemanufacturer.Ifgovernmentregulationsorindustry
standards require the replacement model water heater or compo-
nentparttohavefeaturesnotfoundonthedefectivemodelwater
heaterorcomponentpart,youwillbechargedthedifferenceinprice
associatedwiththeserequiredfeatures.Ifyoupaythedifferencein
price for these required features, you will receive a complete new
StandardBasicLimitedWarrantyforthereplacementwaterheater.
MISCELLANEOUS
No one is authorized to make any other warranties on the manu-
facturer’s behalf. Any implied warranties of any nature offered
by a third party other than what is stated in this Standard Basic
Limited Warranty will not be honoured. No claims for incidental or
consequential damages (including damages from leakage) will be
accepted.Ifyoudonotreturnthewarrantycard,aproofofpurchase
showingthename,date,andlocationoftheoriginalsourceofpur-
chaseisanecessitytoprocessawarrantyclaim.Failuretoproduce
thisdocumentationwill result in the lesseror the warrantyperiods
beingoffered.Inordertoavoidanyconfusion&/ordisputes,wesug-
gestthatthewarrantycardbecompletedandmailedbacknolater
thanforty-five(45)daysafterinstallation.
EXTENDED WARRANTIES
Forinformationonsomepremiumqualityresidentialgas&electric
waterheaters,contactyourlocallicensedplumber,orlookforthem
atselectedretailers.
