ComputermotherboardsandexpansioncardscontainverydelicateIntegratedCircuit(IC)chips.
Toprotectthemagainstdamagefromstaticelectricity,youshouldfollowsomeprecautionswhen-
everyouworkonyourcomputer.
1.Unplugyourcomputerwhenworkingonthe inside.
2.Useagroundedwriststrapbeforehandlingcomputercomponents.Ifyoudonothaveone,
touchbothofyourhandstoasafelygrounded objectortoametalobject, suchasthe
powersupplycase.
3.Holdcomponentsbythe edgesand trynottouchthe ICchips,leadsorconnectors,or
othercomponents.
4.Placecomponentson agrounded antistaticpadoronthebagthatcamewiththe compo-
nentswheneverthecomponentsareseparatedfromthesystem.
5.EnsurethattheATXpowersupplyisswitchedoffbeforeyouplug inorremovetheATX
powerconnectoronthemotherboard.
Installingthemotherboardtothechassis
Ifthemotherboardhasmounting holes,buttheydon'tlineupwiththeholesonthebaseand
therearenoslotstoattachthespacers,donotbecomealarmedyoucanstillattachthespacersto
the mountingholes.Justcutthebottomportionofthe spacers(the spacermaybe alittlehardto
cutoff, sobe carefulofyourhands).Inthiswayyoucan stillattachthemotherboardtothebase
withoutworryingaboutshortcircuits.Sometimesyoumayneedtousetheplasticspringstoiso-
latethe screwfromthe motherboardPCBsurface,becausethe circuitwiremaybe nearbythe
hole.Becareful,don'tletthescrewcontactanyprinted circuitwriteorpartsonthe PCBthatare
nearthefixing hole,otherwiseitmaydamagetheboardorcauseboardmalfunctioning.

Step2:Install theCentralProcessing Unit(CPU)
Beforeinstallingthe processor,adheretothefollowing warning:
1.PleasemakesuretheCPUtypeissupportedbythemotherboard.
2.The processorwill overheatwithouttheheatsinkand/orfan,resultinginpermanent
irreparabledamage.
3. Ifyoudo notmatchtheCPUsocketPin1and CPUcutedge well,itwillcauseimproper
installation.Pleasechangethe insertorientation.
4.Applythermalgreasebetweenthe processorandcoolingfan.
5.Neverruntheprocessorwithouttheheatsinkproperlyandfirmlyattached.Permanentdamage
will result.
6.PleasesettheCPUhostfrequencyinaccordancewithyourprocessor'sspecifications.
Wedon'trecommend you tosetthe systembusfrequency overthe CPU'sspecification
becausethesespecificbusfrequenciesarenotthe standardspecificationsforCPU,chipset
andmostoftheperipherals.Whetheryoursystemcanrununderthesespecificbusfrequencies
properlywill dependonyourhardwareconfigurations,includingCPU,Memory,Cards…etc.

Beforeinstalling thememorymodules,adheretothe following warning:
1.PleasenotethattheDIMM modulecan onlyfitinone directiondue tothe one notch.Wrong
orientation willcauseimproperinstallation.Pleasechange theinsertorientation.
Step3:InstallMemoryModules
The motherboardhas2dualinline memorymodule(DIMM)sockets.The BIOSwillautomaticallydetects
memorytypeandsize.Toinstallthememorymodule,justpushitverticallyintotheDIMM socket. TheDIMM
modulecanonlyfitinonedirection duetothe notch.Memorysizecan varybetween sockets.

2. Insertthe DIMM memorymoduleverticallyintothe
DIMM socket. Thenpushitdown.
