Computermotherboardsand expansion cardscontainverydelicateIntegrated Circuit(IC)chips.To
protectthemagainstdamage fromstaticelectricity,you shouldfollowsomeprecautionswheneveryou
workon yourcomputer.
1.Unplug yourcomputerwhen working on the inside.
2.Useagrounded wriststrap beforehandling computercomponents.Ifyou do nothave
one,touchbothofyourhandstoasafelygrounded objectortoametalobject, suchas
the powersupplycase.
3.Holdcomponentsbytheedgesand trynottouchthe ICchips,leadsorconnectors,or
othercomponents.
4.Placecomponentson agrounded antistaticpad oronthe bag thatcamewiththe
componentswheneverthe componentsareseparatedfromthe system.
5.EnsurethattheATXpowersupplyisswitchedoff beforeyou plug inorremovethe ATX
powerconnectoron the motherboard.
Ifthe motherboardhasmountingholes,buttheydon’tlineup withtheholesonthe baseandthereare
no slotstoattachthe spacers,do notbecomealarmed you can stillattachthe spacerstothemounting
holes.Justcutthe bottomportionofthespacers(thespacermaybe alittlehardtocutoff, sobe careful
ofyourhands).Inthiswayyou canstill attachthemotherboardtothebasewithoutworryingaboutshort
circuits.Sometimesyou mayneedtousetheplasticspringstoisolatethe screwfromthe motherboard
PCBsurface,becausethe circuitwiremaybenearbythehole.Becareful,don’tletthescrewcontact
anyprintedcircuitwriteorpartson thePCBthatarenearthe fixing hole,otherwiseitmaydamage the
boardorcauseboardmalfunctioning.

1.Hookone endofthe cooler
brackettothe CPUsocketfirst. 2.Hooktheotherendofthe
coolerbrackettothe CPU
socket.
M Please use Intelapprovedcooling fan.
M Werecommend you toapplythethermaltapetoprovidebetterheat
conduction betweenyourCPUand heatsink.
(TheCPUcooling fanmightstick totheCPUduetothehardening ofthe
thermalpaste.During thiscondition ifyou trytoremove thecooling fan,you
mightpulltheprocessoroutoftheCPUsocketalonewiththecooling fan,and
mightdamagetheprocessor.To avoidthisfromhappening,wesuggestyou to
eitherusethermaltapeinsteadofthermalpaste,orremove thecoolingfanwith
extremecaution.)
