Installing the motherboard to the chassis…
Ifthemotherboardhasmountingholes,buttheydon'tlineupwiththeholesonthebaseandthere
arenoslotstoattachthespacers,donotbecomealarmedyoucanstillattachthespacerstothe
mountingholes.Justcutthebottomportionofthespacers(thespacermaybealittlehardtocutoff,
sobecareful ofyourhands). Inthisway youcanstill attachthemotherboard tothebase without
worryingaboutshortcircuits.Sometimesyoumayneedtouse theplasticsprings toisolatethe
screwfrom the motherboardPCB surface, becausethecircuit wire maybe near bythehole. Be
careful,don'tlet thescrewcontact anyprintedcircuit writeorparts onthePCB thatarenearthe
fixinghole,otherwiseitmaydamagetheboardorcauseboardmalfunctioning.
Preparing Your Computer
ComputermotherboardsandexpansioncardscontainverydelicateIntegratedCircuit(IC)chips.To
protectthemagainstdamagefromstaticelectricity,youshouldfollowsomeprecautionswhenever
youwork on your computer.
1. Unplugyourcomputer whenworking onthe inside.
2. Useagroundedwriststrapbeforehandlingcomputercomponents. Ifyoudonothave
one,touchbothofyour handstoasafelygroundedobjectortoa metalobject,suchas
thepower supply case.
3. Holdcomponentsby theedges andtry nottouch theIC chips,leads orconnectors, or
othercomponents.
4. Placecomponentsonagroundedantistaticpadoronthebagthatcamewiththe
componentswheneverthecomponentsareseparatedfromthesystem.
5. EnsurethattheATX powersupplyis switchedoffbeforeyoupluginor removetheATX
powerconnectoronthemotherboard.
