Prepareyourcomputer...
Computermotherboardsand expansion cardscontainverydelicateIntegrated Circuit(IC)chips.To
protectthemagainstdamage fromstaticelectricity,you shouldfollowsomeprecautionswheneveryou
workon yourcomputer.
1.Unplug yourcomputerwhen working on the inside.
2.Useagrounded wriststrap beforehandling computercomponents.If you do nothaveone,
touchbothofyourhandstoasafelygrounded objectortoametalobject, suchasthe power
supplycase.
3.Holdcomponentsbythe edgesand trynottouchthe ICchips,leadsorconnectors,orother
components.
4.Placecomponentson agrounded antistaticpad oron the bag thatcamewiththe components
wheneverthe componentsareseparated fromthe system.
5.Ensurethatthe ATXpowersupplyisswitched off beforeyou plug inorremovethe ATXpower
connectoronthe motherboard.
Installing the motherboardtothe chassis...
If the motherboardhasmounting holes,buttheydon'tline up withthe holeson the baseand there
areno slotstoattachthe spacers,do notbecomealarmed you can still attachthe spacerstothe
mounting holes.Justcutthe bottomportion ofthe spacers(the spacermaybe alittlehardtocutoff, so
be carefulofyourhands).Inthiswayyou can still attachthe motherboardtothe basewithoutworrying
aboutshortcircuits.Sometimesyou mayneed tousethe plasticspringstoisolatethe screwfromthe
motherboardPCBsurface,becausethe circuitwiremaybe nearbythe hole.Becareful,don'tletthe
screwcontactanyprinted circuitwriteorpartson the PCBthatarenearthe fixing hole,otherwiseit
maydamage the boardorcauseboardmalfunctioning.

The installation ofthe processorand cooling fan isperformed infourmainsteps:
Step 1-1.Processorinsertion

Beforeinstalling the processorand cooling fan,adheretothe following warning:
1.The processorwill overheatwithoutthe heatsinkand/orfan,resulting inpermanent
irreparabledamage.
2.Neverforcethe processorintothe socket.
3.Applythermalgreasebetween the processorand cooling fan.
4.Pleasemakesurethe CPUtype issupported bythe motherboard.
5. If you do notmatchthe CPUsocketPin1and CPUcutedge well,itwill causeimproper
installation.Pleasechange the insertorientation.PleaseuseAMDapproved cooling
fan.
Step1-1.First, check the processorpinstosee thatnone arebent. Movethe socketlevertothe
unlocked position asshowninFigure1&Figure2.(90otothe plane ofthe motherboard)prior
toinserting the processor.The A1pinlocation isdesignated on the processorbyacopper
trianglethatmatchesup toatriangleon the socketasshowninFigure3.Align the processor
tothe socketand gentlyloweritintoplace.Donotforcethe processorintothe socket.

Step1-2.When the processorisinstalled inthe socket, applythermalgreasetothe processor(as
showninFigure4)priortoinstalling the heatsink.AMDrecommendsusing ahigh thermal
conductivitygrease(suchasShin-EtsutypesG751 orG749,oran equivalentproduct)for
the thermalinterfacematerialratherthan aphasechange material.Phasechange materials
develop strong adhesiveforcesbetween the heatsinkand processor.
Removing theheatsinkundersuchconditionscancause theprocessortobe
removedfromthesocketwithoutmoving thesocketlevertotheunlocked
position and thendamagetheprocessorpinsorsocketcontacts.
** Werecommend you toapplythe thermaltape toprovide betterheatconduction between your
CPUand heatsink.(The CPUcooling fan mightstick tothe CPUdue tothe hardening ofthe
thermalpaste.During thiscondition ifyou trytoremovethe cooling fan,you mightpull the
processoroutofthe CPUsocketalone withthe cooling fan,and mightdamage the processor.
Toavoidthisfromhappening,wesuggestyou toeitherusethermaltape instead ofthermal
paste,or removethe cooling fan withextremecaution.)

the processor.Align the heatsinkassemblywiththe supportframemating withthe backer
platestandoffsasshowninFigure5&6.

Beforeinstalling thememorymodules,adheretothefollowing warning:
1.WhenDIMM LEDisON,do notinstall /remove DIMM fromsocket.
2.Please notethattheDIMM modulecanonlyfitinonedirection dueto
theonenotch.Wrong orientation will cause improperinstallation.
Please changetheinsertorientation.
Step2:Install MemoryModules
The motherboardhas2dualinline memorymodule(DIMM)sockets.The BIOSwill automatically
detectsmemorytype and size.Toinstall the memorymodule,justpushitverticallyintothe DIMM
socket. The DIMM modulecan onlyfitinone direction due tothe notch.Memorysizecan vary
between sockets.

Established on the existing SDRAMinfrastructure,DDR (DoubleDataRate)memoryisahigh
performanceand cost-effectivesolution thatallowseasy adoption formemoryvendors,OEMs,and
systemintegrators.
DDR memoryisagreatevolutionarysolution forthe PCindustrythatbuildson the existing
SDRAMarchitecture,yetmakethe awesomeadvancesinsolving the systemperformancebottleneck
bydoubling the memorybandwidth.Nowadays,withthe highestbandwidthof3.2GB/sofDDR400
memoryand completeline ofDDR400/333/266/200 memorysolutions,DDR memoryisthe best
choiceforbuilding high performanceand lowlatency DRAMsubsystemthataresuitableforservers,
workstations,and full range ofdesktop PCs.
1.The DIMM sockethasanotch,sothe DIMM memory
modulecan onlyfitinone direction.
2. Insertthe DIMM memorymoduleverticallyintothe DIMM
socket. Then pushitdown.
3.Closethe plasticclipatbothedgesofthe DIMM sockets
tolock the DIMM module.
Reversethe installation stepswhen you wishtoremove
the DIMM module.

1.Read the related expansion card'sinstruction documentbeforeinstall the expansion cardintothe
computer.
2.Removeyourcomputer'schassiscover,screwsand slotbracketfromthe computer.
3.Press the expansion cardfirmlyintoexpansion slotinmotherboard.
4.Besurethe metalcontactson the cardareindeed seated inthe slot.
5.Replacethe screwtosecurethe slotbracketofthe expansion card.
6.Replaceyourcomputer'schassiscover.
7.Poweron the computer,ifnecessary,setup BIOSutilityofexpansion cardfromBIOS.
8. Install related driverfromthe operating system.
AGPCard
Pleasecarefullypull outthe small white-drawablebaratthe end ofthe AGPslotwhen you trytoinstall
/uninstall the AGPcard.Pleasealign the AGPcardtothe onboardAGPslotand press firmlydownon
the slot. MakesureyourAGPcardislocked bythe small white-drawablebar.
