Solar Fan
Model GSK-1001
T is circuit converts sunlig t into electrical energy. T e fan
speed is controlled by t e intensity of t e sun collect by t e
solar panel. T is kit provides a rudimentary demonstration
for ow solar energy works.
Technical Specifications
nPower Source: Solar panel
nSolar panel: 4 VDC, 60 mA
nSolar panel dimensions: 2.36 x 2.36 inc es
Operating Principles
W en t e solar panel is facing sunlig t, it will convert t e
sun’s energy to DC voltage. T e DC voltage will be utilized by
t e DC motor to turn t e fan. Fan speed will be determined
by t e intensity of t e sun collect by t e solar panel.
Circuit Assembl
Please refer to Figures 2 for aid in circuit assembly.
Note
T is solar panel will not convert fluorescent lig t to DC voltage.
Special handling instruction
Extra care must be taken to ensure proper installation of
solar panel to PCB. Severe damage may occur to t e solar
panel if t e positive and negative poles are s ort circuited.
Testing
Connect all components as s own in figure 2. Make sure
t e red clip is connected to t e positive pole and t e black
clip to t e negative pole. If t e connections are reversed, t e
fan will turn in reverse direction. T e motor (fan) will turn
faster t e greater t e suns intensity and slow or stop moving
wit less or no sun lig t.
Troubleshooting
T e solar panel may be tested by connecting t e positive pole
and negative pole to a voltmeter. Turn t e solar panel towards
t e sun, and any movement displayed by t e voltmeter
indicates t e solar panel is functional. To test t e DC motor,
connect a 3 VDC power source to t e motor. If t e motor
turns, it is working.
