STEP BY STEP INSTALLATION
This Battery Electronic control system must be installed by a qualied gas
professional. These instructions MUST be followed to ensure proper performance
and safety. Failure to do so could result in serious injury or death.
Battery electronic valve system is shipped pre-assembled with ttings and heat shields already attached.
For systems ordered “Assembled” the valve system is pre-assembled and tested at the factory before shipping.
Perform the installation with extreme care ensuring not to damage the valve, module or wiring harness
connections. It is also recommended that the valve assemble is performed outside of the replace.
Pre-Installation –
For assembly of control system to an existing gas log system, ensure that all the media has been removed and
the burner is clear of all dust and debris. Check to ensure that the valve system and burner are labeled for the
gas type supplied to the replace (Natural Gas or Propane). Also check to ensure that the proper gas pressure
is supplied to appliance (Minimum 5" W.C Natural Gas, Minimum 10" W.C Propane).
This Battery Electronic Control must be installed by a qualied professional
service technician. Instructions must be followed carefully when installing
to ensure proper performance.
These instructions must be used as a supplement to the instructions supplied with the Grand Canyon
Gas Logs burner system. Follow the burner system instructions and make adjustments as appropriate
for the addition of a battery electronic system. Use gas pipe sealing compound that is resistant to all
gasses (or Teon tape) and apply to all male pipe connections. DO NOT apply pipe sealing compound
to any are connections. Make sure that all connections are tight.
Installation –
Remove all burner components for the burner kit and
the valve control system parts. Locate the silver gas
control valve, (2) 3/8" FIP x ½" Flare brass elbows,
Velcro & green control module. Using pipe sealing
compound insert each of the brass ttings into the
valve tightly, with the connections facing the bottom
of the valve, Fig.1. Attach the green control
module to the valve as shown in the picture.
NOTE: Orient the valve so that the gas inlet is on the
right and the gas outlet is on the left. The gas outlet is
on the same side as the pilot assembly connection.

On the end of the 7-wire wiring harness, locate the
(2) brown wires as well as the red & black wires.
The (2) brown wires are your switch wires that will con-
nect to your remote and the red & black wires are your
power in connection to the battery pack. Next locate
the (2) black wires connected to the terminal block of
the receiver box. Using the provided spade connec-
tions, connect one black wire to one of the brown wires
and the other black wire to the last brown wire. Next
connect the red/black wire from the battery pack to the
red/black wires on the 7-wire wiring harness.
Red to red and black to black.
NOTE: This is also a good time to insert the (4) AA
batteries into the receiver and the (2) D-Cell batteries
into the control systems battery pack. For syncing the
remote to the receiver please follow the instructions
provided with the remote/receiver system.
Information for remote syncing is on

INSTALLATION
Locate the pilot mounting bracket on the burner
system. Each Grand Canyon Gas Logs burner
style has a pilot mounting bracket designed
for easy installation and fast ignition.
NOTE: For ANY pilot assembly, ensure that one ame
of the pilot assembly is shooting towards the sensor
and the other ame is shooting to the ignition holes of
the burner. For burner systems (2-Burner, Kiva) pilot
brackets are located on the back of the burner, for
burner systems (3-Burner, Jumbo/Jumbo Slimline,
Glass) pilot brackets are located on the side of the
burner. When facing the burner, it is recommended
that the pilot and valve system be mounted
on the left side of the burner.
Refer to Fig 3, inserting the screw through the pilot
bracket, then attach the ground wire and nally
screwing the screw into the pilot assembly screw hole.

INSTALLATION
Coil the wire using proper aluminum tube bending
techniques and insert the pilot tube are connection
into the left side of the valve. Finally locate the “S” & “I”
wires connected to the pilot assembly and insert them
into the green control module.
Locate the valve/ control module to the left side of the
burner. Then connect the 10" x ½" whistle free ex line
to the gas outlet of the valve and the gas inlet of the
burner. Using proper wrench, tighten the connections.
Using the long valve heat shield, cover the valve and
control module. This is a tight t and ensure that
none of the connections get pinched.
Run the extra length of the wiring harness behind the
burner. Then locate the battery pack/receiver on the
right-hand side of the burner. Cover the Battery pack/
receiver with the battery pack heat shield.

Insert the assembled burner and control system into the
replace centering the burner left to right and front to
back. With the provided ex line and brass connection
tting connect the gas inlet into the replace to the gas
inlet on the valve control system. NOTE: Make sure
the battery pack/receiver is located in the front right on
the replace. DO NOT place the battery pack/receiver
underneath the burner or in the back of the replace.
Using soapy water, spray the gas connections to ensure
there are no leaks once the gas supply is turned on.
NEVER use an open ame to check for leaks.
